Of course this weeks is Jewels profile/thinking poses. Well, for the person who posts the pictures every week I have a selfish request. Because I am a man who is a sucker for a gorgeous woman in a cowboy hat, I would LOVE to see a series of pictures of my favorite and most gorgeous singer; Jewel; wearing her white cowboy hat that I love so much. I melt every time see her wearing it. Thanks, Bob The Angel who still hasn't met Jewel "No longer lend your strength to that which you wish to be free from." ~Jewel (Life Uncommon) Angel Needs A Ride - Jewel Page: http://www.fortunecity.com/tinpan/kurtwood/152/ rvh102@optonline.net __________________________________________________ ______ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Aug 2001 20:54:23 EDT From: Cember76@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Rosy and Mick In a message dated 8/29/2001 4:43:48 PM Pacific Daylight Time, Fredsteve@aol.com writes: > Does anybody have a high quality MP3 of this song? > > thanks > > Steve > Yes I would like to know if anyone has an MP3 of that song, also if anyone can send an MP3 of Grey Matter. thanks December ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Aug 2001 21:02:43 EDT From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Sean's comments about Spirit I think Sean made a very insightful comment about Spirit in his last post. He said that Jewel made a record that was neither true to herself or true to the fans. I think this is a very good point. Jewel has even recently alluded to her distaste for Spirit and it's pop-production. In the recent interview with George Varga she mentioned not wanting a producer to come in and take over (which is what I think she thinks Patrick Leonard did)... and there's also this quote from a recent article in the LA Times: "On the first record it was easy to keep it raw and undone," she says. "Then suddenly people are thinking they have to make hits for radio. I was really protective of the songs this time." Well... that quote also bodes well for the next album. Let's hope it delivers! From the songs I've heard, I think it will. Main reason is, it catches people's attention and makes them want to go buy the album. The "established" fans who love the more "serious" stuff are gonna buy the album anyway. Basically, once the first few "new" fans are gotten, then they tend to release more serious stuff for those who aren't as easily sucked in....YWMFM really made POY famous, but it's not nearly as deep and melodic as Angel Standing By or Amen, but that would tend to scare some people off if they heard it on the radio. Hands was definitely not the strongest song on the Spirit, but Barcelona, wouldn't have done too well either (although Spirit in general is much more "radio ready" than POY). Any good artist/songwriter will usually write a couple of poppy tunes in order to round out their sound and grab as many fans as possible. It's the artists that do ALL poppy stuff (i.e. Britney Spears) that tend to annoy people after awhile. I don't think poppy is bad...sometimes I prefer something with a good "hook" in it and sometimes it bugs the crap out of me....but it's good that I can get either from any Jewel album. Hey Angels, A while back I heard that Britney Spears made fun of Jewel. Is this true? If so, what did Britney say about Jewel? (new version) Hey, I heard the live 'Serve The Ego' from San Diego.. It sounds SO much better than it did on Letterman.. I was still kind of sketchy on the song until I heard this new live one.. The song is AWESOME, folks.. It's just incredible.. She sings the "Serve the ego.." part in an octave lower, more drums and electric guitar now, courtesy of the band.. (which is sounding awesome, I must say.. It's more sonically interesting already than most of the stuff I heard from the Spirit tour...and they just started playing together!) ..Okay, well all of this stuff is going to be on Planet Jewel soon, so keep checking.. From San Diego: Serve The Ego, Everybody Needs Someone Sometime (the new version is much better once again...I just like it better for some reason), The New Wild West, Jesus Loves You, Standing Still, A Long Slow Slide, and I Won't Walk Away.. Don't email me asking for the songs, PLEASE! They will be on Planet Jewel some time this week.. Keep checking back! =) scott.evans [[mind is DISCONNECTED. but my heart is WIRED.]] AOL IM: sevans112 . Nashville was great because she could actually interact with the audience more instead of trying to hear comments over the noise of thousands of people....
