I called FYE @ 1290 Avenue of the Americas New York, NY 10104-0101 Phone: (212)581-1669 and spoke to a manager there. He told me FYE is not handing out any tickets for the concert. They are just involved in the promotion so that's why their name is being mentioned. He mentioned all you have to do is just walk into Central Park and you're there... again he stressed that tickets are not necessary. So this info contradicts what I've been hearing/reading from many of you who are expecting actual tickets for the show. Z100 is supposedly giving away these tickets. Currently some are available through contests. Any ideas? I really don't want to end up not being able to see the show just because a manager was misinformed. If anything I'll just have to sneak in or something. : / Jason "The Heavy Metal Angel" ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Jun 2001 13:40:51 -0400 From: MrBB Subject: [EDA] Re:Central Park Tickets and Movie Soundtrack Misinformation In a message cmgroves@easynet.co.uk writes: <> Hi again, I don't enjoy dashing peoples hopes, but once again, this source is mistaken. Jewel does not have a song in this movie and she will not have a song featured on the soundtrack, new or otherwise. There was discussion of including a new song in this film but that's as far as it went. You'll often find that many media web sites, such as the ones posted by Chris over the last few days, write up *news* as if it were fact, when in actuality, they've never bothered to check sources or confirm anything. They often base their news stories on outdated information, rumors and believe it or not, I've seen many Jewel news releases on web sites taken directly from EDA posts, my own included. You'd be surprised how many *reporters* monitor your list. Anyway, these examples of false reporting are bound to become more frequent over the next year as Jewel activity increases. My advice is, when reading press releases from non official sources, don't necessarily believe everything you read. Often there's a grain of truth that gets padded by a lot of false info and speculation to fill the amount of words the writer was assigned to write. Now, regarding tickets for the Central Park concert. From everything we've been told, you will need a ticket to enter the Rumsey Play Field area of Central Park, which is where the concert is being held. As some store manager told an EDA, sure, anyone can stroll around Central Park in general and likely listen to the concert, but to get in the stage area, I'd advise those wishing to attend to follow the www.pro-voice.com web site instructions and attain the FREE tickets. Also, although the manager may be correct that his store will not be handling tickets, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he is mistaken about that too. It's quite possible that he/she simply didn't know the plan for his store yet and he was afraid to say that. I'd suggest contacting the store again on Saturday (6/25) which is when the free tickets are to become available. I hope that helps, MrBB ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Jun 2001 11:08:20 -0700 From: "Mary Olmos" Subject: [EDA] Jewel on Soundtrack for "America's Sweethearts"? That would be this coming Monday, not Saturday as I previously posted. So check on more free Central Park tickets on MONDAY, June 25 at the various sources listed at www.pro-voice.com.
