Well with all the updates on how Joy is doing, makes me wonder if Jewel has sold out...... please read all before you respond..... To me Christmas is what it is suppose to be. It to me is to celebrate the Birth of Christ Jesus. Not about all this commericalism and buy buy buy, spend spend spend to show your love. It is about the gift God gave us, and a time to celebrate it, and to live our lives in a loving God-like way. but to totally understand that or to really do christmas you need to know Jesus as your Savior. Not saying you need to go to church every day or every weekend or even once a year, but you need to know Jesus in your Heart, have a personal relationship with him.... Ok back to Joy....lets look at these songs 1. Joy to the world! the Lord is come Let Earth receive her King.... Joy to the world the Savior reigns...... 2. O HOLY Night the stars are brightly shining It is the Night of our dear Saviors birth 3. Silent Night HOLY night all is calm all is bright Round yon virgin mother and child HOLY infant so tender and mild Silent night Holy night Son of GOD Love's pure light Radiant beams from thy HOLY face with the dawn of REDEEMING GRACE Jesus LORD at thy birth Jesus Lord at thy birth 5. O little town of bethlehem (speaks for its self) 7. Hark the Herald Angels sing.. Glory to the newborn King Peace on earth and mercy mild God and sinner reconciled.... born that man no more may die born to rais the sons of earth born to give them second birth hark the herald angels sing Glory to the newborn King..... 9. Face of Love (written BY JEWEL her self!) Until tonight My heart was just half full i'd never known the fruit which FED the SOUL but now I SEE what may put to rest my longing chorus For I have seen the Face of LOVE the Grace of GOD, the face of Love..... (eep reading the song)... 10 Medley.....look at lyrics. 11. I wonder as i Wander (written by Jewel?) i wonder as i wander out under the sky How JESUS the Savior did come to die To save lowly people Like you and like i I wonder as i wander out under the sky Just read the lyrics to these songs. The main Them is Jesus, Gods love, the SAVIOR......Theses songs reflect to me the Christmas story, the birth of Jesus. We hear theses songs a lot, we might go to church once a year and sing theses, or hear them on the radio and sing, or just sing with our family. BUT have you really looked at the words!!! the Meanings?? This is where i Wonder if Jewel sold out on JOY. Is she a Christian? which i mean by that DOES she have Christ in her Life? does she trust Jesus as her personal Savior??? i believe Christian is a PERSONAL Relationship with Jesus, not a Religion, not a whole bunch of Rules, etc, etc. but does she believe in Jesus. I know her Mom was/is Mormon. but they dont believe Jesus was the savior, they dont accept Jesus as the son of God. So where does Jewel stand on this issue? Because if she dont know or care about Jesus, and she makes a CD to Honor him and the season, then it seems more about MONEY then the Reason for the Season. Thats like Jewel doing a CD of Metallica songs and half of her own music just to Appeal to that Group. Her singing Worship/Christmas songs is the same thing. If she does not truely believe in Jesus as the Savior, then making a Cd with a majority of the songs on it in the context is just appealing to that group, and/or using Commericalism to make a profite. Hey Jewel, not trying to bash you, just want to know where you stand. and if you have a relationship with Jesus........ sincerely the heavenly angel..... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Dec 2000 18:22:17 EST From: Mp0280@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] is Jewel a Sell out?? Did we go through this like a few months ago???? All singers have Christmas albums >>Because if she dont know or care about Jesus, and she makes a CD to Honor him and the season, then it seems more about MONEY then the Reason for the Season. Who cares? So what she made a CD so that she can make money.... but Jewel has said that she gives way what was it half the money that she makes?? so if she is able to give away half of what she makes, I drought that she is doing the album JUST for money..... Anyway when she talks about her doing the Christmas album, she said that it was for fun, and it was something that she really wanted to do..... >>Is she a Christian? which i mean by that DOES she have Christ in her Life? does she trust Jesus as her personal Savior???<< Ummm.... who gives a shit?? Wanna know something I couldn't care if Jewel was a sell out or not, because she is all into helping people, and a lot of her money does just that, helps people. I don't know if you read Jewels book but one of the stories talks about someone calling her a sell out, and she didn't at all understand why he did that, and she was upset by it...... I don't know what I'm staying anymore... I just think that it is real easy to say something that someone did wrong ... but maybe we should just look at what we do wrong and try to change..... hey ... it can only make things better. happy new Year Megan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Dec 2000 20:40:18 EST From: RockerGrl34@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] is Jewel a Sell out?? Jewel is very spiritual and was raised morman but doesnt continue to practice. I don't think she would be so hypocritical as to make a Christmas CD if she didn't believe in the spirit of the season. I Wonder As I Wander was not written by Jewel.. it is an old Christmas Carol. hope i helped.. or something katie *the sarcastic angel* :) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Dec 2000 23:19:57 EST From: JewelGuy55@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Jewel on Animal Planet Today i was watching my favorite show "The Crocodile Hunter" when a commercial came up for well i forgot what the show was called and it advertised Jewel in the show. So i watched it. It was so boring. The whole show was about the movie "I know what you did last summer" but it said" I know who you bit last summer" ya i know freaky. Anyway finally Jewel came up and it was only a 2 minute segment. She said that when she is around animals she feels natural and she was around animals alot as a child (more or less). O well I don't know if this was something old but i never saw it and it wasn't advertised on her website. Anyway it was cool seeing Jewel on Animal Planet today. YA!!
