Okay, all the recent wailing and teeth gnashing on this list has convinced me -- JEWEL MUST BE PERMITTED TO GROW! I, for one, AM willing to let Jewel grow. But be forewarned, there are a few stipulations on my decision: 1) I will NOT water her daily, no matter how dry Jewel looks. 2) I will NOT sprinkle Jewel with artificial plant food (or growth hormones) on any part of her body. 3) I will NOT remove weeds from around Jewel's feet, not will I flick bugs off her. 4) On a more positive note, I WILL avoid parking on Jewel in my front yard, and spilling automotive fluids on her! For this monumental commitment I have made, I request two things in return: 1) First, that I should be shown the same consideration by Jewel and others on this list. (Especially the part about not parking your vehicles on me anymore) 2) Last (but not least), I ask that we drop this inane thread YESTERDAY. (How deluded do you have to be to actually believe Jewel owes you anything but the product you pay for?) That settled, I'm sure that Derrick will find us something else equally stupid to piss and moan about... :-) Hey, it was GREAT seeing all the EDAs down in Nashville. While the event certainly was no Jewelstock, the friendships and closeness between the visiting EDAs was just as strong. You guys were as good an audience as I've ever seen (and that includes JS, the EDAF launch show, VH1 Storytellers, MTV TRL and the Sessions Xmas Show)... hats off to all of you! You could not have been better. I passed out a lot of EDAF guitar picks and tees, as well as some angelfood tapes, but I wish I had been able to bring more. After a long haitus, Woody had a good time being roped (he also landed a paying gig on the nearby riverfront Tennessee Fox Trot Carousel, right beside the Chet Atkins character ride -- I'll post the picture one day...) Clubbing downtown Nashville Saturday night was fun, where Amy, Tammy and I proved that only EDAs 30 years and older can stay on the dance floor all night! ;-) Not to miss anyone's name, but it was very cool meeting the Texas' Nomadic Wandering Angels (Lewis, Grace and friend), who made the Nashville trip TWICE, and seeing Mark and Wendy for the first time since the Gathering of Angels in SoCal two years ago. My, how time flies... Once Jewel starts touring, I'm sure I'll meet more of y'all. I figure the "EDAs I've met" headcount is well over 1500 at this point. I'll have to make a big deal out of EDA number 2000, of course. I'll announce those rules as soon as I make them up. *ahem* Oh well, as Jamie Spirit-Bucket-Hat-Head said, "You're Mean, Get Out of My Room". Dennis Harris ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Aug 2001 09:01:45 -0400 From: "Dan Perugini" Subject: [EDA] Everyday Angels.... Hmm.... Something that I just thought of, as well as remember reading a few digests back. It seems that we have forgotten one of the big things that has come about from this list. I think this was said way back in the day, but is still valid today. "We started out as fans of Jewel, but we have become fans of each other." NashBash for me was a joy, and was really nice. But the one thing that really made it a special experience was meeting everyone here, people I had received emails from, and discoursed with on several occasions. That made the experience of seeing Jewel in such an environment, that much better. I had become fans of such personages as Dennis, Mr BB, Andrea, Jerry, Tammy, Erica the great Puddini, and others... Meeting all of these people, persons who I had become a fan of over time, was an experience that was out of this world. a bonus was actually seeing Jewel live, but that became a sidelite to the entire experience. If I could have, I would have stayed longer and gone out with the crew. Probably trying to skip out on talking to Jewel in person, she wasn't important anymore.... P-) But the moral of this story is this. Jewel is what brought us together, but we move on, and extend our friendships to everyone around us. Laugh about it, she will do what she has to do. I am more interested in meeting more of ya'll now... Hey all, I think John's post is a really beautiful way to express how the EDA's feel, or at least how I feel. I joined this list because I saw a girl named Jewel @ HAmpton Beach in New HAmpshire and I fell in love with the music she was playing, I went on the internet to search for info about her and found the official EDA site which told me how to join. Through the years I've gone from the loose mail, to the news, to the digest, and back, but my reason has always been the same. The list was such a wonderful place back then and STILL is today. Look at all we have done as a combined force, from providing Jewel with a HUGE fan base that she feels safe enough with to invite to private shows and to be the audience for everything she does that is not a tour related concert, to helping a little corner of the earth have safer drinking water, not many artists can say they have fans that really care, and not many fans can say they have a huge group of friends that they can turn to about anything in their lives. So, although opinions are great and no one is saying that we shouldn't share every opinion we want to, presentation is where it's at. The singer/songwriter has "completed the recording process" and has entered "final mixing stages," according to an e-mail newsletter sent to fans by her management company, which also listed the possible title. The album, due November 13, is also listed as This Way on Atlantic Records' release schedule, according to the label. A single from the album is due in October. Dann Huff (Faith Hill, Megadeth) produced most of the album, an Atlantic spokesperson said. Producers and songwriters involved with Jewel's disc said last month that she had written "dangerous-sounding" tracks that range from blues-rock and bossa nova to loop-driven hard pop (see "Jewel Cutting 'Dangerous' Tracks For Next Record"). Possible tracks include "Love Me Just Leave Me Alone," "Serve the Ego," "Shadows Play" and "Jesus Loves You," although no track listing has been confirmed yet. - -- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Aug 2001 15:15:11 EDT From: CleaningDuster@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] NJC : Aaliyah Uri where do you live??? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Aug 2001 15:34:04 EDT From: CleaningDuster@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] My Personal Commitment to Let Jewel Grow...
