For the purposes of this list, why, yes, we would be "normal". Sorta like being an average lunatic in an asylum. Consider these facts: 1) We routinely think about and discuss Jewel, a woman most of us have never even met. 2) We routinely talk (or chat) with strangers over great distances about this womnan we have never met. 3) We routinely share our opinions, likes and dislikes with the same strangers, often about this woman we have never met. 4) We actually sometimes take the time to read posts like this one whether or not they have anything to do with this woman we have never met. 5) We actually count on Mike Connell to keep the whole mess rolling along. For the most part, only a few of us have a lot in the way of actual equipment and have no problem community use of things like propane burners, grills, and so on, and so on. You can usually find ppl willing to share tent space and such - a sleeping bag is nice, but blankets work too. I personally find that an air mattress is a worthwhile investment, but then I'm a big baby when it comes to the hard, cold ground :-) If you're not comfortable with sleeping in a tent with strangers, you can usually pick up a small tent for pretty cheap :-) There are picnic tables, but many of us have invested in the much more comfy chairs (We love the ones with the pop-up foot rests :-)) Anyway, the point is, you really don't need to bring a whole lot to enjoy the weekend :-) Tammy :-) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2001 18:40:39 EDT From: BuilderwalksUSA@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Well, it made an impression on me! I'm fairly new here considering I only just recently acquired a computer a month ago. Any ways when I found this site I was just delighted. I have been a Jewel listener for about seven years now. Learned about her through my older brother who was stationed down in San Diego(navy). And I have fallen in love with her lyrics, poems, movies, books and so on. Any ways just wanted to comment on a few things. As for the whole "normal" thing. I believe that I am here to hear from people that have a common interest with myself. And if that common interest is Jewel than why not discuss someone so talented. Second, are there any EDA's in the Whittier, ca area? Do we ever have any get togethers(gatherings) around here? Thank you all for having this here joey's lil' sis' ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2001 20:57:57 EDT From: BuilderwalksUSA@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Jewel has lost weight???? I think you may have missed the point with this last post, Scott. It was obviously an exercise in stupidity, by which the poster likely enjoys bashing Jewel after his daily "Kick the puppy at 6" and "Look slack jawed at flies beating against the window at 6:15" Actually, its not too surprising she loses weight on time "off," (I think she really never has it, since she's being artistic in some method or another at all times.) Since she does eat a lot healthier when she's not touring. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2001 21:34:05 EDT From: BuilderwalksUSA@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Jewel has lost weight???? Of course, then you would lose corporate sponsorships up the wazoo, lose some fans, therefore the money for the charity, and so be unable to help as many as before. One must conform to some standard in order to be successful. As she has said, she's got a belly, and she likes it! I love her tummy, as does almost everyone here who didn't come specifically to bash Jewel. Kind of funny, though, you just gave my weight and height. Not being on tour gives her the time and opportunity to eat correctly. Who says she's had time off? I'd bet her schedule is still very busy. I say its none of our business whether she's lost weight or not. Maybe its not our place to have to figure everything out about her. Maybe it is what it is and we should just enjoy it. Let Jewel worry about her own weight. Also, I think Jewel knew how to handle a rope long before she met Ty.
