Showbiz: THIS WAY Jewel (Atlantic/Warner) SCORE: 3/5 This Way is definitely the way to go for Jewel Kilcher. After the confining seriousness and studio polish of 1998's Spirit, this third CD from the Alaska-raised singer-songwriter finds her loosening and lightening up, adding a touch of rootsy grit to her folk-and-country-based songs while maintaining a pop sensibility a la Sheryl Crow or Bonnie Raitt. Religion and romance are the themes of the day, and while we have to applaud Jewel for having the conscience to tackle topics like abortion and gender politics, her lyrics can be childishly naive -- or do most 27-year-old women still refer to breasts as "ta-tas?" Ah well, one thing at a time. At least This Way is a step in the right direction. scott.evans [[mind is DISCONNECTED. but my heart is WIRED.]] AOL IM: sevans112 . Yahoo! He also wrote "Jewel" on there as if I would forget who that blonde haired lady who kept hoggin the spotlight all night was ;) Well, I'm sure T-Bone is a pretty common nickname, maybe even more so in the music industry. Or maybe he just reminded that lady, what's her name again?, of the old T-Bone so she just started calling that. - -Billy - ---------- >From: Mike Connell >To: "Karacostas, Derrick W." , jewel@smoe.org >Subject: Re: [EDA] t-bone...old or new? >Date: Fri, Nov 16, 2001, 2:06 AM > > At 03:07 AM 11/16/01, you wrote: >>Does anyone know if the guy playing bass for Jewel now is the same guy who >>played with her at Jewelstock?
