I don't know where "moth holes" came from, because I'm certainly hearing gold dust.... :) ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Nov 2001 20:02:19 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Subject: [EDA] The new DVD Has anyone else bought this yet? I haven't seen any posts about it. Upon watching it again (which is the same as the original VHS tape, other than the 3 bonus live songs), I noticed near the beginning where they are in the house in San Diego, it says that's in 1996. Does anyone else think Jewel looks older than 22 there? Her hair is longer, much like it was during the Spririt tour, and she doesn't really look like she does on all of the other 1996 footage...for example with the shorter hair, different style, different makeup, and just her overall appearance. I was just wondering if maybe that was a glitch in the video's programming. As for the additional 3 live tracks...they're pretty cool. Someone told me that was the first time she added the "kitty cat" part to WWSYS...I just have the one resource for this, but it does seem very possible since her and Doug seemed to be winging much of it, and the ending was a bit different from the way they ended up doing it throughout most of the actual Spirit tour. She also had a few other variations in some parts of the other songs...you can sort of figure out how she ended up with the results she did. There's a couple parts where her voice goes amazingly high...near the end of Down So Long, and on WWSYS. I had forgotten how she did that in concert...and it never ceases to amaze me. Not the high cracking thing she does, as that doesn't sound as good, but I mean when it's clear...which it is a couple times on the DVD. It takes alot of control to do that. It was nice watching the video again, after it having been 2 years since my first, and only other time. And the additional 15 minutes+ of concert footage is a nice bonus. It's too bad they couldn't put that whole show on there. :-) I couldn't really tell much difference with the sound, but I'm also using a better TV now, and the DVD should sound better than the VHS anyway, so those types of things are a bit more subtle unless you're comparing it on 2 equal systems I guess. I still like all the early footage of her...like the Java Joe's performance footage, and a couple other pre 1995 stuff. Sometimes I wish that time period could have been frozen...like from 1992-1996. I like her hair better shorter. She just looked more healthy back then for some reason...maybe just from being younger, with less "wear" on her from all the touring, etc. We'll see how she does tonight...interestingly on the same show she made her big TV break on 5 or 6 years ago. *Maybe* Conan will give her a short interview at least. :-) Derrick ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Nov 2001 21:09:44 -0500 From: "Scott" Subject: Re: [EDA] wrong words Do you have a different version? Because mine says "moth holes" instead of "gold dust" as well.. It's just a normal Jewel slip-up.. She using different words a lot of times...no biggie. I actually like the moth holes in your pocket better because she uses "gold dust in your pocket" in LMJLMA, and that would be kind of repetitive :-) <> scott.evans [[mind is DISCONNECTED. but my heart is WIRED.]] AOL IM: sevans112 .
