She is part hispanic. But in actuality she does NOT speak spanish. When the video for "I Turn to You" was on Making the Video on Mtv they did an interview with her and she admitted that she didn't know Spanish but was beginning to learn it with a tutor and her family. While making the spanish album she had to learn the songs PHONETICALLY because she couldn't actually speak the language. Personally, I can't stand her. But I think that she probably does have a genuine interest in her roots. On the other hand, I agree that most english speaking artists who try to put out spanish albums are doing it for commercial reasons. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Get more from the Web. Go to the link that says "click here to get free downloads and help out the clearwater project at netaid.org" you can listen to the files regardless if you send money. Plus, I don't see anywhere where it says "to hear these files you need to donate to clearwater" so cheer up! listen to the files! (plus the netaid concert is still up to watch) I feel for you not having the money though.... this is my first Christmas where I'll be so broke I can hardly afford to even buy gifts. Blew all my money during this semester on photo supplies for school, and working 15 hours a week doesn't help either (get a whopping $80 for one paycheck!) And Is There Anybody Out There? (yet another live album... from an early 80's concert performance of the whole entire "Wall" soundtrack, imcluding a few songs not on the album) was released this year, (or was it last year?) Although the above are not the all-time best Floyd albums (personally, I like the More soundtrack, Meddle, and Ummagumma.... DSOTM, and the Wall), they are pretty good. I loved Division Bell.... love the lyrics tremendously in that album. cymbie tree hugger - -- when night falls it's dawn one must reach for. - -a. camus ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Dec 2000 17:30:37 -0500 From: "Scott Evans" Subject: [EDA] Carnivore lyrics I've always heard "Lavender haunts of you, so I could only laugh in yellow".. Well, ladies and gentlemen, I hope you're having a dandy December. It's quite lovely here in Noo Yawk, with zero inches of snow and still a week and a half left for school break. Anyway, I wanted to tell you that over the weekend I had a dream that I was at home (except it was literally a house, not an apartment I actually live in-- weird how dreams make lavish stuff out of reality), and I had Jewel in my effing living room! There were other people with me, people whose faces I couldn't see, but could sense were strangers or people I hadn't met too long ago. And Jewel (omigod, I just realized I spelled her name out correctly, instead of Juel) was like doing a little Living Room Concert crap right in my face but I'd been eating something and of course, I HAD to place it ("it?" I dunno, I guess a plate or a cup) back in the kitchen and wash it. And Juel starts singing her ditties. I hear the intro to Race Car Driver and I realize I made the horrible mistake of going to the kitchen and I'm freaking because I still have to wash whatever I have to wash! I become miserable when she starts to sing "Come one baby, let's get in the car..." And now the age-old question of EDAness-- Am I obsessed about Juel? But then again, my birthday WAS during the weekend. It was a nice gift... ===== ~*Liz*~ the Misplaced Angel HARMLESS & SHAMELESS PLUGS (if you can, check 'em out!) Its her Art school background coming out. In the colour wheel, violet (lavender) and yellow are complementary colours via yellow's position to blue. Though actually the yellow would be a light-green yellow for lavender, but hey, that doesn't quite work as well in a song, does it?
