(AP) - Now you can find Jewel on the shelves of your local bookstore as well as the record store. The singer has written an autobiography called ``Chasing Down the Dawn: Life Stories'' using her full name, Jewel Kilcher. She describes how she grew up poor in Alaska and struggled to make ends meet before making it big as a performer. She also details her adventures on the road. ``It's a little bit hard in the press for people to get a real feel for you,'' she told AP Radio. ``They get ideas of you but not a real feel for you. So when a fan reads a book like this they can understand how my mind works.'' Jewel said she's especially proud of photography she did that appears in the book. ``The middle section is my photography,'' she said. ``My friend I was working with that helped me design the book really liked it and thought we should put it in.'' This is Jewel's second book. She released ``A Night Without Armor: Poems'' in May 1998. For those of you w/AOL, here is the link: 03/29: AOL News: Jewel Proud Of New Book Ta ta! Like an inspirational teacher, someone who does not get recognition for what they do. Jewel is an inspiration, but I don't think she would be chosen. If you want to nominate someone, think of someone closer to home, maybe a single mother who has made tremendous sacrifices to help her children achieve."::::: I agree Totally with you...i mean Jewel is a wonderful person and is an inspiration to many but, like she said they're looking for like an inspirational teacher or something! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Mar 2001 06:37:49 -0500 From: "Devin Starr" Subject: Re: [EDA] Pictures of Jewel on Ty's site >http://www.tymurray.com/presentation/pages/Slide33.htm > i was just checking this out and the older lady with Ty in one of hte pics looked familiar... isnt she is Jewels book CDTD? in the pics that she took herself section... Hey fellow angels! This is my first time writing on this list so please forgive me if I do anything wrong! Well I just played that "Bites and Baubles" game and I got to see the clip! That was from (If they are only showing one clip) the Puyallup Fair concert in Washington state! That was the one I went to! I am so happy someone put that on! Whoever did that thank you so much! That was one of the best days of my life! I had third row tickets and was there with my best friend in the whole world! That night not only did I get to touch her hand (after which I burst into tears) but I caught one of the drummers drumsticks! It was awesome! Well just thought I'd might brag a little :D! The same five songs were performed each night....Carnivore, Fading Away, Tough Girl, Satellite and Fragile Heart. The three JewelStock tapes that were treed did not include those 10 songs (Five songs times two performances each), which WERE to later become the 4th Jewelstock tape and that being after Jewel's second album was released. (reason being that the quality would be quite good, and there were fears that the material with the band would quickly end up on a bootleg CD, as quality material of Jewel with a band was in high demand by bootleggers then) Now, at that time (summer 1996) Jewel's second album was NOT intended to be Spirit (which was released in late 1998), it was to be the material she was recording in Bearsville/Woodstock at the time. The tentative title of the album was to be Fritz Creek Store, which you may or may not have heard of and which is referred to on this list every so often. There was a strong likelihood that studio versions of most, if not all five of the songs Jewel performed at JewelStock with the band would be on Fritz Creek Store. So, since that particular album never came to be released, the plan to tree the JewelStock Tape #4 was scrapped. That's basically it.
