Hey all, I'm in the process of sending Steve MP3's of the new tunes from Humpreys. As soon as I get the address I'll post it to the list so you can all check em' out!! :) One problem though.....I was in the process of changing mini-discs when she started "Everybody Needs Someone Somtimes" and I missed the beginning. This was the first time I've heard it with complete lyrics and was wondering if anyone else has either. If you have, I won't bother posting. But if no one else has either I was hoping that the others who taped the show at Humpreys on the first night would mind sending that one song as an MP3 to Steve so that we could share with the list??? Take Care, Jen :) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Aug 2001 18:57:53 EDT From: Mystchif1@aol.com Subject: [EDA] A Long Slow Slide Here are the lyrics......I'm still working on the others, this was the easiest to decipher. A Long Slow Slide Lights are bright in the circus The geeks and the freaks all light cigarettes and laugh at your misery While the white of the curtain closing crushes your heart The inertia of loneliness tears your flesh apart It's a long slow slide It's a long slow slide It's a long slow slide Down Once the neon is gone There's still that golden splinter at your side His manners are charming But who are you fooling You're still nobody's bride And Bukowski's widow Haunts each empty seat on the ferris wheel As ghoulish lovers collide in a collage of kisses that they steal It's a long slow slide It's a long slow slide It's a long slow slide Down And outside your window you can see the circus it's lurching with rings of smoke You laugh halfheartedly at the punchline Not realizing they've made you the joke And inside you're heart a war is raging A region still untamed The worst fear I can imagine is for the mystery to be named Is for the mystery to be named It's a long slow slide It's a long slow slide It's a long slow slide Down ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Aug 2001 19:31:40 -0400 From: casper31@juno.com Subject: [EDA] Michelle Branch has Jewel's bracelet Hey everyone I don't know if this was mentioned before or not, and I am sorry if it was. I just ordered Michelle Branch's first cd, not the one out now with "everywhere", her first real non-label cd, anyway its called "Broken Bracelet" and on the cover is a broken bracelet. Anyway inside the cd sleeve it has this story, regarding Jewel and Steve Poltz. "The Story of Broken Bracelet In July of 1998 I went to Phoenix, Arizona to see Lisa Loeb in concert. I got to talking with one of her opening acts, Steve Poltz. He was the guy who co-wrote "you were meant for me" with singer/songwriter/guitarist Jewel. After talking for a while, he said, "hold on, let me go get something." he came back with a really beautiful bracelet and he insisted on giving it to me. He said that Jewel had made it. I felt awkward and didn't really feel like taking it, but he insisted and told me "don't take this bracelet off: when it breaks off, you're going to be famous!" I kind of laughed at the thought, and started to watch the concert. Six months later, I ran into a man named Jeff Raban. I gave him a demo tape and talked with him for awhile. When I got home after meeting Jeff, the bracelet broke off, I didn't know what to think, but it is peculiar that Jeff is now my manager, and if your reading this, i must be kind of famous" I wonder if I can get Jewel to make me a bracelet! A lot of you might not know who she was, or liked her music (I didn't ) but she touched a lot of lives in her short years here, and I believe that when someone who's famous, someone who has everything going for them beauty, money , talent etc dies it touches a lot of people , including those who have no idea who they were...it reminds us that life it's a gift that we take for granted everyday when we worry about so many stupid things... you could be gone whenever you least expect it... you don't know when it;s going to happen, I could go and ride my bike as I usually do and a car could hit me...but that thought can't stop me from riding my bike everyday.. I just try to live my life to the fullest and appreciate it a lot, specially when something like this happens... we have no control over it..we will die whenever and noone can;t change that. so I suggest if anyone of you who migth be down about something, count your blessings and thank God, you are lucky to be alive and well today. As for the comments from Joe about segregation, I'm sorry, but there 's still a lot of it going around.. I live in a melting pot of cultures, but we are not together... the white americans live to the north, the latins to the south and the african americans to the east...and within each race there are sub divisions, the Cubans don't hang with the dominicans, the dominicans don't hang with the colombians....the Italians don't hang with the Irish, etc... I live this every day...there is segregation still and I think there will always be, beacuse there are not enough of us right now to make a change. So I suggest that before you speak Joe, you know what you are talking about. Hi everyone, I just wanted to say that I agree with Matrix, Alisa, Tom and everyone else who has stated that we are not here on this list to take pot shots at Jewels decisions about her career. It is her career! Jewel really does care about us, and I think she deserves our compassion and friendship. Anyone who was in Nashville knows this, you could see it in her eyes as she looked into the audience: Jewel cares! Nashville was the first time for me to experience it. I've been to hundreds of concerts, in many venues, and nothing touched my like that. When Jewel sees a need, she fills it. When we were thirsty, they passed out water! I have NEVER had that happen anywhere before! And as far as I know, it has never been done anywhere else either. Give her time, she doesn't let the world down, and she certainly won't let us down. When the time is right, Jewel's instincts are right on. Trust Jewel, Support her. Also, I assume we are on this list because we are 'friends' of Jewel and each other, or at least would love nothing better than to just sit around together and hang out with her, I know that it would be the highlight of my life to be able to talk with Jewel about 'EveryDay' stuff. So if we are friends I would suggest that we allow our friends to make their own decisions about their life and support those decisions. Making decisions in life is hard isn't it? And don't we look to our friends to give us strength through our decisions? Friends don't talk down about their friends, ever! So to the antagonists on the list I want to say "Whose side are you on?" We are friends, remember? Also, and then I'm done: EDA stands for 'EveryDay Angels', it does NOT stand for 'EveryDay Antagonist'. So to the few antagonists, loosen up the Ego, it doesn't make you 'better' to complain about how someone else is 'lessor', we're all equal here on this list, and it is an unwritten rule that we ARE friends, especially FOR Jewel. She needs our support, because there is more stress upon her than most of us can imagine. Thanks again to the true EDA's here on the list, which I still want to believe is all of us. Keep the faith my friends, I love you guys! - -John ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Aug 2001 23:21:17 -0300 From: "FabioJJ" Subject: [EDA] Standing Still Now it's serious! >> from jeweljk.com October TBA Jewel's next single"Standing Still" will be released to radio.
