Lots of people went from all over the country. I think if Lilith came back, and they had a great line-up, a 3 concert "tour" would be a great thing. I'd definately go to one on the East Coast, even if it was a few states away. depending on who's in the line-up and how many of those people i actually like. I'm not gonna travel a few thousand miles just to hear jewel sing 3 songs, ya know? What they really need though, is "Jamstock" or something.... Phish, Widespead Panic, String Cheese Incident, Dave Matthews, Blues Traveler, (and other small bands from various cities in the US to play on a side stage)... all together for one big fest of jamming, drumming, and dancing. cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Jan 2001 10:10:06 EST From: GnG849@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Lilith Fair, B-Sides hey. that is a cool idea about lilith fair. i went twice, the second and thrid year so i missed jewel but i saw a lot of cool people. it was awesome and i was sad that they were taking 5 years off, but sarah does need a break. i think she would be a great mother=0) imagine having a mother with that great a voice to sing you to sleep ahhhhh =0) i want to get some jewel imports. i have seen them in stores but never really looked at them. love megan, the smiley angel ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Jan 2001 10:11:48 EST From: Wigglytooth523@aol.com Subject: [EDA] new CD Hey angels, Im pretty excited about Jewel's new CD, but willing to wait as long as necessary. Hi all. I'm trying to remember the title of a song & it's been driving me crazy for like 3 days now. This is a bad explanation of it, but part of the lyrics are: "Pack my bags and (something), I'm gonna ride on into the next town. Spend all my money on absolutely nothing. I won't have to pay for anything." That's a horrible explanation of it, but the main part is about riding on into the next town. I really wanna know the title & no one can help me so I thought maybe I could turn to my faithful EDA's on this one. Comparing the amount of people there, to the amount of people who got out of hand shows that only a small portion of the people decided to cause trouble. It also wasn't because people were anticipating a good show and didn't get it, or because of too much demand. Frankly, it's the organizers of Woodstock's fault for not preparing the whole event well enough. If the people who organized events as large as Woodstock took the time to prepare it right, there wouldn't be a problem. Also, you are looking at a completely different crowd for something like Lilith Fair, and I really can't see a big problem such as what happened at Woodstock occurring there. ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Jan 2001 17:56:51 -0500 From: "cymbaline" Subject: Re: [EDA] Lilith Fair, B-Sides > Woodstock 99 also ended in bloodshed. I hope they stop having Woodstick concerts. Not because of what happened in 1999, but because they should keep it a part of history, and let it be.... cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Jan 2001 17:59:37 -0500 From: "cymbaline" Subject: [EDA] My thoughts on a rarities album... As I sit here watching the little butterfly fly around in circles through the small window on my CD player I could not help to post to praise this great new album... I got Luna Taylor's new CD, "Mariposa," today, and am completely in love with it. It meets all my standards to qualify as a "Damn good CD!" Okay, so my standards aren't that important, and the music industry doesn't consult me about these things, but my standards do dictate what gets airplay in my house. POY, One Left Shoe, all the 'burns albums, The Wall, and a few others have made the cut, and now I must add Mariposa very near the top of that list. I'm very serious when I say that Mariposa is one of the best CDs I have heard this year (okay, for that matter, last year too, since this in only January). I am not a poet, and do not have the words to express how great this CD is truly, but if I did I could fill volumes. The singing and playing go beyond Luna's typical perfection to a new, amazing level, and the artwork is just simply fantastic. If I remember right, the CD was produced and mastered by Dan Stark, which should be a very familiar name on this list. In fact, about half the tapes on the Angelfood Bank were mastered by him, so you should already be familiar with the superb quality of his work. As for the actual songs... Well, for a couple dozen EDAs listening to this CD should invoke memories of Kick-ass gatherings over the past few years when Luna would play for us all. For me, an EDA event is not complete without: Woody the Plywood cow, Dennis Harris' antics (or discussion of them), Dos Equis, and either one of Luna's guitars(with her playing them of course =-) )... To help break in the cd I took it along on a five hour road trip I had to take today, and it was as fresh and perfect when I got home as when I left (though my throat was sore from singing along)... Now, that is a sign of a good CD! Anyway, you really owe it to yourself to check this CD out... and you can do that by visiting: LUNA TAYLOR mariposa Besides being able to order the CD, the last time I was there you could download a few of the tracks, so check it out... or drop an email to: wildermond@hotmail.com Anyway, just thought I would share...
