I love that stuff. Even though my versions are crappy...anyone have a good version of violet eyes and/or rosy and mick they wanna send me?? :-) Anyhoo, I like POY, but I think she's only gotten better since then, so much better with each passing album, I love to listen to them in sequence, along with the random singles that never made the radio to hear that evolution. Yeah, it's not >going to get airplay, even on most indy/college stations, but it's a pretty >cool song IMO. >Mike I agree with Mike here. Yeah, "Painters" has got to be one of the best songs Jewel has ever written. It's true poetry!! If you listen to that song and you can't picture what's she's saying in that story. If that doesn't put a tear in your eye. Then I'm sorry for you. If it wasn't for POY, I would have never considered listening to Jewel. What I'm basically saying is, that if "Spirit" was her 1st album. I would have ignored it and keep walking. Just thinking she was another Sarah M. You also have to understand that I've spent the majority of 96-00 collecting every damn live recording that exists. The only person that has more live Jewel then me, is Mr.BB himself. I do consider myself an expert on Jewel's live shows. I've studied the shows over the years and her modesty and attitude has changed considerably. From the shy, modest, naive, broke, struggling teenager. to the famous, rich, rock star attitude, pay attention to me, I'm Jewel.. I see right through that crap. and that doesn't fly with me. Sure Jewel's a great talent, and donates most of her money to charity and lives a clean life. I don't care about any of that. I guess I'm just sad that, what I used to love about Jewel is gone forever, because she changed and decided to write poppy -commercial songs and then do a christmas album. That's the kiss of death for me. There no turning back from that. I can only hope that her next album will be something i can relate to. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Jul 2001 17:07:34 -0400 From: "cymbaline" Subject: Re: [EDA] CORRECT Jewel DVDS > Are you sure you saw U2? Phish too..... can Jewel jump up and down on a trampoline, in sync with the music, and in sync with her bassist's jumping on his trampoline....both of whom are turning side to side, back and forth, while still playing her guitar perfectly? :) and about u2.... at an outdoor stadium concert, can Jewel make a huge clasp of thunder fill the air, EXACTLY when she begins the first note of her song, and have it pouring hard during the entire song, and have the rain completely stop at the end of the song? :) At a jewel concert, can you be standing in the front row, and have some drunk guy next to you is offering jewel a half eaten hot dog, while she's singing, until the security guard whisks him away.... forcing the drunk guy to bump into you, spilling his beer all over you? :) can you see little lights being passed around the audeince, and a big cloud of "sweet smelling" smoke rising to the ceiling, during "everybody must get stoned" :) okay I'm getting a little carried away.... :) cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Jul 2001 17:22:11 -0400 From: "cymbaline" Subject: Re: [EDA] CORRECT Jewel DVDS > Nobody's trying to rush Jewel, just wishing she'd > release something new between studio albums. how can you do that, if you're working on an album? expect her to drop everything and waste time putting together an ep or something to satisfy impatient fans? it would only push back the release date of her album. and god forbid she ever wants to take a break in between touring and recording, and have some time to herself without being in the spotlight. if you were fanous you'd want down time too. > It must be nearly six months since Jewel started > recording the latest cd. Wasn't Jewel supposed to > really hate recording studios and love live > performances? umm... if i'm not mistaken, she hasn't been recording for 6 months. the first few months were PLANNING stages, then she was recording DEMOS which aren't the same as actual tracks you would put on an album. Demos are usually of lesser quality. So, now she's recording a bunch of songs that will will be all spread out, and they'll pick and choose the 14 or so that will go on a CD. Oh and if you want something thats going to be recorded in like, one week or somrthing, then you're going to get a peice of crap. If she takes time to work on things, and doesn't rush herself, you'll get a better product that doesn't sound like it was just thrown together. cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Jul 2001 18:14:20 -0400 From: "S c o t t" Subject: Re: [EDA] F = Foolish Games?
