Ah, I also like Matchbox 20, Verve, Enya (why not?), Mariah Carey (why not either?), Beatles (classic!!), Eminem (well, he's kinda rough, but I like the sound), Mary J. Blige, Madonna, some Brazilian Bossa Nova and other Brazilian bands. But, above all this, there is Jewel, unique!! They are from my hometown and I kinda know the guys in it, but they truly are amazing. They have become one of the most up and coming unsigned bands on the east coast. They've been a big success in NYC, and Dawson's Creek lisenced one of their songs. You should all check them out at www.theargument.net 2. Nelly Furtado- I just got her CD a few weeks ago and it's awesome!!! She has the voice and insight of Fiona Apple with a Latin twist. Amazing! 3. Dave Matthews Band- Their music can fit any mood. Plus so many of their songs are just so SEXY!!! 4. Incubus- I just got into them recently, but they have an awesome sound to them. 5. Alanis Morissette and Ani Difranco. (i know most of you would be like, what? alanis? i know you all probably think she was just a one cd girl, cuz she was angry and people are angry, so they liked it and then her second cd sucked so she went to the river of oblivion. BUT, her second cd DID NOT SUCK and it was even (in my humble opinion) BETTER than the first one in the sense that it was A LOT more mature and thoughtful than the first one, it makes me think: god i wish I could think the way she does and write it down the way she does it. ..whatever it's hard to explain what I feel about alanis, i really admire her and the way she is. and ANI i'd have to agree with Scott Evans....in everything everything and everything he said. She is absolutely AMAZING. not words left. so I admire both of them a lot, and wish I could express myself the way they do and help people through their songs the way they do.) UPPS, sorry about my long explanation about my first choice(s!!!). 2. Jewel 3. DAVE MATTHEWS BAND (all of their music, but the last cd, which i admit IS GOOD but they pretty much went with the flow and became just like any other band, instead of keeping their unique solos..sniff..still they are awesome). 4.Tori Amos (i wanna play piano like she does!!!!) 5. Fiona Apple (yes, she's angry, very much, really sad. but her voice is pretty interesting) 6. Sarah Harmer (she's not well known, but has a very nice voice and cool lyrics, not to mention her cd was like 7 dollars at tower records, so that was nice). 7. MARISA MONTE (this brazilian girl, who has one of the best voices i've ever heard, she sings in portuguese, but she does it so well that i learned portuguese mainly because i wanted to sing and play her songs!!!!) well i'm too tired to think much more, i do have tons of other fav. artists, in the beginning i even thought i would have to debate TOO much over the first 10 ones, but i guess that the fact that i can only remember these ones, supports the fact that they are the most important ones NOW.
