Jeanette ********************** Joy: A Holiday Collection Jewel (Warner) By Gloria Chandy Jewel's hauntingly beautiful 'O Holy Night' might inspire you to go to Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. But you don't need to go to church to capture the Christmas spirit. Her interpretation of this, one of the oldest of carols, and her equally moving 'Ave Maria' (Schubert) would infuse any living room with the spiritual magic of Christmas. Her sweet, clear tones erupt in a grandiose 'Gloria', inspired by Bach's B Minor Mass and with words and music she wrote herself. She delivers a host of other well-known carols and songs with style. And adds a medley of songs less heard during the season. Her talent as a composer surfaces again in Life Uncommon, which she fuses with 'Go Tell It On The Mountain' and 'From A Distance'. It can only add to the overall ambience of this Yuletide season. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Dec 2000 06:11:43 From: "Rowdy White" Subject: Re: [EDA] NJC: best CD's 1990-2000 Hmm, this is hard for me, as that most of my favorite albums are alot older than that.., but here is a beginning of the list, in no order at all.. 1. Brian Mcnight was ok...but as far as Shecrazy and their "personal friend" or either the blonde ones boyfriend "Richard Marx" i didnt find them too appealing...lol jewel just said that they were very beautiful..no comment on their talent- hmm i wonder why I also thought that it was very strange to be doing a concert in the freezing cold like that but since im in Louisiana i have no clue what cold feels like anyway- Well I cant remember much because the concert was all a blur after shedaisy began dancing and after their 500 outfit changes - I think jewel either sang "Joy to the world" or "Winter Wonderland" and then she dueted with the "girls" for "Face of Love" so anyway basic review Shedaisy = Shecrappy ohh and P.S. if you plan on taping it ...have the record button in your hand because beleive me ..you dont want to whole concert and they dont do a very Good job on telling you who is singing next or anythign..Jewel is like the first one who sings after the "girls" welcome you to their concert. Just my 2 cents- Happy Holidays Wes ~the Redstick indigo Angel~ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Dec 2000 10:11:20 -0500 From: "Scott Evans" Subject: Re: [EDA] SHEdaisy concert I agree that shedaisy basically have no singing talents live.. It was painful to hear them sometimes, I was wincing.. Jewel was grerat, it seemed like half of the people were there to see her.. She sang "Winter Wonderland" by herself and "What's Simple Is True" sans the 2nd verse with shedaisy on backup.. I must disagree about Richard Marx, though.. He's AMAZING.. As a singer, songwriter, and producing.. It's great to see him coming back, having written and produced *NSYNC's new single (which is great) and with a lot of other artists.. Brian McKnight was pretty good.. I'd recommend watching the whole thing, just be prepared for a few dull spots.. =) scott.evans [[crazy is just YOU and ME. The holiday items include the 2000 version of the Jewel Christmas ornament, which comes packaged with a special holiday CD (2 tracks) that Jewel and Lenedra sent to friends and co-workers a couple of years back as a holiday/Christmas card. Just so you know, there's about 125 of the ornament/CD packages left (of 300 originally available). The holiday candle also comes with that CD (about 25 packages left). Then there's the "Another Rosie Christmas" CD which has Jewel and Rosie duetting on "Face Of Love" and has 13 other tracks with various artists (Rosie does the same harmonies that Lenedra did on "Face Of Love" for the "Joy: AHC" CD) and also available is the video version of "Joy: A Holiday Collection". So, if you've been dragging your feet on ordering something for yourself or someone else for the holidays, I suggest you get online now order up soon. Mike :-) P.S. In case you didn't know, at the Calender section of www.jeweljk.com there's a Quicktime video clip of Jewel and Rosie performing "Face Of Love". * If you are new to the Jewel list and need a helping hand, * or have a burning question about Jewel and/or the list, * The Jewel/EveryDay Angels List Homepage & Guide is at: * http://www.quackquack.net/jewel * Many basic/common Jewel and list questions can be answered there :-) * * If you can't find the answer on the page have any list related * questions, please feel free to email me at ducksoup@quackquack.net * or you can IM me on either of the AOL names below: * DuckOfPrey or WhyADuck55 and/on AOL or AOL Instant Messenger ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Dec 2000 20:48:22 -0500 From: "Scott Evans" Subject: [EDA] My favorites =) Let's see.. I would LOVE if Jewel made a cover of REM's 'Everybody Hurts'. This is such a beautiful song and I know Jewel will sang it beautifully. Also, I would LOVE if Jewel made a cover of Hanson's MMMBop... it would be kinda strange don't you think? BTW... I am just kidding... he he he... but the REM idea is cool! I would also LOVE Jewel doing a cover of some songs of SHAKIRA!! I read some days ago that a member of this list likes her... HOW COOL! I thought she was little known outside South America. I don't remember who the member was, I only remember that she was a girl and that she wrote about her going to CDTD Reading and that her dad did not speak English. Well, I just have to say I saw Shakira live in my country, Peru and it was great... I really like her music, but I was way away from her... it was kinda hard seeing her as all the people in the VIP seats were standing up half of the concert and the people at the back (like me!!) couldn't see. It was so funny, the people at the back were shouting "Sit Down! Sit Down!" so loud that you could barely hear Shakira starting her next song... So my question to her is if she comes from South America (or if her family does) and if she has any relatives there??? Also... wouldn't it be cool if Jewel sang 'Inevitable' or 'Sombra de Ti'. I really can't imagine Jewel singing in Spanish... I'm so curious about it... but I hope she does not release a Spanish record, though... I hate when English speaking artists release a Spanish record... it's so commercial.. they are just trying to attract more people... the translations to songs are usually stupid and sounf bad, and the pronunciation of the singer is many times bad... more than that, it's TERRIBLE!! Take for example Christina Aguilera... I HATE HER SPANISH songs... well, I don't like her English songs either... I have a Jewel mention... There was this MTV Special which was the time when Shakira was the artist of the month... and this was this Female-Singer TOP 20 (it included South American singers also. Jewel was at #16, she isn't very known around here, you know) So... when Shakira presented Jewel's video WWSYS, she said that she though Jewel was an excellent singer/songwriter and that she was an awesome guitar player. She said that Jewel played very well guitar although she only learned how to play it a few years ago... Then, Shakira said she's been playing guitar longer than her and she isn't half as good!!! THOUGHT THAT WAS FUNNY!!! :) Take care angels, *the peruvian angel finally bringing together the widely spread South American Jewel fans in order for Jewel to notice her fans in South America* Yahoo!
