Well, I guess we'll go ahead with the white elephant trade... enough people have shown intrest. I do like the idea of a tape tree, but this is more than a "secret santa" It is an off the wall way to get to know a fellow EDA better. The gifts do not have to be jewel related by any means.. just anything around the house that you feel you need to get rid of, and that you think someone might like to have... Think off center, and this could be real fun..Anyway, fellow Texan Lewis said he'd be the volunteer, but until he posts saying that he is ready for all the extra emails, send your requests to me at rowdy_white@hotmail.com and I'll fwd them to him once he is ready...here are the rules: If you want to play: 1. Send me your mailing address via email (that's the address where the post office knows you ;) ) 2. Include both your real name and email addy that you use on the list (if you send from a different email account). 3. Cut-off date will be Dec 3, 4. Either Lewis or myself will draw the names on that date. You will receive an email from one of us telling you who your victim is.5. I think it is horrible how the list has gotten lately. I haven't been an EDA for a very long time- like two years, but I have noticed a difference. Personally, I am an EDA because I respect Jewel more than any other singer/songerwriter out there right now. I feel like all of her material comes straight from her heart. Also, anytime I have had a problem there has always been a Jewel song that put my emotions right into words. Jewel has been a role model and inspiration since '97- AND THAT IS WHY I AM AN EDA xoxo Ashley Staggers The Sweet Angel (\o/) also- the Pi Beta Phi angel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Nov 2001 02:57:29 +0100 From: "Mr. Moon" Subject: [EDA] Re: NJC Emo Hi... you probably got replies already... but just in case... I'm no expert on emo music... and it's hard to divide music into cathegories... but I think The Get Up Kids are considered an emo band. And I really love their music... you should check out I'll Catch You (no words on how phenomenal this is) or Out Of Reach for their ballady side... or Action & Action and Close To Home for their little faster stuff... and if you like these songs than I seriously reccomend getting the Something To Write Home About album... cause it's awesome. The other band... I'm not sure it's emo, could be something completely different... but feels like it... The Sheila Divine... try Opportune Moment, The Modern Log, Hum and Spacemilk... their album New Parade is really worth checking out! I do think the CD is a wonderful idea, considering that only 1/4 of all eda's would most likely take part ( some don't have mics, speaks, time, or computer capabilities to do this) but I just don't think there is much time. IF you are interested in doing the donation to HGH, and the card, could you PLEASE email me privately with the email Subject " Jewel's Christmas" I can filter them that way. I just wanted to know who MIGHT be interested. Remember, the donation doesn't have to be HUGE, and every year there is a large debate about who can and cannot donate. ("I'm in college I can't afford it" " I am a single parents, and we need groceries") All of the reasons that one might not be able to donate are 100% understandable, and everyone appreciates the thought. :) no one will know who does and does not donate, and how much each person donates. Believe me, I understand.. I work 2 jobs, and am a full time college student. So let's try to make this as painless as possible ok? Send me a private email, if you ARE interested in participating in this project. This doesn't mean we ARE doing it.. I was flippin' channels and I saw a show on the WB about new teen artists that are happening or they will be and there was Michelle Branch and she was saying how the odds were against her and stuff and that she decided to not have a back up plan, 'cause if she did she would endup doing that back up plan,..sorry, but I think I read hat on Chasing Down the Dawn , no? Hey, two people in this planet can have the same idea at the same time without knowing that the other one is thinking about it (like with the invention of the phone or telegraph, can't remember , this guy in Italy Marconi was doing the same thing as Bell, at the same time in different continents) but I just found the comment too much alike, the thought.... maybe it's me and my criminal mind... well. maybe she read it and liked it..I liked it and if I was starting anything now I wouldn't have a backup plan either, 'cause it makes sense , but I would definitely say "I read Jewel's book and she said...and that inspired me..." ya know.?'cause my mama never told me anything about the backup plan and I'm not that clever to come up with that. Is it that much trouble to accept one blank tape from someone, dub something on it, and then send it back to that person? why must people also recieve extra blanks for themselves? thats what I call cheap. The people asking for the extra tapes are cheap... rather than the people refusing to send extra tapes. Also, I hate it when people will NOT send you back the casstette/cd jewelcases back to you if you send your blanks in a jewelcase. Even if you are paying the shipping yourself, they still refuse to send the cases (which are not theirs to claim).
