Subject: [EDA] Video for "Joy"? Did Jewel ever make video for some song called "Joy"? I know her Christmas CD was called this, but I didn't know she actually had a song called this, and really didn't know she had a video for this...if this is the case. Hadn't seen any mention of it before. But I've recently come across a tape which states it contains this video from her. Derrick ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 02 Apr 2001 13:12:15 -0500 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Subject: [EDA] NJC: recommendation I recommend getting Poe's new CD called "Haunted". It's very good. Hard to describe but if you can appreciate good music and lyrics (with a good beat too), then you will like it. Great overall sound! Derrick PS...some of it loosely resembles Dido as well. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Apr 2001 00:13:29 -0500 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Can anybody help me out and tell me the names of the newer songs that Jewel has written/performed? I kind of left off with "Break Me," "Violet Eyes," and "Stepheville." I know there are more out there. I'd really appreciate the help. Thank you! I also thought I'd add that if any of you are looking for somebody else to listen to, I recommend Joni Mitchell. I'm sure most of you are quite familiar with her, but I just wanted to throw the idea out. She's pretty cool...knows what she's doing. Somtimes I can almost hear Jewel too...it's pretty fun. Have a good day! - -Deirdre ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Apr 2001 15:14:21 -0700 From: Shawn E Williams Subject: [EDA] bad videos good artists hi guys! i just saw that bad videos good artists count down thing. "Hands" isn't that bad of a video. Jewel does look hot in it. that guy with the shaved head was being an a** about the video though. i also can't believe that "thank you" by alanis morissette was #16 or something and Jewel was 12. "thank you" is such a scary video, but if Jewel did a video like that it would be an awesome video! love ya, shawney the hippie angel "Make Love, Not War" ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! I'm rpetty sure I wrote to the list about this before, but if I haven't it's a great CD.. I got it on the same day I got the Nelly Furtado CD and I like them almost equally.. Also recommended if you get the new Poe CD is her brother's book, House of Leaves.. You can find it at amazon.com, I'm pretty sure.. His first name is Mark.. They correspond directly with the intention of you listening to her CD while you read his book.. Poe found a set of tapes that her father, who passed away a few years ago, had recorded with his thoughts and various things, and it shook her up pretty bad.. But it also gave her closure so she insterted all the clips into the CD.. It's very much a concept album, but it's great thematically and sonically.. Highly, highly recommended =) scott.evans [[crazy is just YOU and ME. Beth ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Apr 2001 11:37:42 -0400 From: "Devin Starr" Subject: [EDA] i dont know When i first read CDTD, and when i read about Jacque, i felt so bad for Jewel. And now i read it and i look at her with admiration, not for being a great singer, a wonderful poet and story teller or for being a good actress, but for dealing with a death and coming out intact. I go to the hospital everyday to visit my friend. Tammy Alexander. I dont want anyone to not know her name. i feel i must tell everyone about Tammy. Shes 20, wants to be a songwriter, she lights up a room with a smile and can kick my bum at any card game around. Shes got maybe a year to live at best as well. But realistically its going to be inside 3 months. She has been in the hospital all of her life and its eating her away. She has Diabetes, liver failure, kidney failure and a very weak heart. If she gets a cold again, her heart will give out and we wont be able to bring her back. So i come to the list asking two things. The first is a bit easier to give. Its prayers, mantras, meditations for her and for hope that she will have less pain as time goes on. And the other is donations. NOT TO TAMMY. but to any charity you want. Diabetes, blood drives, animal shelters (she loves her strays.. dog cats, she has taken in fish that nobody wants before) anything you want to give to. Even if it is just a quarter. Just so more lives wont have to go thru the pain like Tammy is. .. But really.. all we need is prayers, or maybe just a passing thought. I honestly can say that i admire Jewel more as a human, for Clearwater, and Higher Ground For Humanity, than i do for her talent.. But really.. all we need is prayers, or maybe just a passing thought. Thank you everyone who reads this. We really appriciate this.
