Oy, just got into Pittsburgh from Nashville. Had a wonderful time, such a great experience. It's too bad everyone couldn't be there because the new songs were AMAZING. A Long Hard Slide has this dark, evil carnival/circus thing going on in it that is really cool and The New Wild West song is awesome. Her lyrics still blow me away, especially these new ones. My friend Fred and I had a great time meeting some EDAs like Krissy, Gina and her friend, Dennis and Amy, the local gal with the Alaska shirt on and a few others. Sorry...I just can't remember all the names right now. I really hope this is released somehow...I'm thinking maybe an EDA or website DVD/VHS or something, PLEASE!! Well, time to sleep. Aaron And how great was Louisa and Her Blue Guitar?!?!?! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Aug 2001 17:35:56 -0400 From: "Scott" Subject: [EDA] Jesus Loves You So, can someone describe this song? I've been curious ever since I heard the title.. Is it a sarcastic song or what? I didn't take it seriously ever since I heard they used the drummer from A Perfect Circle.. But once my guest and myself realized that about all we could get there was guns, beanie babies, and confederate flags, we got out of there fast!! We got to Nashville around 2, and drove around a bit found the venue, and then the meeting place. It was now about 2:45 or so, and we combed the park for other EDAs, but apparently we just missed them. So we walked around, and hung out at the park some more, hoping to find EDAs, but alas no dice! So, then we drove back by the venue, saw people, so we went to park, we got a hotel room, about 5 blocks from the venue, so we parked there, and walked over. I saw Jamie and Darren, and handed out hugs and kisses, then we talked, and waited....... The venue was tiny, and it was a great place to see Jewel. Jewel was wonderful, and hilarious!! :) I was sitting near the door, and when Ty Murray walked in, he was right next to me, and I said to my friend Stefan, "I think that's Jewel's boyfriend" and sure enough, it was. Jewel was SO adorable when she realized he was there, and she was all blushing, and he asked her if she would play a song for him and she said something like, "anything you want!" She was so embarrassed, it was great! Then Ty ran up there and gave her a kiss, and she was able to calm down and play some more. :) HIGHLIGHTS- Jamie Mathews teaching Jewel the words to "Carnivore" Louisa and her Blue Guitar Grey Matter Jewel asking for requests then saying, "Now you are showing off! Marital Carnival? I only played that once once, in Anaheim, see I know" Angel Standing By, give me chills every time. And that is my little review, :) Namaste, Jon I used to be "the luchador angel" ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 06 Aug 2001 17:48:06 EDT From: JusAgapAd@aol.com Subject: [EDA] can i just say... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 06 Aug 2001 09:51:51 -0400 From: "Dan Perugini" Subject: [EDA] NashBash Part 1 Ok, I guess I should post how it went for me at least. First off, let me give you a rundown of what my weekend entailed first. Time frames. Drove from Augusta to Atlanta late Saturday, arriving at my sisters place around 10pm. Had to put together her computer and then went out to a BBQ until around 2 am. Went to sleep. Woke up at 7am to go to church, and started out the rest of the way to Nashville at around 10 am. Arrived in Nashville around 2 pm EST. Thinking I was right on time for the gathering, I waited around down at the riverfront looking for a girl with a yellow hat. No one around except for this other lost looking young girl, who was in the same situation I was. Hi Chrissy! P-) Well, needless to say, we both waited for 45 minutes, after which I drove her back to her hotel. Stopped by the venue on the way there, interesting place, and tehn dropped her off. We had a nice little chat, before I headed back down to the Riverfront. It is now about 3 pm EST. When I get back down the area, I see this yellow hat hanging in a tree over a rather extended group of people. Walk up and made a comment of "So this is what an EDA gathering looks like...." P-) I've been on this list here for about 5 years now, and haven't been to single one of the world famous gatherings that we have. I have been missing out. Well to continue with the story first people who introduce themselves, are Larry Greenfield, Jerry, Tammy "Mom", Erica, Amy Neufeld and a few others.(Names are very much a difficult thing for me to remember, so bear with me. P-)) I was shocked when Dennis "the Menace" Harris was pointed out to me. He was this scruffy looking curmudgeonly hipster that I had pictured from all those wonderful pictures taken at previous gatherings. He actually was a cleaned up leader of this so called pack. P-) Well to make a long story short, Woody made an appearance, I personally missed out on trying the roping thing, but we had a few try and make it. About an hour later this little soire we were having broke up into it's smaller groups to do various things. Eating being a prime mover on this one. P-) Woody just didn't cut it. Wood is chewable, but for some odd reason leaves a lot of splinters.... So we went and ate, toured a hotel, then showed up at the venue at about 5 pm CST.(Notice that now I have the correct time area) We show up, there is this long line of people waiting to get in. Dennis is already there, and running the show with a little help from Mr BB, aka Alan, and is signing everyone up for one of his hairbrained schemes. P-) Now we are expecting to get into the Venue at 6, but as Rob posted earlier, we didn't actually enter until around 7 - - 7:30 ish. Made for an interesting wait. Several conversations and a UNO game later, we get in. The list assisted in organizing everyone into a nice orderly group. P-) Kudos go to Dennis and Alan on this well thought out task. P-) More to come later. Dan Perugini dperugin@mail.mcg.edu Medical Library Specialist Greenblatt Library, Medical College of Georgia "All human wisdom is summed up in two words: wait and hope." It was my first time for both events and let me tell you that each is truly an 'event' I will cherish. The weather was evil, typical 90+ degrees, 90+ humidity. Even Erica's little yellow hat was wilting! But the ambiance of the EDA's made all that unimportant. It was fun fun watching Dennis teach cow ropin'. (Especially from the shade). And even more fun when Katie got hungry and we all headed for the best fun in Nashville: air conditioned eating. Kristie went on a quest for some jeans and we crowned her 'the jean angel' as she triumphantly returned wearing her catch just in time for the show. She knows how to shop! Erica was grand entertainment along with Katie, Dennis, Louis and everyone else. I met a lot of great people, sorry too many to remember or to write here. Oh yea, we're not sure but we think maybe Kristie might be in with the witness protection program because her room was not listed at the elevators in the hotel and you had to hike down a long hall around the corner into a cubby hole in the back... BUT, it did have a cotton ball dispenser in the bathroom, which I understand is a BIG hit with the ladies. I can't tell ya the name of the hotel of course, because of that witness protection stuff, you understand... AND, I have met THE MAN: Allan! Allan is indeed the grand poohbah of EDA events! Thanks again for the water Allan! And just as if that fun was not enough, we stepped into air conditioning and waited for Jewel. You had to be there to understand that AC IS EXTREME FUN in Nashville! I gotta tell everyone who has not seen Jewel in person, you are MISSING IT! I love Jewel's music but it can not compare to the full surround experience of Jewel! She is TOTALLY captivating and the warmth of her heart envelops you when she steps onto the stage! Ty pulled a great sneak in and surprised Jewel by asking for a song while she was changing guitars and she just sorta stopped in her tracks when she heard his voice, looked around with a 'oh my god' look on her face as well as a shakey little 'is that you?' or something like that. It was great! We all need a video of that! I saw him sorta sneak in while she was singing and he ducked into the end of the right front row. Real slick! Yep, He's a real cowboy! And they look great together. After the event, Jewel and Ty were gracious enough to stop for some pictures, and the EDAs were just as gracious by not getting pushy for autographs; Jewel's voice was getting tired at the end. It was great seeing everyone being so considerate of each other: EDA's for Jewel's fatigue and Jewel's obvious love for her EDA family. I had the feeling of being at a family reunion, ya know, the part where they always want you to pose for pictures. I am happy to be a part of this family. Larry and Jerry were right when they told me "...first time with Jewel? You'll be blown away!" Thanks again Jewel, Ty, Allan and everyone else for making my 'first time' so memorable. - -John The pooped publishing Angel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Aug 2001 17:56:37 EDT From: NikosSong@aol.com Subject: [EDA] songs NOT in tabs Does anyone know where I could possibly find Jewel's guitar songs that are NOT in tab or chord format? In other words, I am looking for basic staff layout, kind of like piano music. I know how to play the guitar, but I am awful at reading tabs...it really confuses me, and it doesn't give specifics. If anyone can help me out, I'd be very thankful! Jenni ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 06 Aug 2001 12:38:31 EDT From: ChrissyPf1@aol.com Subject: [EDA] nashville I just got back to NC from the show. It was definitely the best show that I have ever attended by far. I has so much fun-- Jewel sang some new songs-- Jesus loves you (really really good song- she compared it to pieces of you because of the touchy subject matter the chorus is "Jesus loves you, what about me?" or something to that effect and she says "what can you do for me?" a lot too-- I can't remember exactly-- She sang a song that I think is called the new wild west-- this song is definitely politically charged-- musically it's awesome-- and some may like the lyrics some may not. She also sang another song I don't remember the title-- slide slow ...something or other?? Does anyone think that she did any other new ones? She did some classics too like race car driver, grey matter, she attempted carnivore got some help but didn't finish it-- she did some of Unsung in your eyes, cold song, angel(cowboy waltz), sometimes it be that way, Louisa and her blue guitar (she played bi! g blue by the way!),everything b reaks, break me, stephenville, does anyone believe in love, Rosy & Mick, near you always, little sister, wwsys, angel standing by was the encore, there were a ton more too-- I was the one who asked Jewel if she was talking to Ty Murray when she realized he was there-- he requested Does Anyone Believe in love and that's when she realized he was there.. she already sang it but she did it again for him-- and she was definitely singing about falling in love with him-- she looked right at him during the part about his blue eyes being all she needs-- it was awesome they are so in love! I yelled for Ty to go on stage and give Jewel a kiss and jewel told me not to boss them around : ) but he went up anyway and kissed her-- she was so shocked that he came to see the show. It was cool. I met a lot of really really nice people-- I can't even name them, all-- but I'm so glad that I was able to meet everyone-- it was the best. Thanks to everyone who offered me rides and everything. What a blast! there is so much more to tell-- but I'll leave that for everyone else-- she played for almost 2.5 hours-- and she wasn't even 100% better from her cold-- she came out and said goodbye and let us take pictures of her and Ty, but there really wasn't a chance to get autographs or anything ( although I know that a few people did) Okay I'll stop talking about all this now. GREAT SHOW!! - -- Chrissy ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V6 #324 ***************************
