(sept.8). NOTE: we have different time zone, so here in philippines our time and date are quite advance from the rest of u.s. states especially that of new york. as the show nearly reach its end , the anchorman ( i guess) made an anoouncement that JEWEL and BON JOVI would be up next. this was after the performances of missy elliot and nelly purtado (together) when the announcement was made. but then what happend next was Carson Daly appeared on the stage after the commercial break and he made a long statement about U2. afterwhich, U2 performed some of their hits and the rest of the show was very frustrating because neither jewel and bon jovi appeared as earlier announce (they even made video clips upont the arrival of jewel and bon jovi) and as Jamie Foxx wave goodbye and say goodnight, i felt mad about the whole evening for i've waited long enough and stayed up late ( which was i hated so much) . i was able to go sleep around 3:00 in the morning and kept on wondering why the people behind the mtv video music awards made a huge mistake. imagine, the following the show was replayed twice, but the same thing had happend, no jewel and bon jovi at all. Hey GUYS out there... since some of you are from the U.S.A. would you care enough to expalin to me if you have any updates about the show or this whole thing i had seen or experienced also happend there? THANKS to everyone but this year's mtv video music awards really displeased me. The show went a lot longer than expected. I'm sure they did editing before airing it in other markets. You didn't miss much anyway. Jewel only appeared for about a minute. You could not even see her when the artists came up on stage to collect their award. U2 stole the spotlight toward the end. I wondered if MTV knew they were going to transition from Elevation to Stuck in the Moment. Hi all, So, I've just been reading the posts lately, mostly because I was too lazy to write something and because I don't really want to talk about Britney Spears or Madonna, but not I have some stuff built up that I am going to share in 3...2...1... Okay, I've been reading mixed reviews of the new songs, so I went and downloaded them, and I absolutely love them. I was a little unsure how I felt the first time I listened to them, but after a few times, I was hooked. I think "Standing Still" is going to be a really good single - it's really catchy and kinda poppy, but still very Jewel-esque. I especially love "Everybody Needs Someone Sometime" and "New Wild West." She's just so amazing. It's interesting to me how her music is different now but still somehow the same. Does anybody understand what I mean? It's more mature, or something, but still Jewel. I love them I love them I love them. And how cute was she at the MTV VMAs? I nearly had a heart attack when she came on, because I hadn't really been paying attention, but then I heart something about a van, and I nearly fell off the couch. She was just so great, all relaxed and smiley and looking "tousled-chic" fabulous. I liked the red boots. Did anybody else notice how Christina Aguilera just passed Jewel and went straight to Jon to get the award? That bugged me. It was so cute to see her high-fiving everybody on the way up to the podium, very rock starish - something that I wouldn't expect Jewel to do. Why is it that everybody always has to mention Jewel living in her van? Anyways... I work at a bookstore, and besides my other department, I have to take care of the music and poetry sections. So, one day at work, I had a particularly Jewel-y day. First, the store was playing "Spirit" because they are promoting "This Way"'s release in November. Then, a customer came in looking for "Chasing Down the Dawn." This is how the conversation went: me: Hi, can I help you with anything? customer: yeah, um, I'm looking for this book by this musician named Jewel - me: (cutting her off) Oh my God, Chasing Down the Dawn? A Night Without Armor? Do you like Jewel? Oh my God, I love her. I am possibly the biggest Jewel fan on the planet...sorry, what were you looking for? customer: (looking frightened) Chasing Down the Dawn me: Follow me (of course I knew exactly where it was because I always make sure that her two books are facing forward - someone keeps switching them back, and I just keep facing them again ) We then proceeded to have a conversation about how wonderful Jewel is. I guess you guys didn't really need to know that story, but I just thought that I would share. Another useless story: In my art class, we have to pick a theme and do six pieces based on that theme. When my teacher was through explaining the assignment, she looked in my direction and said, "No, Emily, you may not do Jewel." That was a little embarrassing. But I think I am going to. I think what I will do is pick a song, mostly likely "Foolish Games", and do six paintings based on the imagery I get from that song. She said I could do that. I really like the new songs. I have been playing it a whole day now, and i really think her new songs have a terrific sound. It gives you the energy to dance in the room. The reason i got a little bit silent was because i have been moving to a new appartment and i got a new emailadres because i left my parents house. The song Standing still should really get a nice videoclip directed by matthew rollston in a great atmosphere, with a great lively surrounding. Our bi-annual beach cleanup will be held on Saturday, September 15 at our adopted beach - the South Amboy Waterfront in NJ. This time we have been asked to also look for little plastic pellets as part of a study for the Center for Marine Conservation. From what I understand, the plastics industry wants to get some general information about how well their pellet recovery procedures are working and if there is evidence of pellets getting into the environment. They are a problem for birds because the pellets look like food and the birds eat them. I'll have samples at the cleanup so we know what we're looking for! After the cleanup, we'll go for lunch at Big Ed's BBQ and then figure out what everyone would like to do (movie? Funmania? Laser tag?). It will be a fun and relaxing day, so come on out if you're in the area! Attendees thus far include: Tammy, Rob, Ahmetia, & Katerina Campbell, Eric Montas, Dan Stark, Leif Yu, Abel Rosario, Moi, Kelly Gallagher, Melanie Cobb (maybe), and Dhyana Jalande.
