Hi all, The people who were around about a year ago may remember that guy, what was his name? Cant remember now, but he said that he got his period at a Jewel concert and it was the best day of his life. Remember what a stir it caused? I think it's all getting out of hand when people write to this list and have their say (even though it's been said a half a dozen times), using swear words and placing the blame. It isn't going to change the way Derrick thinks and feels, so keep it to yourselves, I really didn't want to get up again to this many emails, thanks for the thought guys, but it's not the kind of gift you appreciate! ;) One of the amazing things (I find) about Jewel is her ability to speak her mind. THAT'S what makes her stand out from a crowd. She doesn't write only about loves and loves lost, she writes about war, hate, peace. If I remember and interrperate Pieces of You correctly, that song is about giving people a fair go , and being mean to them because you fear you're just like them. All hate is born out of fear. Let Derrick be, don't fill our inboxes up with stuff we don't want to read. It's bad enough hearing about Michelle Branches' concert every third email - if I wanted to hear about her, I would have joined a list related to her; so please, don't let it also become a "DERRICKS SO BAD!/DERRICK ROCKS!" list, I really joined it for info on -Jewel-. Everyone has the right to express what the feel, but can we do it in private to the people who care? :) Or maybe Ill go set up a Derrick rocks/sucks list so you can all battle it out in there! Hehe! This puts me in an interesting situation. I'm not a fan of Derrick, never have been. My OPINION is that he is fairly negative and loves to nit-pick at things, but as I stated, it's just an opinion. As much as Derrick likes to spout off about stating "THE TRUTH", they are opinion as well, and he does say that every so often. No one really knows "THE TRUTH". Life and reality are all perception. That picture on the wall may exist to you, but it doesn't to a blind man, the colors don't exist to a bull, etc. What I'm saying is what some people can say is concrete truth, doesn't mean anything to someone else. Derrick seems to have a pretty high opinion of himself, and while that is annoying as all hell, it is not a crime. Before all this came about, I just got in the habit of scrolling past his remarks, because when it's all said and done, his remarks have no power unless someone reads them. That's the great thing about this list, you can see who posted the stuff and just scroll past or delete them. In all honesty, MOST of the time, I don't read his posts until I see a crapload of people responding, then I go back to see what I must have missed. Derrick is not Bin Laden or anything. He's not an evil person, just not a real likable "internet personality". A lot of people act different in person than they do on the net (I'll admit, I don't like to, because I have enough trouble keeping up with this one personality). I don't, from what I hear about Derrick, he's not all that bad in person (for the most part). Derrick AND this list do NOT deserve all of this. The message and mission of the EDA's has been lost in all the hate and negativity. There's enough problems going on in the world right now, we need this list to give us hope, not cause more problems. If you have a problem with Derrick and want to tell him, do it privately. If you want to share your opinion about booting him tell Mike. Lets not turn this into the Entire Derrick Analyzing (it's the best EDA thing I could come up with, so shut up). Jewel's about to release a CD and all we can do is talk about Derrick. I don't want a reply to this post on the list...if you want to tell me, tell me privately. I will not guarantee a reply because, as I said, if something annoys me, I delete it and I'm done with it. This list has the priviledge of free speech. With that freedom comes TOLERANCE. If he wants to rip into someone, fine, just don't pay attention and DON'T RESPOND. You do more to make the list positive by just ignoring the negativity than trying to combat it. Only when it gets this out of hand do I even try to say anything anymore. If you feel you are a true EDA in your heart, then you know that what we must do is to try and get things back to a more positive level. Stop responding to the Derrick situation and it WILL go away. If you cannot read his posts without feeling negative, then ignore them. It's all just a bunch of pixels. You are in control of your computer, don't let it or him hold power over you. Reset yourself and think of something positive and then send it to the list. Let's see how many people can actually show they know what EDAs are all about (or at least what I think they are about).
