Please read! READ THIS PRESS THING THEN GO DOWN THE PAGE. *****MILWAUKEE, WIbApril 18, 2001bFor anyone on a quest to find the ultimate live music experience, the search should end in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the worldbs largest music festival, Summerfest. Dubbed bthe biggest music festivalb by the Guiness Book of World Records in 1999, the festival that began as a community event in the summer of 1968 has grown to welcome nearly one million visitors from around the world during its 11-day run each summer. Those who enjoy a diverse range of music and entertainment, cool lake breezes, and fabulous cuisine from over 45 food vendors, know Summerfest in Milwaukee is the place to be from late June through early July each year. ***** ***Jewel performed in 1999, but not during summerfest and brought 10,000 people to the amphitheatre on the grounds. They haven't released most of the line-up for this year, so let's keep e-mailing them so Jewel can return to the midwest. It would be cool if she performed on a ground stage instead of the amphitheatre cause the can accommodate like 7,000, but it's really intimate, especially when the breeze from lake michigan blows through. E-mail them at media@summerfest.com and tell them you want to see Jewel at one of the 11 days of summerfest! There's already been some acts announced for this year, including Destiny's Child, BoDeans, Bon Jovi, Tim McGraw, Blink 182, and Ben Harper. Lasat year there were acts like Christina Aguilera, Britney, No Doubt, Blink 182, BoDeans, Paula Cole, third eye blind, and so much more. LETS GET JEWEL BACK TO MILWAUKEE! I just wanted to inform you (if you haven't seen yet), that I've had a video of a PSA Jewel did for National Poetry Month on my site, Planet Jewel, all month.. April is National Poetry month, and I think it was in either 1998 or 1999 that Jewel taped this.. Make sure you visit at http://jewel.tanweb.com by the end of this week.. The video is linked off of the intro image, but it will be changed back from the special poetry image to the normal image for May.. Enjoy! =) scott.evans [[crazy is just YOU and ME. If 51% of a group do something, it's considered "normal" -- or, in the case of behavior, "acceptable". I wouldn't buy her albums or listen to her music. Normality and mediocrity and usual-ness and everyday-ness are the antithesis of what I look for in art, music, literature, etc. I think Jewel's weakest moments are when she falls prey to the mediocre individuals who surround her and try to exploit her superior talent and abilities. Her strongest, most transcendent moments are when she asserts herself and shows us why she is NOT normal, why is special and exceptional. It's that simple. Everyone in this world is equal and everyone deserves the same respect as someone else! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Apr 2001 19:54:29 EDT From: BuilderwalksUSA@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] If Jewel were normal... It is that simple, as it is so simple that she is normal. She was born from an egg, that is normal. She yodeled at six, that is abnormal. She helps millions every day, abnormal, she feels pain for the tragic, normal. Anyone who declares her absolute in one fashion or another do so because they have personal issues they need to address, on one hand, to say she is equal to all others is as deluded as the forefathers saying all men are created equal, while owning slaves, suppressing women and butchering heathens. It is a compensation for their guilt, they want their heroes to be as fallible as they. On the other side of the spectrum, to declare absolute positive abnormality is to be blinded by idealism. Obviously she comes from an excellent breed, for her foremother/father survived where most could not with less than most could with more. The artistic spirit has dwelled in the family for generations, permeates every member of the bloodline to some extent. I wonder who would call her insane because she hears God. I imagine likely a majority of those who declare that it is impossible to exist as a living god/dess. Obviously those who have no tolerance for the beliefs of many others are destined to bigotry. They fear others being in some way superior, so with every iota they fight the idea, because as far as they are concerned it puts them lower on the food chain. Those who are willing to sacrifice their very lives for beliefs are those who become of all, and that which is of all is the divine personality. Jewel does this, sacrificing health for a world, and so she is immortal in her convictions. The question is not of her normality, but her lasting influence upon existence. Fitting in today is nothing in perspective of living in the hearts of generations. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Apr 2001 20:37:41 EDT From: RachKat926@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Jewel influencing our yearbook Hi all! As a member of the official Jessica Andrews fan club (www.jessicaandrews.com.....her current single you've probably heard, "Who I Am") I am organizing a street team to promote her performance at Summerfest on Saturday, June 30 in Milwaukee. (You wisconsinites know what summerfest is!) She takes the headling spot at the Harley-Davidson Roadhouse stage, with Billy Gillman as her opening act. Billy opens at 7:30, she starts her set at 9. We all plan on arriving at summerfest around 4 and doing promotions until Billy's performance. (Ill be cutting out a little early to see Joan Osborne open for the boDeans in the amp at 7, but will be back in plenty of time to see Jessica). We'll be handing out flyers, letting people hear her music, doing contest, giving away CD's and pics and keychains to promote her performance. The area around the stage she is performing on can accomodate about 3,000 and we hope to fill it all so we need your help! Email asap if you want to help or have questions!
