Subject: [EDA] Sean's right I have to admit...Sean made a good point. We all have choices in this world, Jewel included. She knew as well as anyone she didn't have to sing at the superbowl if she didn't *want* to. She CHOSE to do that, knowing all the terms beforehand. Maybe Atlantic had some pull in her decision, wouldn't surprise me, but ultimately no one forced her to do it, so yes, that WAS her choice. :-) Just like her singing this weekend I'm sure is her choice...lip syncing or not. I'm betting it will be though. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Oct 2001 01:29:13 EDT From: Reecord2@aol.com Subject: [EDA] All this babbling about the National Anthem...! Ok you know what guys, when *I* sung the National Anthem, I chose to do it lipsynched too, do you have any idea how hard it is?? It's like buying a GT Mustang for soooo much more money when you can get a V6 and just like tape a GT logo on the side of the car. Or paying for your parking at Disneyland or putting your car in the back of McDonalds and hiring some guy to move it around every hour. Sure it's an option. Does anyone do it? NO!!!! How much incredible songs does she have to write for you respect!?>!? How many hearts does she have to warm in order to warrant some mercy at her lip synching the National Anthem? I just assumed judging by the lady at the record store where I bought my tickets for last years concert in Visalia, when she tried to sell me backstage passes for like $150. I didn't have that kinda money at that moment, so I turned down the offer. Since "pit" seats, (or whatever they're called) are the best seats available... It's so annoying how Jewel is held up to some extreme amount of scrutiny that you would never give any other artist.. So the new songs have a little production.. I've heard the other THIS WAY stuff, and as much as I love Michelle Branch, Jewel's stuff is just as, if not more, off-center than anything Michelle has written.. Give it a wait.. And if Michelle had lip-synched the national anthem, you wouldn't go off on some long-winded rant about choices in life.. Life isn't that major, folks.. Everyone has at one point done something that would set off all of your jaded people's "street cred" alarm.. But you only point it out (and at a much higher level) when Jewel does it.. You're like the pathetic people who are so against an artist and supposedly hate them, and go to fan sites and mailing lists and spend all your time saying how much they suck.. It just gets old and makes you look more and more desperate for attention.. I can't figure out which song will work... maybe Jesus Loves you, that's my favorite song by far on the album-- but would they play that song on the radio? Would people get it? I don't know. So my question to all of you is: What song should Jewel release as her next single from This Way??? - -- Chrissy PS-- I really like the new wild west-- but I don't like that buzzing sound effect that starts about half way into the song-- it's hard to hear Jewel over it... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Oct 2001 13:12:25 -0200 From: "FabioJJ" Subject: [EDA] CDNOW If you go to CDNOW, you'll be able to pre-order an import version of This Way, with the bonus Long Slow Slide. I don't think he's going to win the championship this year since he's in 2nd now and basically can't catch the first place guy now since he scored 0 points last night. The announcers said very little about him, probably gave him less hype than anyone else...surprised me a little. They really talked about Justin McBride alot (I think that's his name) Supposely he's going to be the next big thing in the PBR. He's in first right now after one round. Anyway just wondering if anyone else caught the show.
