Liars. im sick of my album so its mostly new stuff tonight... ") Not to mention the possibility of a interview cancelled... and she couldnt seem to want to get out of there sooner... standing up nearly immediately.

Just a bit on the body language...
hands fidgety with fists: usually sign of great annoyance.look on her face: very unhappy and tired... like she was supposed to be somewhere else.. or maybe just hoping she was somewhere else.standing with hands on hips while talking to conan: not happy girl

she definitely wasnt a happy girl last night.. but she still sounded great. maybe she caught a bit of a winter bug.. doesnt she usually get a cold or somehting around now? i know i do.

Jewel PC Personalizations :-) Hey, just wanted to let y'all know that if you haven't been to my site recently, I've started to make a couple of things to help you personalize your computer with Jewel. Actually, it's a combination of wanting some Planet Jewel-exclusive stuff...and boredom. ;-) So far, I've made two wallpapers and a Winamp skin. You can check those out on the main page of my site (in the left column).. http://jewel.tanweb.com/ Enjoy! =) Also, if you wouldn't mind, could you please take a minute or two to vote for my site in the 2001 Rolling Stone Readers' Poll? They have a category for Best Online Fan Site, and I might actually have a shot at it because it's a total write-in and a lot of people will be too lazy to try to gather votes. There's a button link to that also in the left column with the other stuff. So if you want to sit closer to Jewel then it might be a good idea to ask to join (membership is #10) when you're ordering. There may be a downside to this in that you might get neck strain looking up at the stage. Most celebrities are going to bring their own make up artists with them everywhere they go because they know exactly what they want. Jewel seems like a do-it-herself kind of girl. As for the clothes, same thing, she's not a doll - she definately decides what she wants to wear, she doens't have someone telling her... it's possible once she got out there that she was uncomfortable in the skirt, but she didn't have someone dressing her backstage, forcing her to wear it.... ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Nov 2001 16:41:46 EST From: LuckyStarr42@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Pictures from Conon??? All the eda's that want to participate could give imput on a poem to be written. Am i carrying this too far??? Sorry if i am but i would love Jewel to get something personal for herself, from us. Jewel This Way 2.5/4 On her third album, Jewel goes to Nashville, switches producers and experiments with new sounds. Still, ``This Way'' is typical Jewel.Which means that half the time the Alaskan songstress beguiles with slinky vocals and interesting wordplay and observations. The other half of the time she grates with twee vocalizing and precious half-witticisms. The good parts include the contemporary country-pop sound of producer Dann Huff on ``Everybody Needs Someone Sometime,'' the romanticism of the burbling title track and the tastefully orchestrated, smoky ballad ``I Won't Walk Away.'' The bad includes the silly rodeo imagery on ``Till We Run Out of Road'' (written with rodeo star/paramour Ty Murray), the overproduced and nonsensical ``Do You Want to Play'' and the Dylanesque vocals on ``Love Me, Leave Me Alone.''When Jewel is good, she's very good, but when she's bad she's irritating. Subject: [EDA] Jewel's current state Granted she did seem upbeat on the Garth special, but who wouldn't be having Garth playing and singing on stage next to them? (I mean if you like country, as she does) I'm sure that more than made up for anything that may have been bothering her at the time. I really think alot of it is her new band. They've messed up more than one time, on the same song...one they should know by now. She may be thinking about her full tour, all the songs, and how many potential mess-up's there's going to be. Combine that with her connection she had with the other band, and now the lack of that, and I think there's good reason she may not be seem to be totally into her performance now. She seems to be more comfortable and happier when I've seen her playing solo lately. Like on Life 360, TRL (singing Hands), Larry King...all those performances were good. The one connection they all have is that she was *solo*. Think about it. Then when she's been with the band, for the most part it always seems like "something" goes wrong. Someone messes up, or there's technical problems, or just something. It'll only take a couple times of that happening to upset any artist who tries to come across as professional as possible when performing, especially someone as established as Jewel is. Has anyone seen or even heard of the guys in her band before? (other than Steve G. of course) Are they popular? Do they have the touring experience? While I can't verify this with accurate numbers, I'd venture to say "no". Granted, maybe her old band didn't either (other than Steve Poltz), but I don't really know. However, they DID seem to be better overall musicians...right from the get go. They gelled much quicker, and really played off each other's energies. Tony and Brady were almost always looking at one another, as well as Doug, and her new band very seldom does that. It's as if each guy is just up there doing his own thing for himself. How many times did you see the new bass player look at the drummer? Or the lead guitarist turn around and even acknowledge the others? Watch again. Then watch the DVD. You'll see the difference. I think it's quite evident. So, on that note, if anyone would like to see an existing band member go, who would it be? My vote would be first, the lead guitar player, then the drummer, then the acoustic player. If 3 have to go I mean. In that order. What's everyone else think?
