What do you do for a living? Most execs deal with "shennanigans" all day from their employees, bosses, and partners. I think that it is quite repugnant that you have removed him from the list. What a great example of the "freedom" that you profess Jewel is all about. I've been a part, and still am a part, of many active lists that have rantings such as the ones here the last couple of days and have never seen a list owner get so incredibly stressed over such ridiculous petty things. You really personalize this too much, which is a fault, at least in my opinion. It seems that you either need assistance with this list, or need to step-down if it is indeed hindering your way of life, or your psyche so much. Regardless of what you claim Derrick has done in private, and regardless of what you think you are "catching" him in with this email (which you really seem to miss the point and read into the whole thing wrong), you should no t kick him off the list for simply having an opinion contrary to yours. You and this list has changed over the years, and for the worst, I must say. It's sad that you feel this list is such a weight on your shoulders....perhaps it would be wiser served to address the bigger picture rather than the single incidents. With all due respect, George, I am not missing the point. Perhaps you missed mine, though. You are correct that Mike doesn't HAVE to put up with any crap, but that is indeed a resposibility he took on when deciding to run such a list. It is he that puts so much pressure on himself to participate so actively and to be so affected by these things. Now, is that a good thing? Sure, on a humanistic side. On a business side (which this list is not), it is not a wise idea. My inference to Jewel's "freedom of speech" was meant to query whether she would agreee with shutting someone out of a free discussion forum, period. And yes, in the real world, I have said things to piss bosses off and have sometimes not done it with the best attitude. It apparently hasn't adversely affected me as I sit here a VP of Marketing for a major firm in NYC, at the mere age of 26. Now, as for "stupid" things, surely not. But, that is assuming that I agree that what Derrick said was "stupid", which I do not. Remember, sometimes what you view as rude, strange, or even "stupid" can insight thought and change ideas and emotions. Anyway, just wanted to clarify that. If you refer back, you will see that my question was what "confines" you are specifically referring to. There are various definitions and understandings of appropriate discussion list behaviors. So, my query was to whether you were referring to some confine that is associated with this list in particular, some other list, or a set of rules that you have adopted on your own. I'm actually not a visual learner, but thank you for the offer. Indeed, in this instance, I do feel that I am superior, as again, you failed to even reply in a logical manner, and evaded my question entirely. You chose to, instead, get defensive, and not accomplish any part of what I asked. As there was little substance in your original post, there really wasn't a "right or wrong" answer or position within it. Therefore, your grammar was the only thing to comment on, especially since you chose to imply that I was not a genius. By the way, you also misspelled "grammar," so before you go insinuating that people are less intelligent than you, you should go back to elementary English classes. And what is "casual righting?"
