I remember her forgetting the first line and them screaming it to her... As for the Aussie single...I'm pretty sure Stephenville is from Nashville...I want to say so is Long Slow Slide, but I'm not crazy about that song so I really didn't pay much attention when she did it at Nashville. Not likely these are the same recordings unless one has the last 31 seconds chopped off. LOL Where the 2 are from I can't verify but I think the USA one is from Nashville. Don't know about the other though. What does everyone else think? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Nov 2001 00:15:33 -0600 From: "New World Warehouse" Subject: RE: [EDA] NJC: baby Taylor I used to work as a guitar manager at Guitar Center here in Dallas. I really wouldn't suggest a Baby Taylor unless you really want something portable and don't care much about sound. The Baby Taylor is basically a half sized acoustic and sounds like it. Larivee is a really good brand and they make some cheaper models. Also, Martin has the DMX (not like the rapper) model that is pretty cheap and sounds nice. Its really according to what you want to use it for and what your price range is. I play Ovation just because it works good live without having to do a lot of re-mixing on the sound desk when you've been playing electric most of the night. Ovations work better plugged in than on their own. Ibanez makes good acoustics, but you have to get their mid-range priced guitars at least to get a decent sounding one. The Martin back pack is horrible, I don't understand what makes it so popular besides brand name. Email me private and give me a little more info on what you like and stuff and maybe I can help you out a bit more. Lew www.coilback.com Date: Thu, 15 Nov 2001 22:35:34 -0800 From: Uri Cancio Subject: [EDA] NJC: baby Taylor Anyone here owns a Baby Taylor? I went guitar shopping today, I want another guitar that's not too expensive, that sounds good and I can take everywhere and if something happens to it I won't die. I have a Taylor and it doesn't leave my house, 'cause it cost me too much, I sacrificed a lot to save for it and it's my most priced posession. Maybe in the future I could get a better Taylor and this one could be my 2nd guitar, but in the way things are going and the economy, don't see it near.. So , I played a bunch of the less expensive ones, Yamaha, Ibanez, Ovation (terrible) the Martin back pack.. and the guy told me to get a Baby.. they didn't have it..they're going to order it for me, but before I get it, I would like to get some suggestions..if anyone has any, pls let me know.... txs Uri ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Nov 2001 00:19:57 -0600 From: "New World Warehouse" Subject: RE: [EDA] thank you credits Well I think over the years some people tend to know you are greatful and especially if you are having to conserve space on your liner notes you just cut out people you've already thanked many times over and stick to the more recent ones. I know if I had to go back and thank everyone that deserved it just from my humble spot in the "music world" (mind you it's a tiny little spot), I would take up most of the stinking cover and I haven't even got a major label deal yet. Look at it this way, some artists use all that space to put extensive thank you's and you don't get any lyrics. It's either that or the record company has to pay for a 30 page booklet....mind you it's all a theory...maybe he pissed her off or something...who knows ;-) Not like a lot of people read that part anyway... Especially since he helped get her career going and they are best friends. Also how come he isn't joining her band? Just curious...... Subject: [EDA] NJC: Shakira's performance on Leno Absolutely amazing. I continue to be mesmerized by the amount of attitude she displays with each performance...as well as allowing her personality to shine through. The good belly dancing doesn't hurt either. :-) That had to be the most entertaining performance I've seen on Leno in a long time...maybe years. Britney usually does a pretty good job at that, but I think Shakira topped her. And she did it with class. Sexy, sensual, yet classy, if that makes sense. I remember first seeing her while watching last year's latin grammy awards. Seeing her nominated along with people like Christina Aguilera for best female artist. When Shakira won, I figured she had to be huge in latin america. I had only vaguely heard of her before then. I knew she had a huge following though so it's not too surprising to see her breaking out this big in the states now...similar to how Ricky Martin did. I think she'll be around a long time. Of course this is her 4th CD now, which I wasn't aware of until tonight. But the other 3 are all spanish. While I'm still in the beginning stages of her music, I've pretty much concluded that she would be great to see in concert...I think well worth the money. Good voice, lots of attitude and stage presence, and the band has a great sound. Plus it's extremely entertaining to watch. :-) Hope some of you had a chance to check her out tonight. STANDING STILL: love this song, i have ever since the first time i heard it during the sound check at humphreys! i love the organization of it. its absolutely beautiful, especiall the vocals in the chorus, and my mom loves it! JESUS LOVES YOU: heheh love the ta-tas line... it will always be one of those memorable jewel lines for me! i laughed so hard when i first heard it at humphreys. my favorite part is the scratchy vocals on the "will you give me a second chance" line, i always love the scratchy jewel! EVERYBODY NEEDS SOMEONE SOMETIME: yeeeehhaaaaa... its got that country twang........ "its just like chocolate... i loooovve iiiitt"-jewel. this song kicks ass and always has, since the first time i saw it on the radio shack concert... i crack up everytime i watch that video and shes making up the last verse, she makes the cutest faces hehehe. BREAK ME: this is one of the sweetest jewel songs to date! i will always be a sucker for the acoustic versions of this song, but i think that the insturmentals were done very appropriately! and i can listen to a solo version of it whenever i want. i love this song..... jewels in love and that makes me happy!!! DO YOU WANT TO PLAY?: the first time i heard this song on storytellers i felt like something was missing....... but on this version there aint a thing missing! i love it more and more with every time i hear it!!! very catchy... it would be a really cool single! TILL WE RUN OUT OF ROAD: very cool song. my favorite part is the shitty food part, well that whole verse where her voice is fuzzy, it just makes me wanna listen to it again. and holy crap her vocals are insanely beautiful on the chorus!!!! SERVE THE EGO: 3 feelings come to me.... pee pants.... orgasm.... rip hair out!!! thats how i feel when i hear this song. the indian esque vocals she does during the insturmental part is INCREADABLE, first of all id never heard her do that with her voice before, out of all the jewel ive heard, and thats a lot of jewel! but god damn i hear that one part of that song and it makes me go insane... like an orgasmic insanity!! its increadible and you can just tell she has complete control over every note! this is definately one of my favorites on the album! THIS WAY: what can i say this is such a beautiful love song!!! i love it sooooo much! the deep voice portion of the song is my favorite part for sure! CLEVELAND: ive always loved this song way back in the poy days!!! it just makes my "toes curl"... im listening to it right now... and i just wanna bounce all over the place!!! i think this weekend ill watch my old video of it from the tiny ligths tour!! i cant wait.... and shes sooo cute when she sings it! what can i say i love this song!!! I WONT WALK AWAY: this song is increadibly beautiful!!! ive thought so ever since i first hear it during the sound check at humphreys... i coudnt understand one word she said, but my mouth was dropped in aw of its beauty!! LOVE ME JUST LEAVE ME ALONE: HELL YEAH!!! i have always loved this song, and her screaming at the end... and she pulled off the scream on the album, im so proud of her for trasforming so much in the studio... GO JEWEL!!! i love the beginning!! now i dont know why people are so upset about the missing verse... its been gone since the beginning of the spirit tour! THE NEW WILD WEST: when i first heard this song at humphreys my mouth dropped and i was drueling and thinking "holy shit... no she didnt" the whole time!!! this song is amazing... its by far her most impressive song writing to date! WOW! i think that the insturmentals are perfect for the feel of the song. this song is definately one of her most lyric driven and lyrical masterpieces yet, to me anyway. it goes in my category of lyricly amazing songs along with nicotine love, sometimes it be that way, memoirs of a housewife...just to name a few. this is definately one of me all time favorite songs! POWERFUL!! GREY MATTER: this song always makes me teary.... and ive always loved it for that!!! the echo really adds to the mood! SOMETIMES IT BE THAT WAY: what can i say its sometime it be that way... this is one of her number one kick ass songs!!! but im not upset about the missing verse, i have plenty of other versions with that verse... plus the fact that she couldnt even remember the first line should have been a hint that she might forget some lyrics. i have versions where shes left out other parts. and its not that slow... the slowest version i own is from the POY tour... although so is that fastest. it all depends on her mood! so all i have left to say is my little point about the older songs. that point being that since so many of us own, or have heard, so many versions of these older songs, that we shouldnt compare them, but instead just see them as different versions of the same song. for example LMJLMA, i dont own any 2 versions of that song that are alike... and i love that! jewel never sings the same song the same way twice, and thats all just part of the fun of being a jewel fan, tons of versions of the same song and none sounding alike!! so overall this album is AWSOME!!! it hasnt left my cd player since i got it!!! well other than when i sleep... this album will only keep me awake!! this is like jewels wake up call to the world saying "look what i can do, im not just the singer of ywmfm, wwsys, and hands!! anyway, if youve read this far......... YOUR INSANE!!!! hahaha but thanks for reading! the very VERY HAPPY angel now and zen girl - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Nov 2001 06:51:09 +0000 From: "now and zen girl" Subject: [EDA] trl and the band first of all... no that is not tony hall... and no that is not steve george. its t-bone and i dont know how else, but he was not the same guy as from the humphreys shows, neither was the drummer or the acoustic guitar player. but, i like t-bone... for one its cus i play bass, and he shows hes getting into the music, which i love! t-bone moves like a bass player, unless you play bass i guess that doesnt make sense... he moves on the beat... bus hes playing the beat. but god i sure to miss the old band.... especially brady and the "fashion statement" douglet hehehe hes so awsome, i kinda talked to him and got his guitar pick! i got tonys too! i also like the guitarists... cant say much about the pianist... but that guitar player you guys are all picking on is from alaska too so is the drummer if he is the one from humphreys, so thats kinda neat. but i think they are all cool guys so far. we just have to get to know them like we did with the othe guys. as for trl jewel was amazing, she seemed very comfortable. her and carson always do good interveiws, theyre buddys. and i loved her jeans, and i loved her hair, and i thought her shirt was cute, and the shoes were great! my trl and band review... im all about the reviews lately!! alisa - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Nov 2001 02:09:15 -0500 (EST) From: Jessica Park Subject: [EDA] Tees tease Regarding "loose" band t-shirts-- So am I the only one who bought the fitted ribbed tanktop with "Jewel" embroidered on the chest during the "Spirit" tour?
