I'm thinking of transfering there next Fall, and I was just curious at to what it was like. I've been to their website, so I know their tuition and admission and stats, but I was kinda looking for a more human perspective. :) Thanks~Sarah - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Sep 2001 18:44:34 EDT From: Getmamayo@aol.com Subject: [EDA] standing still in Canada Any eda's in canada hear standing still on radio yet? just wondering Big Z. Let me know! ~Katie ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Sep 2001 21:09:44 -0400 From: "cymbaline" Subject: [EDA] 'Til We Run Out of Road / new album I heard TWROOR... I kind of like it... Its a good song, just very produced... for some reason, I think I'd like it much better if it was acoustic. Especially the chorus, when she goes, "we're leavin', leavin' again" so anyway, about the new album. I don't think its going to be any particular genre... I don't really think anyone has anything to worry about. I think they'll be something on it for everyone. So, just to back my statement.... HYPOTETHICALLY speaking, say the track list posted the other day is the official tracklist: Break Me (love ballad) Cleveland (if this is what i think it is, folky rock) Do You Want To Play? (rock) Everybody Needs Someone Sometime (rock... but the new live version sorta reminds me of countryish rock at the beginning, and for some reason i can imagine a country line dance going with it... I think its the beat) 5 Grey Matter (acoustic, folky, old school jewel) 6 I Wont Walk Away (a pretty song, can't describe it, but the music and melody makes me wannt curl up in my room and cry, lol. i love songs like that) 7 Jesus Loves You (old school jewel) 8 Love Me Just Leave Me Alone (rock) 9 New Wild West (hmm..... sort of folky, countryish) 10 Serve The Ego (i don't know what to classify this... but it does have an arabic or egyption feel to it) 11 Sometimes It Be That Way (old school jewel, acoustic) 12 Standing Still (pop rock) 13 This Way (???) 14 Till We Run Out Of Road (countryish) so the album will not really be entirely rock. So all you who like who acoustic/old stuff should be happy. There's only a few songs that IMO are country.... so all y'all who hate country will not be too disapointed. For all you who wanted a live album, there's 2 tracks that I believe are guarenteed to be on it (GM, SIBTW). In a way it will be a good thing... almost everyone will be satisfied, even if its with select songs... but I don't know how a mix of types of songs really blends together. We'll see when it comes out. Usually, the songs should all share a similiar theme, musically and lyrically.... I can't remember the last time I bought an album where the songs don't mesh together... I don't think I ever bought one where on one album the artist jumped from rock to folk to country to arabic sounding.... anyways.... goodnight cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Sep 2001 20:15:37 -0500 From: "Eric Levenchuck" Subject: Re: [EDA] Standing Still is pop I have to agree with this. I was certainly not expecting to hear those electronic miami-bass beats in a Jewel song. It's definitely overproduced and contrary to Jewel's raw live sound. I like its sound very much and those electronic things are great. As Jewel said, she likes to experiment new things, and she is doing just that. I like this song very much and it's what pop should be like.
