Hello Jewelfans, Once again i tell you that ATLANTIC records and the Jewel streetteam and other promotional supporters for Jewel should really really consider to release a live dvd with great performances of Jewel4s phenomenal tunes. i can4t understand that almost 7 years since Jewel is active in business for Atlantic records that they don4t consider to share great moments with her fans. And i mean what should be more fun than to show to the fans LIVE dvd4s. The corrs releases them (unplugged, lowndowns road, royal albert hall gig) and also bjork is going to release 3 live dvd4s. I hope i really hope that the next thing they will release is the DVD from jewel4s great archive from beautiful performances. Let us be happy, the jewelfans deserve it!!!!!! Mainly since if that particular radio station DJ already knows, the half the world would by now and it would be all over the tabloids too. It's probably something much less "exciting", like, just that there's going to be a DVD released the same day as her CD, or something like that. I thought she looked good. She dressed "grungy" so her hair was good for that look. As far as her in general, I like that she keeps it real. You always hear about stars who starve themselves to get that certain part, or gain 20 pounds for the same reason. I don't think Jewel does that, nor does she have to. She knows she is a beautiful person, even with her little pudge (tell me you don't have one!!!). Also, in Chasing Down the Dawn, did you see the picture labeled "Just the 3 of us: my brother, me, and my pot belly". She's proud of who she is, and should be. Look at her accomplishments before you judge her body!! Christy the Tattoed angel 8)~~~* ===== "Lend your voices only to sounds of freedom." -- Jewel Make a great connection at Yahoo! I cannot believe that people so in love with Jewel and her music would say such things about her appearance. She is an amazing woman. Not everyone needs to have the "perfect look." And I admire her for being herself on the inside as well as on the outside. By allowing herself to be a little less than "perfect," as defined by society, she is telling women all over the world that it's okay to be that way. To those who criticize her appearance: it is people like you that make so many girls, teens and women obsess about their bodies. And it's you that has helped cause so many of those females to die from anorexia, bulimia, etc. Being on the road to recovery from bulimia, I feel as though Jewel reassured me that it is okay to look, as I said, a little less than "perfect." She is beautiful! Courtney the Dancing Angel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Oct 2001 17:46:03 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Subject: [EDA] Love her or not I guess some of "us" aren't "in love" with Jewel. I think therein lies one of the main problems with this list...too many people think they ARE in love with her. So anytime someone says something even remotely "negative" or "constructively criticizes" something about her, many others get offended. And it's fine with me personally if a female (or male) chooses to eat as much or as little as they want to. But I wouldn't particularily care to look at a 300 pound woman in a bikini...see the idea? That's just an extreme example, but I think that's what some of the others are trying to say. It's fine if people don't care how they look, but at least dress accordingly. I'm all about going against the "norm" for society, but at least have some decency. I'm not saying Jewel isn't decent, but maybe some thought her belly protruding from the bottom of her top was getting a bit close to that. Then again, some guys may find that attractive. It's really all about opinion, but just remember that not everyone on this list is head over heels in love with Jewel. They may admire certain aspects about her, and disagree with other things about her, but they too have the right to criticize her just as much as anyone else has the right to praise her. I won't even touch the topic of anorexia and bulimia. I have strong opinions about that. I'll just say that I personally have never "helped" anyone kill themselves...for any reason. And I'd be willing to bet no one else on this list has either. And I don't know of anyone else who has either. Girls and guys choose not to eat for a variety of reasons. But I don't think people are physically depriving them of food. I realize overweight people may have a hard time in school, growing up, etc...with kids teasing and stuff like that, but there are plenty of places and resources to get help for that, if it's taking a mental toll on ones self. I don't really think Jewel cares all that much about looking "perfect". But everyone on this list still has a right to say whatever they want about her, whether others agree with it or not. > ---------- > From: COURTDOG1@aol.com[SMTP:COURTDOG1@aol.com] > Sent: Monday, October 29, 2001 5:25 PM > To: jewel@smoe.org > Subject: [EDA] Her cute tummy and beautiful hair! > > I cannot believe that people so in love with Jewel and her music would say > > such things about her appearance. I wrote a couple of days ago to let you know that Jewel had debuted at #39 with Standing Still on the Australian singles chart. A number of people wrote back saying they didn't think this was very imrpessive at all! Turns out this chart debut is by FAR the highest debut Jewel has ever had on the Australian sales chart over her entire career!!! Here's the email I got from Aria.com.au (the australian recording industry, who releases these charts): "Jewel's debut this week may have been helped by the fact that over the past week or so she has been on a promotional tour "Down Under", but nevertheless this is her fifth Australia top 100 single and the first to debut any higher than No.67. For your information, (and to help you gauge how this one might fare over the coming weeks) her previous top 100 singles have been: Who will save your soul #27 Sep 1996 (debut #74) You were meant for me #3 Jun 1997 (debut #79) (Platinum) Foolish Games #12 Nov 1997 (debut #95) (Gold) Hands #25 Dec 1998 (debut #67) (Gold) I hope this helps, but keep an eye on the ARIA Charts to watch her progress in coming weeks! Regards Ian" So.. to all those who thought this wasn't very "good"... THINK AGAIN! This is the best debut she's had over there! Go Jewel!
