I'm sure a great deal of people who read this list have not seen Jewel live (or only a few times at most). In fact, I've had a Jewel site since 1997 and only seen Jewel in concert one time. It's an audio cassette tape, made out of white plastic (like the old old ones used to be) with all the normal writing and credits on it. Came with a plain white sleeve...but this IS an official tape from Atlantic. I think it's identical to the regular PoY tape, but was just used as part of an early press kit...at least this is what I had been told before. The soundtrack features songs from Jewel, Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits fame, and the Corrs, who have the first single "All The Love In The World." The Corrs' song also appears on the group's latest album, In Blue. It is one of three songs on the album produced and co-written by producer (and Shania Twain's husband) Mutt Lange. Andrea Corr tells LAUNCH that the tracks with Lange definitely have their own character. "I think the Mutt Lange tracks are very obvious. He's got a sound, it's instant. It's very hook-driven, you know; it doesn't let up and it's brilliant in that way. I think, you know, when two people write a song together, their influences come into it and our influences come into it. And so, I can hear Mutt, but I can hear us too. But, you can hear the difference in those tracks." Other confirmed artists on the soundtrack include Sixpence None The Richer, Seven, Anika Moa, Leslie Mills, Invertigo, and Kelly Levesque. Evan & Jaron and Vertical Horizon are also tentatively scheduled to contribute tracks. America's Sweethearts, which arrives in theaters July 20, centers around a Hollywood press junket where the media has a field day with the life and the not-so-perfect relationship of a starlet, portrayed by Catherine Zeta-Jones. The movie also stars Julia Roberts as the starlet's sister and personal assistant and John Cusack as Zeta-Jones's husband and fellow Hollywood star. Other notables in the movie, co-written by Billy Crystal, include Stanley Tucci, Hank Azaria, Christopher Walken, and Crystal. - -- Darren Davis, New York and Neal Weiss, Los Angeles ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Jun 2001 14:54:04 -0700 From: "Kevin Douglas" Subject: RE: [EDA] used tampon? (no offense) > Okay, before anyone starts getting grossed out, let's look back and who wrote this: Ronald I. Nam.... remember this is the "ah'm" guy who caused such a disturbance before and then told us he got his first period at a Jewel concert? I'm not one to doubt people, especially when it comes obsessions, because some people really are that infatuated with a person, but I sincerley doubt this person is telling the truth, they are just trying to get a rise out of people like before.... let's think logically as well (at least the girls).... where do you change your tampons? In a *bathroom* not just standing around somewhere...and then you flush it down the toilet, you just don't throw it in a garbage can for someone else to find (especially not if you are a celebrity and you know this could either come back to haunt you or fall into some sick individual's hands) and I'm sure she had full access to a bathroom where she could have changed it privately and flushed it away. ~ Sandy ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V6 #250 ***************************
