"Music Fair 21" which is long term beloved programme at over here, except young ages..you'll guess it's a flat one. In a harf hour Jewel sang two songs, Hands and Standing Still. and other artists has performed such songs.. "Imagine","Where have all the flowers gone","Sukiyaki". There was brief interview to Jewel and she looks like embarrassed with host to the end. At the last Jewel joined to all performers and they're gonna take a picture of them but she's still looks embarrassed! hahhaha, poor Jewel. I like her fluffy hair and western style with BIG buckle, Rules! So i took her to this place that is very close to home (a bar, and i never do this at a bar because i really don't feel right about it at her young age) and she sang the National Anthem and One Voice. The people just couldn't believe her singing so well at her age...many people came to our table and were asking alot of questions and this one man came and he remembered when she had sang in our home town at a Billy Gilman concert and he told me that he is a song writer and has alot of contacts in Nashville. He told me that he can get her in a "showcase" in Nashville, that she is that good. He gave me his card and asked me to give him a call on Monday. He did look like a trustworthy type person...he was very nice and well dressed, about 45 to 50 years old. Can someone please tell me what is a showcase? Is it some sort of a contest? And do you think this is something a child so young should do?? Please give me your advice and opinions if you have time. Thanks EDA's. Sheila. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Oct 2001 10:19:44 -0500 From: "Pablo" Subject: RE: [EDA] National Anthem I was amazed just like you all guys... I saw it through ESPN here in Ecuador.. I just taped the whole thing.. well almost the whole thing (there was recorded the Larry King stuff) but Jewel performance (it was not lip-synced... my ears can't fool me) is enough for me and all those firemen, jets, pirotecnics.. Yankees bite the dust right now.. that's a pity.. sorry New Yorkers... it's 9:00 here... 6th inning now... the game is not over yet... I think it's over for The Yankees... Let's hope they could win next game... Hey Sheila!!!...nice to read from you... he he... at last... let Ciara write a little bit... let her brought smiles through our faces!!!!... :)))) Jewel looked great... and sang the anthem as great as she is used to!!! Don't forget to request her single guys!!!... Her singing is just awesome!! and i love ya Jewel!! > Love Ciara age 7!!! YOU ARE THE VERY VERY BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IN THE > WORLD. > Hey! >>>>I just have to say that that must have been the greatest honor for Jewel. What an awesome experience. For them to recreate those famous pictures for Iwo Jima and Ground Zero, plus the fighter jets and the flag in the outfield. Who cares that they barely showed Jewel, and who gives a crap if she was lip syncing? None of that matters-- I just think that it was an awesome experience and it gave me chills. Take care, ~Rachel~<<<< >>>>Well! That most definitely was not lip-synced... it's a pity they barely showed her singing, except right at the beginning..... i have to say it was beautiful.. it's not easy live in a stadium like that. steve<<<< ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Oct 2001 23:52:16 EDT From: Mystchif1@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Jewel review in new Entertainment Weekly Hey all, I got the new issue of Entertainment Weekly today (David Letterman on the cover) and there is a small write up on the new single, Standing Still. To her credit, the onetime van-dwelling Alaskan is clearly not a proponent of the play-hard-to-get philosophy. On her new single, baby-voiced but bold Jewel dares to ask a lover, "Do you need me like I need you?...Or am I standing still?" Well, if you have to ask....But while her subject matter is thoroughly cliched, the song, with it's down-home lilt and open-hearted sentiment, certainly strikes a chord. "Standing Still" should please not only Jewel's gooey flower-girl contingent but anyone who has ever been stuck on the romantic stationary bike. Thanks Mike!...his card is a business where he works (a realty agent) and he did tell me that he also lives in Clio (my home town) and his name is Lonny Gregory. He said he has "contacts" in Nashville. I do not know what a "showcase" is??? To be completely honest i do not know much about the music business at all or the do's and don'ts. I just hope i never make a mistake that could affect her with her future. Thanks. Sheila. I couldn't tell, I'll be honest. They didn't show her much though so I'm assuming it was. But then again at the very beginning it looked real, but then again, maybe the camera was too busy filming all the other stuff going on, and then again, she could have just timed it better. Her flub at the Super Bowl was really obvious. Almost as obvious as the rather noticeable protuberance in the tummy area. I'm all about women of different body types and don't feel anyone should feel pressured to conform to whatever the current societal beauty myth trends are, I'm just saying her outfit wasn't particularly flattering for her current body type. But overall she sounded nice. And that's more important. It was a solid rendition of a song that is being heard a lot lately due to the current socio-political climate. I hope she wasn't faking it though.
