The only other OBVIOUS choice is This Way (the song), because it's a sugary pop ballad that would probably be a big hit on the radio... but other than that there isn't really much radio-ready stuff on there. Serve the Ego MIGHT work on Alternative Radio... but certainly not pop radio. Jesus Loves You.. the tune is catchy but for the most part it's too acoustic. Everybody Needs Someone Sometime would have worked but it's too country. Break Me is too mellow. Til We Run Out of Road is probably a bit too mellow too, although it's beautiful. Cleveland could have worked, but it has a slide guitar in it, which makes a little bit country, and therefore pretty much an impossibility for pop radio. Love Me Just Leave Me Alone has the slide guitar part in the beginning so that wouldn't work... plus it's too kind of "rock-n-roll". And New Wild West just isn't a radio song. The ONLY song I left out of that is Do You Want To Play.. becuase that's the only other song (aside from This Way and Standing Still) that would at all work on pop radio. It's upbeat, and it's catchy.. and it's short... but still it's kind of a stretch. We'll see. To me, that's not a bad thing, it's an f-ing great thing. You'll notice that each song I talked about COULD have worked on pop radio, had it been produced a certain way... but she's just produced it the way she wants to produce it.. and everything that makes the songs unsuitable for pop radio makes them inherently better songs (ie - the slide guitar in Cleveland). Besides, I HATE pop radio.. why would I want Jewel to sound just like it? That's the reason I don't really like Spirit. I think I missed the first 15 minutes or so. But I never saw Jewel either. You would have thought they would have showed her when Ty was getting ready or something. Unless she was on in the very beginning they didn't show her. I thought Ty did not do a good job with the bull he had. Oh well, it was interesting to see him doing what he does. If that makes any sense :) Happy Friday!!!! - -Mi Rinda - -----Original Message----- From: Karacostas, Derrick W. I watched it and never saw Jewel, but saw Ty get booted of his bull about 2 seconds into the ride. He didn't do very well. I don't think he's going to win the championship this year since he's in 2nd now and basically can't catch the first place guy now since he scored 0 points last night. The announcers said very little about him, probably gave him less hype than anyone else...surprised me a little. They really talked about Justin McBride alot (I think that's his name) Supposely he's going to be the next big thing in the PBR. He's in first right now after one round. Anyway just wondering if anyone else caught the show. I guess Jewel wasn't there...or they just didn't show her. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Oct 2001 13:26:59 -0400 From: "Bob Hedman" Subject: [EDA] NJC: SS video question Hi Angels, I have a question for you. But what I found amusing is that the magazine has to label everything, especially what the people on the cover are wearing. Everyone has all the famous expensive outfits.... and Jewel has a tank top by Jockey International and blue jeans by Levis.... HAHHAHAHAHAHA !!!!! you've got to love her :) what can I say-- that just makes me love her more. good for her ~Rachel~ Check out my LiveJournal at http://www.livejournal.com/~rachkat926/ "How true it is that words are but vague shadows of the volumes we mean." Then it had this women singing that sounded like Jewel, and she sang part of the national anthem, and then added in POY, then sang more of the anthem, and then added in foolish games. ~kris~ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Oct 2001 12:43:55 -0700 From: "Jewel Fan" Subject: [EDA] Next single I haven't heard the complete album yet... but i'm thinking her next single should be another rock one like standing still. I don't have to wait for her tour to see her..she will be on the American Airlines Arena , downtown Miami, which is like brand new and top of the art, along with Smash Mouth Shakira..and some others that I don't remember.. super exicted!! I'm getting front row tickets no matter what!! anyone down here that might think of going let me know... Also, I hope that Jewel sings her heart out on sat night singing the American Amthem..I was 17 when the Gulf war started , and I can't remember a more poignant moment that will always will stick in my memory than Whitney Houston's rendition of it (she used to be like J-lo for my generation, for you young ones :) But what made it memorable wasn't her amazing voice, it was the heart and soul she put into it..it made me cry then , it will make me cry now if I see it again... so , I hope that Jewel doesn't think about it much and get nervous...just sings her heart out! and that will do it. luv Uri ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Oct 2001 21:34:33 EDT From: Cember76@aol.com Subject: [EDA] japanese release?
