They had two baby doll style shirts, one tank top style (with the thin straps) and another long sleeve baby doll style. I think artists are slowly getting the hint they need something besides just plain ol tee-shirts...I know I've seen a couple of other artists have stuff like that. Another trend, at least around here is for bands to have thong panties with their logo on the front....no complaints from my end...heh. Lew www.coilback.com Date: Tue, 13 Nov 2001 10:40:53 -0600 From: "Kristie Biggs" Subject: [EDA] Mechendise Why is it that everyone (singers) sell T-shirts. Big, sloppy tee-shirts. I always end up buying one if I go to a concert or something, but I never wear them. I think artists should start putting out more feminine shirts for their female fans. Just a thought. I just always feel ugly and sloppy when I have on some oversized tee-shirt, anyone else feel this way? Jewel has out some cool looking merch, but I just know I wouldn't wear any of it...well the shirts anyway, I might grab a cap. Anyway....yada yada ya. Are there any other women on the list that feel this way? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Nov 2001 14:32:21 -0500 From: "jake skyles" Subject: [EDA] tv guide channel Hi, Om the TV guide channels music news today Jewel is featured. I got a fitted shirt with the Aerosmith logo in glitter. I haven't looked at the new stuff yet, but I hardly ever wear my other Jewel shirts. Did you all pick up your copy? >>I can't pick out ONE bad song on this entire album.<< Well... There are the occasionally bad apples. I don't really like The New Wild West. And as much as I hate to say this... The live songs should not be on there. I mean.. I love the songs and all.. its just that... she could have used that space to put other songs... recorded songs... I wish she could have put Gods Gift To Women on there... thought it prolly wouldn't have gone together with the album. >>I think the best song on the album though(it's hard to choose...but), i >>think it might be "This Way". It's such a sweet song, and I love the >>lyrics.<< I totally agree with John on this one. This Way is a fantastic song!! I love it so much! Her voice is so.... so... I can't even describe it. Thats why when i read that she hated doing that song, it made me feel sad 'cause its one of my favorites! I just hope she doesn't change it if she releases it as a single, like she changed YWMFM. But YWMFM was good either way! :D I'm gonna have to say this is my favorite album yet! Although.. Spirit is my 2nd fav. Even though a lot of people don't seem to like it much. POY was a bit slow. I'm not too fond of slow songs. Jewel is better when she ROCKS!! :D ~Jewel Fan~ http://www.angelfire.com/sk/killorgeteven (long story about the name of the URL. Well, with This Way I am back (well, been back for about a week now, but been too busy to say hello..) I must admit I missed the list more than I thought possible.. I guess one month does not easily erase almost five years... For those of you that emailed me when I left, Thank you. I didn't expect such a response, and it was hard not to resub right then... Anyway, being a dirty construction worker I was up before dawn by force of habit, and walking out of my not-so-local WalMart with a new CD before the sun was too far above the horizon. This Way.... Where to start? Well, I couldn't hold onto my patience and so quickly skipped to "Cleveland" which once was known (and to me still) as "You're in Cleaved Today." It has always been one of my favorite songs, and ever since the track list was posted I've been dying to hear it. Honestly, after Spirit I was scared to listen to it... The older version of "Enter from the East" had always been a favorite, and three years ago I skipped to it first, and was highly disappointed.. (curiously, both "enter from the East", and "Cleveland" are the ninth track on their respective CDs)... Again I was disappointed, but not nearly as much than in 98. Honestly, I do like the older version of "you're In Cleveland Today" better, but this new version is decent though I guess. (check the old one out at the audio only page at: http://members.aol.com/jewelpage/ ) So, afraid of the bad omen I quickly went on to the other old tracks on the CD... Grey Matter: I was thrust back into my teenage years of staying up all night talking, and listening to my worn-out angelfood. Her and her guitar... as it started, and as some of us would be quick to say " as it should be." Still a beautiful song that holds fairly true to some of the older versions.... STIBTW.. Ah, again memoires of singing along to worn out tapes, and later with EDAs... This version is a tad slower than some from around 96-97, but not as slow as the ones that dragged on during the Spirit tour... And also, it is the short version, minus the "electricity chases its tail down the hall" verse... Still a solid song... LMJLMA starts rather slow, which worried me, but before the end I caught myself dancing as much as I ever dance (which isn't much ;-) ) For a studio recording, she did quite well at capturing the energy that this song deserves, but.. (yes, but..) Truly this is a song one can only fully appreciate when heard live, in person. I dunno, maybe its the feel of the soundwaves hitting you, the dancing, yelling crowd around you... It and "Down" both are like that.. but truly, this song rocks on the CD, including the "Race car Driver-esqe" last line. Break Me... still a considered a new song by me (lol) not a bad version, though again, I kinda like the first version that circulated on the list awhile back.. (I know, you're starting to think I'm afraid of change! ) For the rest of the songs... all quite solid, some I like more than others, but for sure this is not POY revisited, nor is it Spirit thrust back upon us in a black cover... I haven't found any songs on it that I just truly dislike, even Serve the Ego, which I didn't much care for on TV (letterman maybe?) came out quite nice, and different. So far of the new songs Til We Run Out of Road is my favorite (and yes, the Texan co-writing might be part of why it is my favorite..lol) - ------------------ Truly, I like the album... I do wish (again) she would have played guitar more on it, I do wish Steve was on it, but maybe I am afraid of change :-) A line in "This Way" reminds me of Last Dance Rodeo, as do a couple of things in other songs (not counting the quote), including the verse of "Everyone Needs Someone Sometime" even reminds me of a 'burns song! Which makes it even more fun to listen to, to pick things out and remember them... anyway there is my first glance at the cd.. maybe more later rowdy ps, sorry if the spacing in the email went to hell after I pasted it from AOL.. it does that sometimes - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Nov 2001 20:04:09 From: "Rowdy White" Subject: [EDA] Home is everywhere you are.... Subject: FW: [EDA] Target Many Wal Marts have most of their new CD's on sale the first few days...sometimes under $12. I bought a new CD last week for $11.88 at one. Anything under $12 isn't too bad. Best Buy's another good choice...they always have pretty low prices. I've bought a few new release CD's from there over the past several months for $9.99. I think the price for Target is pretty standard, and wouldn't correlate it with any extensive promotion on Jewel's part. That seems like a pretty average new CD price for a discount store. > ---------- > From: Kristie Biggs[SMTP:KristieBiggs@bankunited.com] > Sent: Tuesday, November 13, 2001 2:13 PM > To: jewel@smoe.org > Subject: [EDA] Target > > For those of you who haven't gotten your copy of This Way yet, they have > it at Target for $11.99. I love the beginning, I think it sounds awesome. It is very different and maybe that is why some people are scared. I really like "Everybody Needs Someone Sometimes" as well, although that was another "country sounding" soung that scared everyone. I admit I pretty much don't like what she did to "Break Me" but it is still sweet. And of course I still love The "New Wild West." I don't mind the slowness of "SIBTW", and I think her voice sounds amazing on the 2 Nashville tracks. I am very excited.. very...
