As most of us know, Jewel's parents recorded 2 albums over 20 years ago. I have been fortunate enough to acquire each of these albums. Long out-of-print. I don't think they are available on cd. (Tell me if you know otherwise) I have just finished listening to both records. I must say they are very "Folky". As the album covers say, This is Alaskan Folk Music. The Kilchers were the most known folk singers in the state. On the 2nd album, Shane Kilcher has a small singing part on one song. For this 2nd album, Atz & Nedra went to Ohio to record the songs. This was even autographed by Atz. It says " Dave & Rita, Thanks for All, Nice Seeing You Again- Atz". Dave was the piano player. There are a few incredible pictures of Atz & Nedra. No pictures of the cabin they lived in. (with the front porch). But they are standing next to a wooden shack. I personally can't believe they lived in this little 8 x 12 shack. But it maybe trying to suggest they did live there. Nedra looks totally different than I expected. Brown hair and a flannel shirt. Though a very lovely voice and it's obvious that Jewel got some of her moms talent. The songs are very folky in the most basic form. I wouldn't say it's boring, but you really need to have an interest , for the fact that these are Jewel parents. and this is were it really started. Both Nedra & Atz sing all the lyrics together as one voice. I've never quite heard this done before, but it works well for them. The first album runs 28 minutes The second album runs 40 minutes They were both very clean albums in Near Mint condition. No Pops or Skips. ( I was happy about this) Probably never played more than 5 times. Now I know that there are a lot of you EDA's that would probably love to hear these albums. I'm not really into doing dozens of cd's burns. I have already transferred them onto 1 cd. If there is somebody who would like to set up a "CD Tree" for this material. I would supply a cd copy for the first seed. and that person would have control of administrating it to the branches, leafs. (Some of you are probably saying,"What the heck is he talking about") I know there hasn't been a "Trading Tree" done for a long time. If nobody wants to do this, that's fine. Though I'am looking for some more live recordings. I know that 9/27/00 Saratoga, CA was recorded. I need that!! Calling Kevin McGuire (hint hint) Also looking for anything else from 2000. I'm pretty loaded with material from the previous years. I want to give a shout out to another awesome EDA "Sean Stevens". Thanks for everything!!! Your DAT tapes Rule!!! Let me know what you guy think. While noble in his intent, what George is proposing cannot be allowed on this list due to particular copyright laws (etc.) that are more closely guarded than others. To put this particular item into a nutshell, you can basically call it "pirating". It falls into a much different category of what had been treed in previous years on this list, none of which was exact material that was on albums that were sold. In most of the previous cases of trees on this list going back over 5 years, permissions were given to tree the exact material that was distributed. In the cases that permissions were not sought out, the treed material were usually small shows of Jewel's that were low to medium grade audience recordings. In this case (the onlist treeing of two of Lenedra Carroll's and Atz Kilchers albums) I imagine there could be some serious legal rammifications. Therefore, I simply have to say, as list owner/manager, this cannot be allowed to occur. Hey angels, My hair smells nice, which is odd, considering the conditioner has a funky odor. I wonder if Jewel's hair smells like this...? Anyways, the brand of the conditioner is Lush, and it is called Forever in Bloom. It's a cute label. It says that my bottle was made by Wesley with fresh ingredients on 28/11/00 and expires on 28/11/01. It was made on 29 Hight Street, Poole, England. It's the colour of mashed up bananas, milk, and a little bit of vanilla extract. (I thought about how to describe the exact colour for a long time.) I don't know how readily available it is. I don't think it is in regular stores because my friend searched high and low for it and finally had to travel an hour to Toronto to find it in some specialty store. I think I'm going to consider her my best friend now. =) If you can find it, buy it! It's Jewelish and it makes your hair soft and smell nice. Good luck! It wouldn't be wise to give out cd copies of these 2 albums due to the fact that these are legitimate releases and can't be given out on cd-r format. It all has to do with royalties to the artist. I guess you'll have to find these albums and buy them yourself. Thought I'd help, but i was stopped.
