I've got two questions. First, does anyone know a REALLY easy song to play on the guitar? Something that is mostly chords and that the finger positions don't change much. My b/f friend's B-day is Sunday and I'd really like to play him a Jewel song. It doesn't have to be a love song, any song will do. I've been trying to play YWMFM, but my arthritis is really acting up and I can't seem to change positions quickly enough. Also, are there any EDA's out there that know a good recipe for some kind of traditional Greek cake (any dessert would do, but preferably a cake) He is Greek and is terribly homesick. I thought something like that might cheer him up. =) Thanks Kristie The Free Angel ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 May 2001 10:57:04 -0400 From: "Kelli Coppens" Subject: [EDA] Acknowlege Clearwater! After reading the update from Shane on the project in Mexico installing the water pipes, I was interested to learn more about what they are doing. I checked out the website www.clearwaterproject.org and was deeply moved. Please check it out. It has lots of pictures from the different countries they are working in. Its too easy to forget what is going on in other parts of the world. Its unbelievable how spoiled we are but yet many of us complain how little we have. Sometimes i act like i am "soo poor" just because i feel money is a bit tight. But in reality i know i can easily pay my bills and still go to movies and eat well. Going to a Broadway show would be pretty tough right now though! lol But that is NOT the definition of "soo poor"!! Lets think about all that we have- and try to think about that everyday!! With twelve days left prior to Jewel's birthday, a total of eight EDAs contributed to Clearwater since the project began a month or so ago. Collectively, they raised $312, which is much appreciated. If any of you are still wanting to donate, it's not too late to help, be it now or in the future. The Gualsea water site has the necessary funding, thanks in big part to EDAs, and future money raised will be going to other communities in Honduras that Clearwater is raising funds for in conjunction with Netaid. If you'd like to contribute to the EDA project of donating to Clearwater in Jacque's memory and/or for Jewel's birthday (or if you have no idea what I'm talking about), read on for last month's message from Shane Kilcher that will bring you up to date and includes the EDA instructions. Enjoy the weekend, MrBB Subject: Message From Shane Kilcher to The EDAs Date: Sat, 14 Apr 2001 Greetings EDAs, I know Jewel will be touched to receive a birthday gift dedicated to Jacque's memory. And I think a gift of clean water would really be a gift to both of them. In some of our brochures and in the Clearwater video message from Jewel and Lenedra, they tell a story of being in the jungle with a friend, drinking from water bottles, when the native elder they had been meeting with asked them to please stop. He said most of the world really can't afford to buy bottled water, and that whenever we buy our water from a factory, all purified and bottled up, then it only makes it less likely that the real problem will be addressed. What many of you may not know is that the friend they were traveling with WAS Jacque, and the goals and visions for Clearwater are as much hers as Lenedra's and Jewel's. In fact, Jacque's eldest son, Sean, is Clearwater's Executive Director and has really been instrumental in making this project what it is. Her other son, Brandon, occasionally travels with Clearwater as a videographer; they are both very passionate about the project. So the EDA idea of donating to Clearwater in Jacque's honor would be a perfect gift. Well once again you guys have really impressed me with your thoughtfulness. I think this really is the perfect gift idea. I have no idea what I'm going to get her. The other day I was commenting to Jewel that her B-day was getting near, asking her what she wanted, and mentioned that I was reminded of it by the EDAs. She said "Yeah, aren't they great? I'm really lucky to have them. As far as what I want for my birthday, well I have no idea; I'm kind of hard to shop for, aren't I? I wouldn't even know what to buy for myself." I think you all have found the perfect gift. I, on the other hand, still have no idea what to get her.
