Coldplay are fantastic and their album Parachutes is so so so good! I would say they sound more like a more acoustic version of radiohead (who jewel did say were one of her fave bands!)...like they sounded on The Bends. Anyway, well worth checking out! angela ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Apr 2001 10:35:44 EDT From: Puzzled36@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Re: *NJC-Coldplay I completely agree with Katie! Don't we have anything better to do? > Dee How can he wrote that 2 years ago, before the book came out? it seems like the article was writen After the book came out. Anyways now for my 2 cents! I say we look at ALL the issues, if a friend of yours or a Family member, wronged you, and was telling people stuff about you OR a SICK family member. And you asked for that not to be writen, to protect the innocent, and also to not injure the person any more there should be some respecet to that. It seems that Jewel changed the name to not directly point at the people, but still every one around knows who she is talking about. And whats more important? Jewel selling some books? or her family? their feelings and wellbeing? I havent read the book, but i agree with the Mossy's Ex, where jewel could have balanced out or pointed out some positive stuff. But as i started off as saying if your friend or family member was just bashing you, then we need to keep them in CHECK, and down to earth. SO i dont fell we have to TURN on Jewel and Hate her, but we dont always have to Hold her up too high. My mother is schizophrenic, so i can fell this guys pain, and it should be expolited. To me thats what i get out of this article is that he cares about his son, and Only Kindness matters and all that. Now what i am going to do, and those of you that are with me, we should Donate in Honor of Mossy and Arlyn for Jewels birthday, to Clear water, or HGH. That will send a message, (and lets Burn CDTD!....j/k but if we really hated that book because of it expoliting people and jewel USING her family as a stepping stone the we should boycott it like that, Not saying I hate you Jewel, but just protesting that part of her, and the cruel treatment of people) Thank you! Also can some one please tell me >more info about it. Like will Jewel play or what about Steve (i'm sure he >would be up for it! Steve rocks!) Bearsville (about 15 miles from where we actually campout) is a very small town in upstate New York, and about one mile from THE Woodstock (also small actually), and about 90 miles or so northwest from New York City (not so small). Jewel nor Steve nor (quite likely) anyone will be playing (other than the usual EDAs with guitars)....it's just one of the EDA events that has managed to remain an annual event/gathering. This year it WILL be the weekend of July 20-22, and more info will be available soon, I hope. (Tammy Campbell is the usual person who does the official announcement). The reason we do this is because it's fun :-) The more underlying reason is because a somewhat large number of EDAs bonded at JewelStock (180+ EDAs attended the private EDA-only1996 event, starring Jewel), became offline friends as well as online friends, and we just like to meet up with each other throughout the year AND meet up with new folk who always show up at Bearsville. A core group of 20 to 25 EDAs show up each year at Bearsville, and we always get a half dozen or more new folks, which is ALWAYS nice. (it's always nice to put a face with someone you've read emails/posts from). The more the merrier :-) The area of Phoenicia (smack dab in the mddle of the Catskill Mountains) and neighboring environs is kind of touristy, so there's always fun stuff to do and explore. (not to mention Woodstock being quite nearby). A LOT of info will be posted soon enough, and links to my usual Bearsville webpage which has all the info also, and a whole lot more. Stay tuned :-) Mike * If you are new to the Jewel list and need a helping hand, * or have a burning question about Jewel and/or the list, * The Jewel/EveryDay Angels List Homepage & Guide is at: * http://www.quackquack.net/jewel * Many basic/common Jewel and list questions can be answered there :-) * * If you can't find the answer on the page have any list related * questions, please feel free to email me at ducksoup@quackquack.net * or you can IM me on either of the AOL names below: * DuckOfPrey or WhyADuck55 and/on AOL or AOL Instant Messenger ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Apr 2001 15:14:26 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: Re: [EDA] gatherings? It was mid-August 1996 actually, and at the time it became the second largest EDA gathering ever. Just one month before the Hampton Beach show was JewelStock (attended by 180+ EDAs), and while the list was still on a high because of that, and the impending Jewelstock tapes tree, many EDAs decided to "let's do it again" and about 40 of us made reservations at various oceanside motels and took in the sun and sand and Jewel's concert at the Casino Club Showroom. (another 20 or so from the New England area didn't stay over, but came to the show and met up with us) You can see some EDA group pictures of the event at: http://www.quackquack.net/jewel/nhbeach.htm http://www.quackquack.net/jewel/nhcasino.htm (both pictures include last evening's EDA groom, Tom O'Brien....maybe it's where he and Rachel met? She was there too) There used to be an official web page for the gathering (with many more pictures), but Dennis' Harris took it down a year or so ago when he had to change providers and hasn't put it back up yet. To me, while the concert itself was good, the noisy crowd was quite overbearing and really did spoil it for me, but then again I was spoiled by the "you can hear a pin drop" quietness of JewelStock just 4 weeks earlier. (although tapes I've heard of the show were much easier to listen to and understand than actually having been there) It's too bad you didn't know about the show then....it was a gorgeous oceanside evening. To this day I check the Casino Club web page to see what shows they have there...I would not mind going there some weekend again and hanging out and seeing a show. Mike :-) P.S. So I wondered if any of you know how long she was here, and wheather or not she performed here (and if so, where)? Well, according to the Jewel Appearance Chronology at http://piecesofjewel.com/jchrono.htm she was nowhere near Norway in May 1995. However, check 1997 and you get a hit :-) She was scheduled in Oslo on the 22nd of May that year (it does not show a venue) and Cologne Germany the night of her birthday. For anyone interested, that Jewel Chronology is a pretty good informational database of her appearances through the end of 1997.
