For the purposes of this list, why, yes, we would be "normal". Sorta like being an average lunatic in an asylum. Consider these facts: 1) We routinely think about and discuss Jewel, a woman most of us have never even met. 2) We routinely talk (or chat) with strangers over great distances about this womnan we have never met. 3) We routinely share our opinions, likes and dislikes with the same strangers, often about this woman we have never met. 4) We actually sometimes take the time to read posts like this one whether or not they have anything to do with this woman we have never met. 5) We actually count on Mike Connell to keep the whole mess rolling along. I haven't met >anyone on this list, and I'd really like that... so where are you guys??? or >arent' there any? First, someone has to be willing to host a gathering. You can say "let's meet at MacDonald's or an amusement park", but it just doesn't work as well. You really need a point person. Gatherings before or after a Jewel show are the easiest to put together, but quite frankly, they are the least enjoyable (for me, anyway -- everyone is distracted and you have to make time for Jewel to sing and such). Most gatherings happen around NY/NJ because the Campbells and Amy "the Llama Lady" make them happen. They are willing to have dozens of EDAs descend upon their homes -- and many of these guests are total STRANGERS! Out in California, the Moraleses and the Vierlings have generously opened their homes to EDAs. I've had people sleeping on my floor a few times, too. Living Room Concerts and Tours are a good draw, but it has been two years since our last "official" tour with Lisa Sanders and Joy Eden Harrison. Maybe Alan will get the itch again and arrange one for this summer... (the MrBB Backwoods Booking Agency?) The EveryDay Angels Foundation holds events from time to time, but they still happen in the Boston, New York and Southern California areas because that's where the organizers are. Right now there's a big gathering planned for the NJ beach cleanup weekend of May 5th, and there's plans for an EDAF-sponsored list-wide project for October's "Make a Difference Day". (More details on that will be posted soon.) When the EDAF suggests other food/clothing drives, step up and volunteer. Make a day of it with other area EDAs. Trust me, they are out there. My last survey two years ago showed the heaviest concentration of known EDAs to be in PENNSYLVANIA! It sounds like you are within a day's drive of Bearsville, NY. On July 20-22, we'll hold our fifth annual JewelStock reunion where we'll camp, act foolish and likely go horseback riding and tubing down the river again. That's a great way to meet lots of EDAs and start some friendships. Overall, getting a gathering off the ground takes lots of work and effort the first time, then it gets easier on subsequent gatherings. I'll be interning in Myrtle Beach, SC this summer for 3 mths. I was wondering if anyone lived in that area or has been there. What are some good places to visit or things to do? What's the music scene down there? I haven't a clue.. Things that don't cost much :) Thanks! I moved a picnic table so it was under the clothes line. Then I pitched a tent over it with one of my blankets. =) Then I put my other blankets on the table and slept between them. hehe.. I have been on this list for about 4 years now, and I have become a "watcher" like many other Eda's that have dwelt in the shadows after being here so long. Anyway, I live in Nashville, TN. Not really Eda country. I think their are maybe two other Eda's who live here in TN, but I have never met them. I will be moving to Florida towards the end of the summer. I will be living in Orlando, and going to school probably at the University of Central Florida. Are there any Eda's that attend that college, live in Orlando, etc. Love to the Everyday Angels ~Kris~ The ~Pshyco Angel~ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Apr 2001 15:18:45 EDT From: NikosSong@aol.com Subject: [EDA] NPC/NJC: guitar presentation ideas Hey everyone, sorry to bother you with all of this "no content" stuff, but I need a little help. For my guitar class, I am supposed to give a 10 min. presentation on any aspect of the instrument. I want my project to be very original and creative, but I can't think of a topic. Can anyone think of any ideas? Keep in mind, I am a beginner, so I can't really demonstrate anything :( I would LOVE any ideas!
