NashBash? hmm sounds like a carnival game where you take a big mallet and hit as hard as you can when Don Johnson puts his head through a hole in a plywood board. creative, but i don't think it fits. besides, carnies scare me. so what's your suggestion mr big smarty pants you ask? well i think i've come up with the perfect name.... [insert drum roll here] tada! it's.... The High-Falootin' Super-Jewellin' Grande-Ole Rootin' Fruity-Loopin' Hootin-Tootin' Nashville Hoe-down Tho-downb" as this name will now be officially sanctioned by the Dashing Harris Sidekick and Co. you will need to from now on address any posts concerning this show with the appropriate subject header of [THFSJGORFLHTNHT] to make sure it's clear what the post is about. this will make the reading of mail on this gi-normous list much much easier. thank you. next issue. i'm am looking forward to meeting as many of you as i can in a day and a half. here's some advice. introduce yourself to as many people as you can. no shyness allowed! everytime stuff like this goes down all we hear is "i wish i hadn't been so shy." if i've learned one valuable thing from mr. harris, it's that if you think you'll regret not doing something, even in the slightest, then DO IT. don't spend the rest of your days saying "i wish i had..." that's no fun. plus, pretty much we mostly don't bite. mostly. last issue. i need a favor from everyone. in every post relating to this show over the next few days, tell mr harris (i don't know why i keep calling him mr, he doesn't pay me to say that) that he MUST bring Woody to Nashville. if you have no clue what i'm talking about it doesn't matter. as a favor to lil old me, please do it :) then i'll owe you one. that damn cow is going to Nashville whether he likes it or not. besides, he's been on the wall long enough. he needs a vacation! well that's it from me for now. see you all in 4 days! always crazy, chris :) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Jul 2001 18:53:37 EDT From: VCavallo@aol.com Subject: [EDA] *IMPORTANT Nashville Gathering Information* Hey yall, I think we've finally come up with a definite plan for a gathering before the Jewel concert on Monday. The basics: DATE: 7/30 TIME: 3pm CDT (I'm thinking of pushing it to 2pm CDT, if we have to.) PLACE: Riverfront Park Directions: Riverfront Park is located DIRECTLY in the heart of downtown. If you drive to the end Broadway Blvd., you are there. There will be some rather large steps there, near the Riverfront Stage. We'll be hanging out there. I'll be in my BRIGHT YELLOW hat [as I'm taking it out of retirement for this special event]. We might even have the oh-so-traditional BLUE EDA balloons. I honestly don't think you'll miss us. From wherever you're staying, just head downtown. Parking: Unfortunately, parking in Nashville is very bad. There is a VERY small area for free parking, if you can find it. It's located on Gay St. It's a street located RIGHT along the river. Go to the end of Broadway and take a left, go past Fort Nashboro and hang right, that's Gay St. There are many paid parking lots around the area also, that range from $5-$10. (The parking garage by Kinko's is $5, I know that.) The Plan: As everyone arrives, we'll do the meet and greet. It's basic EDA protocol. We all sit/stand/dance around talking/hugging/(as of lately)fighting. Since we are downtown, there are 8 billion restaurants. (Eating is about the only thing to do in Nashville if you don't enjoy Country Music.) Those who would like to pick up a quick bite to eat, can go to these eateries which range from all price ranges. If you don't fell like eating feel free to go over to the Country Music Hall of Fame, if that's your bag. There are lots of little shops around this area, if you'd like to do that. We also have the Frist Museum of Fine Arts that just opened recently. I figure once everyone gets together, you'll know what yall will want to do. I'm just providing options. It's nothing big. We can only do so much with the time we were given, but I think it will be a great time had by all in all cases, no? I also realize a lot of you are getting here over the weekend. If anyone has any suggestions to do anything on those days... I'm open to it. Email me or post it to the list, don't be shy. However, I'm planning on the Riverfront Gathering being the main gathering of the event. I don't know if anyone will have the energy to do stuff after the show, but if you are over 21, the bar scene at Nashville, is very interesting, to say the least. You'll find live music at 9 out of 10 bars (There might even be some Reggae for you, Dennis. I promise I'll go with you this time.) I suppose will get to the bridge when we cross it. Please feel free to email me here at VCavallo@aol.com or Cara at EDAGatheringTN@aol.com for any additional information and/or questions. We all want to help you have the best time. I can't wait to see yall. Erica :) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Jul 2001 20:30:37 EDT From: EastAngelEDA@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] nashbash? or is it? Pay heed to her warm words of wisdom and let's all bask in the glory that is ERICA - the queen of ... well, everything! There are several positives to meeting in the park. First, it's called Riverfront ... meaning it's at the Riverfront - making it damn tough not to be able to find it. Where downtown ends and the river begins. If while descending the avenues and hit water you've gone too far -- just back up a bit and turn around. Second good thought is that it is a public area - meaning some angry shop keeper (and there are angry shop keepers when 100 EDAs get involved) can't throw the group out. Also, I am not sure if anyone wants to hike a bit, but over by the convention center at the hotel I stayed at last time I was in town was a huge parking garage. Erica can correct me but I think it was like five - six blocks and over one from the park. I have regulated to house chores and video games all weekends, but I appointed Tammy my duly sworn representative to be our family's delegation to the gala Cavallo Convention. We hereby nominate Chris to perform all future naming/acronym duties. I'm watching it for the first time and enjoying it.. It's very reminiscent of Tales From The Crypt, which was one of my favorites growing up (even though I had to cover my eyes in the beginning sequence when they got into the lair and the skeleton popped out of the casket.. Hey, I was 8! lol).. I was disappointed for a few minutes because it has slight humorous overtone, like Tales, but then it sunk it that it was supposed to not be THAT creepy.. Or maybe it is, but it's just me.. But I enjoy the show.. It makes up for Murder In Small Town X, which I was REALLY looking forward to, but is not scary at all.. Which won't stop me from watching it.. I'll always expect it to get better.. :-P I guess these shows and Big Brother will have to hold me over until the new season of The Mole ;-) scott.evans [[crazy is just YOU and ME.
