I don't know what World Series you guys were watching. If I was going to be picky I would say "maybe" her hair was a little "unnatural" for lack of a better word. Just a little too much hair spray. I like Jewel's more natural look. I still think she looked great though and agree that they should have showed up much more, but in all fairness they did the same to all the singers. I felt bad for Emylou Harris though. The microphone kept swinging away that she couldn't play the guitar and hold the microphone at the same time. But she was still pretty good, she just had to sing it acopella (if that's how you spell it), instead of acoustic. Anyway, Jewel looked amazing as ever, but I understand some of the criticizims that it's not her usual natural beauty. At least it's something new and she's still the same very beautiful Jewel. People are fans of artists of all types for many reasons, even superficial ones. Why else would we treat our stars like royalty? Do you honestly think it's because of pure, raw talent? Hell, I'm a Brittney Spears fan because of her abs. I could watch her dance all day - and I'm a girl! So, yes, I would venture to say there are many on this list that like Jewel because of her tits. She wanted it that way. As for her hair, I'd say I'd have to agree with this stream of posts. It's not hair gel. I think it's quite unforgiveable to have hair the would even appear "greasy" for a performance, especially when you have make-up artists and hair stylists at your disposal. And on a final note, I think those that share their feelings, whether they be all pink and fuzzy about Jewel or not, DO show character...much more character than those that treat or speak of Jewel like a demiGod. He said he will call me tonight. He told me he is suprised that someone hasn't grabbed her up by now!??? I told him that alot of people have approached me about her singing. I also assured him that i never take her to places like that to sing. He said the people really were impressed with her Saturday night. He told me that he had heard about a little girl being invited into Billy Gilman's tour bus the night he sang in our hometown. I told him that it was Ciara. I explained that Billys manager...his vocal coach had Ciara singing for her several songs that night and had called Billys mom on the cell phone and Ciara sang to her over the phone. It was really funny that night because Ciara was just as calm as ever and i was super nervous...i just couldn't believe we were on this bus (he was using Destiny's Child tour bus because his bus was being repaired) but i did keep my cool and remained quiet...i think i was alittle in shock!?? I just felt so out of place. Well he said he is suprised the manager didn't take Ciara...so i told him that i had told the manager that Ciara was going to Tenessee in July to record her own CD (she was awarded a free certificate for a 10 hour recording session through a local audio store...i did not have to pay for this recording) and she gave me her card and asked that i give her a call after Billys tour and she said she would like to hear the CD. She also told me that she can tell Ciara has a talent with her voice....told me that she sounds just like Billy did when she first started working with him. I told her that Ciara gets standing ovations when she sings Billys song "One Voice." Actually that is how we got invited on the bus is because of Ciara's singing. All the kids were outside Billys bus chanting Billy, Billy and finally he opened his window and was talking to the kids and then he asked if anyone could sing One Voice and Ciara, hidden in the crowd, started jumping up and down yelling "I can" and he said go ahead and sing it...i think he was alittle suprised and he asked her to please come up to his window to sing it...and the next thing i knew there were acouple other people on the bus that came to the window and his manager told me to bring the whole family and come down to the door and we disappeared inside the bus...Billy never did go back to his window to talk to the other kids and i really felt guilty Ciara taking him away like that. But anyway it was an experience that Ciara will never forget. She asked him if he liked Jewel (that was her very first question to him) and he said he did and then i told him that it was Jewel that inspired Ciara and brought out all the singing in her. He told her that he had met Jewel at the AMC awards in June. Together, Ciara and Billy sang several songs together including hands and the song by Leann Rimes "cowboy sweetheart". I was so suprised that he yodels exactly the same way Ciara does. (nothing like Jewels perfect yodeling) We were on the bus for an hour. Well i haven't yet mailed her the CD... they live in Rhode Island and i am sure that if she wanted to work with Ciara, i would probably have to move??? not to mention her hourly fee....probably very expensive and i am not rich!! This man also told me about Ed McMahon and his show called "next big star" and that they will soon be in Michigan to have auditions and that i should take her. I looked it up on this computer and the show will be in Detroit on Thursday! But i don't know if i should take her because its during school time. Can you all believe that Ciara has never missed one day of school? She really is a very focused child and insists on perfect attendance in all her activities. She has only been sick once in her life...at age 3 she got the flu. Anyway he is going to call me tonight with some phone numbers...i never asked him whose numbers...i'll just wait and see what he is talking about when he calls me back. Sorry for this long email. Since i have told all about our experience with Billy, it is only fair that i also mention that he is a very, very, very kind little boy!! He was very excited to have Ciara and her brother and cousin on the bus. He took them to the back of the bus and showed them around...he gave each of them a Billy Gilman teddy bear. The kids were so happy! My little boy went to the bathroom and couldn't get out. I guess the doors have push buttons and Billy had to coach him on how to get the door open. I think Billy was probably alittle excited about doing his show and he was very talkative...i do remember his manager yelling to him "SAVE YOUR VOCALS!" Bye for now, Sheila.
