I'm >really hoping to continue my attendance streak, but college starts the same >week... >I've made quite a few friends and I love most of 'em. My turn? I'm Harris. Or Dennis. Or the Harris Brothers. Or simply "that Harris guy." I've been on the list since January 1996. I too feel old, but for good reason. I am old. Older than dirt, but NOT older than Mike Connell ;-) I claim involvement with the first (successful) EDA Gathering at the Paradise Rock Club show, and I think I discovered some sort of new mold on old jello in my fridge (the jury is still out on that one). I deny being at Jewelstock and any involvement with the notorious AOL chatroom terrorism by some subversive group called "JewelStalk" several years back. (Mike Connell however, was definitely involved). I deny anything else ever said about me as well. Except those comments by Jewel, but I have long since forgiven her... I've met well over a thousand EDAs, and have "adopted" (ie, shanghaied) about two dozen as Harris family clan (Mike Connell again included). I have showered with a few EDAs, bought many a sandwich or two, and stuffed $20 bills in the underwear of one of them (yes, Mike Connell -- not once, but twice). I have no choice but to go to Bearsville for the sixth consecutive year (it's the law). Scientists have revealed that the very fabric of existence as we know it would immediately unravel if I were to not return to the Woodstock/Bearsville area on the third weekend in July. It's a pilgrimage sort of like the swallows returning to Capistrano, or salmon swimming upstream to spawn (without the sex, unfortunately). My shoe size is 9-1/2. I use Macs. I like cheese. I even like macaroni and cheese. My hobbies include chasing llamas, designing plywood lifeforms, organizing chaos and picking up crap off beaches because some people are born lazy and stupid. (BTW, if you're one of those people, pick up your own crap so I can spend more time organizing chaos, okay? Much appreciated.) I don't claim to be an EDA (although I do the "everyday" part pretty much on a daily basis), but I've made a few friends over the years (including Mike Connell, who adamently refuses to let me into his house). I expect lots of newbies to show up at Bearsville this year. If not, I will be compelled to seek them out myself. mmmm... newbies. I don't know what Tammy thinks we're doing this year, but the horseback riding, visit to the Tibetan monestary and resevoir sunset were enough fun last year to merit a repeat (hell, I'm going, come along if you want). River tubing is a given, and the two nights of campfire mayhem are unavoidable. The chaos will become apparent as it develops. One last thing about that Abel guy. At our last EDA/EDAF gathering, something happened to me that hasn't occured in many years... I had a creepy feeling that there was a hideous monster under my bed. The next morning, Abel admitted to sleeping beneath the fold-away bed. Truth is stranger than fiction, and Abel is stranger than most fictional characters I've personally known. That's all. I'm sure to see some of you at the NYC Central Park show on the 19th... I will most likely attend for the first time next summer, though. In July I am going on a church camp/retreat for middle school through college students. Its a large 5 day retreat at a hotel by the beach, and I'm leaving for it on the morning of the 22nd. Its going to cost be almost $200, but it will all be worth it. I'll get to spend time w/ friends and worship God with others my age. So yeah, it'll be worth it :) I hope I'm not offending others on here when I say that i love God. because I do. (I don;t want this to start any religious conflict on the list though, so please if it offends you take it with me personally, not to the list.) So anyway, I decided that this was most important to me at this point in my life. But don't worry guys. I still love you all :) Even though some of you probably want to bite my head off, lol. But don't fret, don't cry, though I may not be attending this year, you'll most likely see 'lil ol' me at Bearsville next year ready to stir up some chaos. (I still want to do the EDA/eoda wars, Connell.... that is if we get enough eoda's besides me!) :) cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus PS... Anyone live near Gatlinburg, TN? I'm going there in August, and I was wondering if there is any specific places where I can get some awesome nature photographs? I'm so sick of doing "florida nature" photography.... everything seems to repetitive in these fatlands.... I want some beautiful hills/mountains and streams in my photos... - -Kelly (aka "cymbie") the photographer angel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2001 10:37:50 -0700 From: Gerrit Subject: Re: [EDA] Bearsville intro Dennis Harris & Eliot wrote their intros... I'm not going to write one myself. I think. BUT.. I will say this: Dennis lives up to just about everything you've heard. ;) Mr. Harris is THE MAN. (or the boy? Hrmm..eheh) I am jealous of the four years in a row I've missed. But this year I'm going! Gerrit WILL BE THERE! Woo hoo! =) (Yes, California to Bearsville trek again.. this time by plane..) I'm also bringing along a few non-edas. They happen to be good friends of mine from college back east. They'll still help raise the fun level just like everyone else. ;) I look forward to seeing everyone who shows up. (even Dennis!) I'll only be there for two days (ick!). You can check out my Jewel site: http://endor.org/jewel You can check out my personal site: http://endor.org/amethyst Or you can even check out my super secret pic site: http://endor.org/amethyst/photos (okay, so this officially makes it not-so-secret) But you have to show up to meet me! =) Gerrit ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2001 14:02:34 EDT From: RunTontoRun@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Central Park Concert Has anyone gotten the ticktes in the mail yet? Thank you! Fabio - The Brazilian Angel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2001 22:07:18 EDT From: NikosSong@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Long time no post :) Hey everyone. The post about the tabs for "Rosy and Mick" has really shown me that I haven't been keeping up with new songs at all. Basically, if Jewel wrote a song after "Spirit," I most likely haven't heard it. I haven't even heard the song "Break Me" (which I've heard so much about :). Anyway, the point of my post is to ask if anyone has a website or such that has all of (or the majority of) these new songs? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks! I know that none of you are coming to the Kansas City concert-- (I'm sad.. would LOVE to meet some of you) but I for one am counting down.... IT'S ON SATURDAY!! Anyways.. Today I was telling these people that I work for that I am skipping out of the end of my softball tournament to come to the Jewel part of the concert. And I guess they are going also. It was really amusing because the husband is a big Jewel fan and plays "Joy" year-round. Since Ricky Martin is going to be at the concert as well, they made a deal that the wife could sleep with Ricky if the husband could sleep with Jewel. I just thought it was very amusing. ~Rachel~ the very-excited-for-Saturday, perfectionist angel ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V6 #238 ***************************
