I've been listening to it non-stop since yesterday and I have to say I can actually listen to it which makes me so happy...I'm a huge Jewel fan but I just can't listen to her cd's...or i just don't anymore. THIS WAY is close to the album I've been dying for her to make since I heard "love me just leave me alone" on STORYTELLERS. Okay here I go w/ the track by track thing: 1) Standing Still--I heard this on the radio today! 2) Jesus Loves You--I like, it's very "Pieces of You" lyric wise (compared to what's on SPIRIT I guess)... 3) Everybody Needs Somebody-- Now that all of you have ruined the song w/ your line-dancing image that goes through my head now lol...I like it, it's not overly country (it's barely country at all)... 4) Break Me--still a beautiful song but yeah, i prefer the acoustic verison and don't really like some of the choices they made for production on this song... 5) Do You Want to Play--probably my favorite song from the album right now even though something about it makes me think early 90s pop. This is probably single material. The "who gives a..." add is annoying ot me after the fifth time though 6) Til We Run Out of Road--I LOVE this song, never heard it before but I absoloutely love it! I was expecting a twangy rodeo song...nope it's great! :-) 7) Serve the Ego--when she premiered this song, wherever that was, I thought it was just awful but the THIS WAY version I actually like a lot. I don't know why, I just do haha. 8) This Way--I skip it everytime 9) Cleveland-- I don't know why this song seems very "Shawn Colvin-ish" to me...the chorous is great and I love the Rock edge it is given, I think it works well. 10) I Won't Walk Away-- someone said this was an atmospheric song, I definatly agree...Jewel's voice just sort of wraps around the room when I play this song and it relaxes me...not the classic Jewel sound but it works and it's good to see her trying new things and not having it mess up the cd. 11) Love Me Just Leave Me Alone--will always love this song, however I"m not a big fan of the acoustic opening as opposed to the electric guitar verison. Yes the scream at the end is exactly what i was hoping for...I was scared it wouldn't translate well from the studio and be a disappointment...woo hoo! 12) New Wild West--basically along the lines of "Jesus Loves You", another standard Jewel song which thankfully is a good thing to say. The bonus songs...Grey Matter is beautiful and Sometimes is great to finally have on cd! I hope this album does well...it deserves to, the lowpoints of this cd aren't enough to take away from the entire feel and brilliance of the album.
