I just wish I could find that article again. I think MTV is doing much of the same and I doubt they even fall under the regulations that keep that sort of thing away since they are sort of a one-of-a-kind thing. It would be excellent if Standing Still was released as a single in the UK - but a lot of little known American bands in the UK aren't doing that recently, it seems to me. Staind released their album weeks before It's Been A While was released, and all the Dave Matthews Band albums have been released here, with no single releases so far, as far as I know. Even Dido released her album before she became well known and released any singles.... But then again, Eastwest released singles from both Pieces of You and Spirit, neither of which did too well. The album is the Alaskan singer-songwriter/poet's first album of new material since 1998's Spirit, not counting last year's spoken-word effort, Chasing Down the Dream. The first single from the new album, "Standing Still," will hit radio next month. Jewel will be plenty busy in advance of This Way's release. On September 19th, she will take part in the Def Poetry Jam in New York City, which will be filmed by HBO for release later this year. Three days later she will play Mixfest 2001 in Foxboro, Massachusetts, with Nelly Furtado, Alanis Morissette, the Barenaked Ladies and Everclear. On the day after the album's release, Jewel will take the stage at New York City's Irving Plaza at a function hosted by the New York Civil Liberties Union to honor filmmaker Ang Lee and film/television executive Alby Hecht. I haven't posted in a few weeks but I wanted to tell you that I was at the VMA's this evening. Im in a taxi on my cell phone doing this right now stuck in traffic going back to the New Yorker hotel. It's across from madison square garden. If you're wondering, i have connects with an MTV staff member and I got a call last week that he had 4 tickets, he had claimed two but had two for me and a friend if we wanted. We booked a flight immediatly, which is very very very expensive at thee last minute!!! And the hotel!!!! Expensive. Dipped into 2 credit cards to do this now let me tell you about my night. We arrived at the met, which is so beautiful outside!!! We went in long before the celebs started arriving, so we only got to see a few up close when we got there. Nelly furtado was lingering around and we met her and she is soo sweet!! So we went to our seats in the 3 row, a little off center, in the first balconly thing. Decent view of the stage but there was a monitor that you all saw im sure. The celebs finished pouring in a few minutes before in started, and sheryl crow was staight down in fron tof us so that was cool.. It was kinda weird being there cause no one on the floor seamed to be into it except the kids in the pit. The funny stuff went on during the commercial breaks. jaimie fox entertained during the breaks and they would sometimes test the music and stuff. Some of the performances were good, like Missy Elliot, Nsync, alicia keys, and j lo. It was so weird seeing micheal jackson!!!! He didn't say anything much but it was still so cool and we were all schocked. The sad part though was during aaliyah's tribute. You could so tell that everyone on stage was on the verge of tears. Especially janet, missy and aaliyahs brother. It was very nice and i was holding back tears too. And then after missys performance thgey had something on the screen and that was even sadder but "we didn't loose someone, we gained an angel". I swear all the girls from lady marmalde were on something except mya. they were all roudy and just acting a fool! Especially pink. We andy dick was dressed in drag and went up to christina, it was funny though cause pink and christina got up like they were gonna box!! And the highlight, of course, Jewel with john!!! that was so cool and jewel was so relaxed and it was groovy!!!!!!!! Did you hear a bunch of people screaming when they were halfway through their thinging for the award?? That was about 50 of us! It was a lot of staff around us and he know most of then so he got them to do it!!! Did ya hear us jewel? Anyways, ill go and hope this works right with the email.
