(my words) No offence to all you people but why ruin such great music by remixing it? Jewel's music does not need a remix. Remix's were invented for artists who were one hit wonders, who only had one song in many incarnations jewel is the complete opposite. Also I hear people saying that she should do it because people don't know who she is! Well I'm a musician and I don't care if people don't know who I am. I would just rather keep playing the music I like rather than adapting to the charts. Jewel should keep her music in the direction that she feels it is taking. Remixes only show the talents of the production side, and as EVERYBODY knows Jewel is at her best when live. (my words) I was on a cruise once, and in one of the dance rooms they were playing club/techno music. And it was funny, because I could hardly hear the music it was so loud, but I swore it was Foolish Games. Needless to say it was Foolish Games, remixed techno style. So I think Jewel has been remixed, probably not through her though, some DJ did it. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Jun 2001 09:37:56 -0400 From: "Kerri" Subject: Re: [EDA] song poll It may be on one of the many bootlegs out there. There never was an official unplugged album. There are only Pieces of You, Spirit, Joy, and then Bits and Baubles and the singles. Although I'm not sure about any non-US releases of the albums. - -Kerri "But don't wander too far, my one constant star. Darkness exists, except where you are. Philippa said: <> I agree that people who weren't die hard fans have lost track of Jewel-- a lot of my friends have asked me where she has gone. But (this is just my humble opinion) I don't think Jewel needs to go global. I think she is fine at the status she is. She has a sizable loyal following of fans (i.e. US, the EDAs) plus a lot of people who are fans here and there, and will no doubt come back when she releases her new album. I don't think Jewel is the kind of artist that needs worldy acclaim and popularity. She's just fine the way she is. That's just my opinion :) ~Rachel~ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Jun 2001 12:42:52 -0700 (PDT) From: kevin maguire Subject: [EDA] NJC- Poltz in Palo Alto, CA on Wed, 6-13 Any one going to the Poltz concert wednesday in Palo Alto. Why would a remix ruin Jewel's music? It would still be Jewel. > Remix's were invented for artists who were one hit wonders, > who only had one song in many incarnations jewel is the > complete opposite. Surely remixes are meant to give music a far wider audience than it would get in its original form. They allow radio stations to play an artist's music without the risk of losing their audience. Remixes are being used more and more these days especially with US country artists, so that they can get recognition in Europe. Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Leann Rimes, Shania Twain and many others, who aren't 'one hit wonders', have all used the form successfully. > Also I hear people saying that she should do it > because people don't know who she is! Well I'm a musician and > I don't care if people don't know who I am. I would just rather > keep playing the music I like rather than adapting to the > charts. I'm a Jewel fan. FAN in my dictionary means that I want Jewel to be successful. I want Jewel to be the world's number one artist. I want Jewel to be bigger than Elvis! > Jewel should keep her music in the direction that she > feels it is taking. Remixes only show the talents of the > production side, and as EVERYBODY knows Jewel is at her best > when live. Only the people that have seen Jewel live know Jewel 'is at her best when live', and there can't be many of those outside the US. However I don't see why there can't come a time when Jewel becomes as good in the studio and as good at producing albums as she is at performing live. Anyway I'm looking forward to the day when Jewel does become popular in the UK so that we finally get to see the many Jewel specials that were broadcast in US eg Storytellers, Hard Rock Live, Jewel Rocks The Rocks etc. Chris. http://www.jewelfan.co.uk : Jewel - Pieces Of UK ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Jun 2001 21:59:21 +0200 From: "michiel" Subject: [EDA] Jewel more succesful than Elvis -) hello Jewelfans, The statement of Mr UK Jewelfan Chris Groves was really a good one ! He told that fan in his dictionary meant Jewel to be succesful, even more succesful than Elvis!! I am lying if i tell that i am not fully behind Chris opinion: Jewel should deserve the respect in the mediaworld because of her great lyrics and songs. I agree that Jewel is one of the best really truly best performing live artists. Anybody watching Jewel soon in June, July and August in locations in the USA are going to agree this matter completely! When i look back to the liveconcerts i have seen, Jewel always seemed to enjoy her selves and the crowds to the fullest. There are no shows where you feel not well in the end after beautiful songs ending up in your mind!!!!!!!!! i wish the day jewel is succesful in europe and that she has to do a lot of promotional activitities on this side of the atlantic! i also hope that the new record will be great and more important that the RECORD will be released this year and not postponed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love ot hear new lyrics and tunes of Jewel, she has such a great archive and always write beautiful new songs. We have to wait and see what the new record and tour will bring to us fans. I expect a lof of great music!!!!!!!!! bye michiel a dutch jewelfan http://www.jewelkilcher.myweb.nl Jewel impala /a dutch tribute site for jewel ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Jun 2001 16:12:01 EDT From: JewelEDA21@aol.com Subject: [EDA] EDA(Sebastien) of a loooong time is leaving..
