Last year I think it was Pearl Jam, they got their fans to choose from 3 songs they wanted to perform and vote. Maybe Jewel would do something like that? I agree that LMJLMA would work really well for Jewel and her album sales - who would expect Jewel to start rocking out on live TV? Especially when most people think she's all-acoustic. It'd be cool. I have a question......and I am sorry that this has nothing what so ever to do with Jewel. I am trying to figure out who sings a song that my sisters heard somewhere and now they won't stop singing it. I wanted to buy them the cd for Christmas. Some of the Lyrics are........"there's so many colors in a rainbow, there's so many colors in a morning sun" Some one said that they think Jim Croce sang it, but I haven't had any luck finding it. So if any one knows the name of the song or who sings it please let me know. (You would make mine and my sisters' day!!) Thank you!!! This usually shows how the album is going in our state, the only one's above it were Kylie Minogue's new album (she's Australian anyways, that's why she's there) and Pink Floyd's new best of album. I also just noticed for all of you that are not too fond of Britney Spears that her new album here debuted at 4 but then dropped to 14 the week after in the Aus charts. Let's hope "This Way" manages to stay in the top 10 or so for a few more weeks and hopefully reaches number #1. Also I really hope once Jewel goes on tour that she brings out a Tour Edition with an extra CD with more songs from Nashville or just some more live songs. I believe this would be a pretty cool thing to do, and would probably boost her album into the charts at that time when she's touring that country. It happened with Dido's - No Angel here which is still at number #12 last week and slipped to #18 this week after 42 weeks in the charts and she just toured recently in Oct here. Maybe everyone should give their suggestions for a tour edition bonus album and maybe Mr BB might consider it, if he or Jewel's label hasn't already. Only problem is we will have to all go and buy the CD again ;) Take Care Daniel "There is a paradise that can be found... A better life to bring us round... And all we really need to do... Subject: RE: [EDA] the old band > maybe as the old guys finish tours with other groups they will filter back > in with > jewel! that would be sooooooooo GREAT! ----------------------- It's already been stated several times that the line up you see now, as well as the one you saw at Humphrey's (minus Steve), is going to be her touring band for 2002. No one is going to filter back in. The guys were hired to do that one tour, in 1999-2000. That's it. They've moved on now. > by the end of the spirit tour they really got to know how each other > played, and they could really feed off of eachother. > I'm sure this will occur with the new lineup as well. Just takes time to get to learn each other's style, etc. The first few gigs the other band played weren't nearly as polished as the later ones. > wwsys will never be the same without doug and jewels guitar/singing > competions!! cus we know that song will never stop being sung, it hasnt > stopped for 10 years hahah. > It hasn't even been around for 10 years...haha. If there ANYTHING like it on pop radio right now? No. Do you think pop radio would EVER play a song that has a bluesy slide guitar part at the beginning? No way. Standing Still is not the BEST song on the CD at all.. but it is one of the more radio friendly pop-ish songs on the CD, and therefore a good choice as a single. DYWTP is similarly radio friendly (perhaps more so) and also a good choice. If pop radio was based around MY taste in songs... The New Wild West would be the next single.. but it's not. If she continues at this pace she'll get close to 180 000 copies sold by the time the full chart comes through (that's half what spirit made). I think #8 is the lowest that she'll go - but she could end up further up the chart. It's VERY close. Enrique Iglesias is a thousand copies ahead of her.... and madonna is about 4000 copies ahead of her.. and even Shakira isn't that far away. If she did pick up the pace toward the end of last week then she could make it up to #6 or so. I doubt she'll crack the top 5.. but at least we know she's cracked the top 10. Check out www.hitsdailydouble.com to follow the album sales for yourself. steve ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Nov 2001 14:24:20 EST From: NeOblCar@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Jewel goes PC I didn't see this mentioned so far, but it sounds like on LMJLMA that Jewel changed the word midget to minions ... that's cool and all, but now the line makes no sense. Midgets flapping tiny arms makes sense - minions and tiny arms doesn't. I am not looking for a big discussion, but I wonder at what point we just say f' it and say what we mean. Again, it's cool and all to be respectful of others, but I wouldn't care if Jewel said, "balding mid-aged men start flapping their weakly computer typing arms all about" why would anyone get upset about lyrics - they are just trying to paint a picture. == Rob == ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V6 #592 ***************************
