Kay a somewhat random question but does anyone magically happen to know what strings Jewel uses to get the rich sound she does?? Granted Im sure it's a combo of guitar+strings+amp pertaining to the resulting texture of the sound but I just love how it sounds so string type will do, if anyone knows? - -J "We are everyday angels, be careful with me cuz I'd like to stay that way" ~"Sensitive" Jewel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Aug 2001 03:19:35 EDT From: CleaningDuster@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] A Jewel of a summer evening at Humphrey's Did a fan really alter her teeth to look like jewel's? It would be a good idea, I think. Stories about wild trips to see her in concert, meeting her in person, stories about concerts, etc... (some people had after show passes, but i don't know how they got them!!!) but i did get one of her new band member's autograph. stewart the one with the red hair! =) and i saw her mom on the way out and got her autograph and hugged her! :) so i had a great night! i also had a nice time talking to another eda. HI BETH!!! ;) i didn't really meet too many other eda's. but that's ok. maybe some other time. oh and hi to vince too! me and him both watched the show on the 19th from the pool area. so thanks for keeping me company that night vince! =) hope everyone had as much fun as i did! ~laura~ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Aug 2001 14:12:31 -0400 From: "Kerri" Subject: [EDA] pieces of jewel I've been trying to get to pieces of jewel, but i['m getting an error message. The day of the first show was fun, we met a few EDA's--Victoria, Emily, Elisa, Riz, and others. :) We sat in the lounge and listened to Tiamo and Honkey and others and hung out a bit, playing guitar out front in between. :) As we walked back to our room around five or so, Jewel began soundchecking and it could be heard all throughout the hotel. This was too cool. :) The show was great. She was very playful and chatty the first night, and mentioned that she was feeling disconcerted because of all the video cameras. She started to play "Kiss the Flame" and couldn't remember the words so she had a girl from the audience come help her remember. This actually turned out to be quite funny because the girl was standing behind her with her arms outstretched, lip-synching along. Then at one point she just hugged Jewel while she was still singing, and Jewel was wearing an expression that said...."oooooookay". She played good mix of old and new tunes and sounded excellent. She also told a story before Race Car Driver that I had never heard before. The new songs were good, Standing Still was the song that she said was going to be the first single. My only complaint was that the band kind of drowned out the vocals a bit but I suppose they're still getting used to each other. The second day we were out by the pool when she was soundchecking. I really can't explain how cool this is, but it just was. :) We met a couple of the people from the opening act (Jillian Speer and band) and they were very friendly and cool and said that Jewel was "amazingly nice". The second show she was definately less chatty and more down to business. She varied the setlist, which was cool, and sounded just as good. I taped both shows and would be willing to put up the new tunes as MP3's if I'm allowed (Mike?) and if someone will put them up on their site for me. Take Care, Jen :) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Aug 2001 18:51:46 -0400 From: "Amanda" Subject: [EDA] Angelfood and Me! Hello everyone I was going through some old boxes of mine, and found 2 padded envelopes. If anyone is interested in trading some angelfood, email me. i do not have a lot, but I am more than happy to make copies of the two things i do have :) Storytellers and woodstock. And, i wanted to tell those who were reading my emails this weekend, I contacted everyone, and came into a small amt of money to make my car payment, and my bills. Plus a lil extra for the grocery :) Heh So anyway, thanks for your help, your stories, and prayers. I love you guys!
