Laid out like a giant cornucopiabwhatever that isbare this week's debuts in the Top 10...all five of 'em. Capitol Nashville's Chris Gaines, er, Garth Brooks is giving thanks, as his latest record bows on top with first-week sales of 472k. "It was a definitely a fourth-quarter kind of week, with so many new records streeting. Garth came back in a big way," said Hastings' Rob Fuller, giving away the reason we call him for deep insight. "And Epic has run a great marketing campaign, getting Shakira to crossover to a mainstream audience with this one." That's right, the Latin superstar is the big winner this week, debuting at #3 on sales of 206k. Said manager Freddy DeMann, "Yo soy muy caliente, no?" Garth and Shakira are joined in the Top Five by Jive's Britney (#2), Epic's Michael Jackson (#4) and Reprise's Enya (#5). Jackson stayed very strong, thanks in part to his well-watched CBS 30th Anniversary special. Geffen's Rob Zombie debuted at #7, proving that any day is a good hair day when you sell 150k records. Two Warner Music Group debuts, Madonna's second greatest-hits on Warner Bros. and Atlantic's Jewel (at #8 and #9, respectively), combined with the still-strong Enya, giving WMG three ladies in the Top 10. Next week, as the holiday-shopping frenzy kicks into overdrivebhopefullyb retailers expect a messianic fervor for Wind-up's Creed, with Virgin's turn on the "Now" series, Now Vol. 8, and Arista's Pink also expecting a good chunk of post-tryptophan-ingestion spending. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Nov 2001 22:52:33 -0200 From: "FabioJJ" Subject: [EDA] The A List http://www.getmusic.com/shows/alist/jewel/index.html Fabio >> www.geocities.com/fabiojj <|> BRASIL <|> Jewel+Sarah << >> www.jewelbrasil.f2s.com <|> BRASIL <|> Fa-clube Jewel << >> www.jeweljk.com <|>JEWEL <|> official website << >> music <|> STANDING STILL <|> Jewel <|> THIS WAY << >> http://www2.fanscape.com/jewel/streetteam/standingstillaudiord.asp << ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Nov 2001 21:52:02 EST From: Getmamayo@aol.com Subject: [EDA] god damn it! She debuted at #26 on the Album Charts, and the single moved from #40 to #25 this week (a huge jump!) Not quite as good as Australia (in terms of albums)... but a nice debut none the less!! "She's been a dream to work with and when I told the crew she was going to be here, they totally forgot about me," says Brooks. "They're very excited." The concert will be broadcast live from the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier, back home in Norfolk, Virginia, from a mission in Afghanistan. Brooks and Jewel will entertain the ship's servicemen and women, along with their families. Like Brooks, Jewel is one of the few owners of the rare RIAA Diamond Award, signifying album sales of more than 10 million. Her 1995 debut, Pieces Of You, has sold more than 11 million copies. Her latest album, This Way, was released on November 13, the same day that Brooks' album, Scarecrow arrived in stores. Jewel will perform "Standing Still," the Top Ten single from her new album. Brooks' first Coast To Coast Live concert aired last week from the Forum in Los Angeles, with special guests Trisha Yearwood and Keb Mo. The third, and final concert of the series airs next Wednesday, November 28 at 10 p.m.ET on CBS, live from South Padre Island. Scarecrow is Brooks' first album of new music in four years and includes the Top Ten hit, "Wrapped Up In You." ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Nov 2001 22:07:53 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Japanese Album Charts Jewel is dropping down the Japanese album charts quite quickly unfortunately. She debuted at #30, the following week dropped to #43, and this week she's at #57. Here's the basic scoop. Jewel will be doing a promo tour of Europe toward the end of February to coincide with the European release of the "Standing Still" single and her new album. It'll primarily be a media tour (TV, radio, print interviews, etc.) but a few concerts are possible, although nothing is confirmed yet. The Royal Festival Hall in London is a distinct possibilty for a concert. Otherwise, the current "European tour plan" is for Jewel to return several months later to perform concerts and to play a few festivals. It's going to be awhile before any of that tour itinerary is confirmed and details become available.Simply keep an eye on Jewel's website calendar for accurate information as it is confirmed. Speaking of which, I just finished updating it again and there's a bunch more TV info for this week and next, in addition to what was mentioned in yesterday's JeweLink. Check it out. I'll be out of touch until next week, so I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and/or weekend. MrBB ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V6 #595 ***************************
