Quite clever of the UN to do this. Go to the Hunger Site at the UN. All you do is click a button and somewhere in the world a hungry person gets a meal to eat, at no cost to you. The food is paid for by corporate sponsors (who gain advertising in the process because you see their logo). All you do is go to the site and click on the donate food button. It takes one second. However, you're only allowed one donation so pass the word. http://www.thehungersite.com Forward this to all in your address book. They did a cover of that song a few years back....well, more than a few. You should go buy the cd. It's a really good one. The album is called "Blind" and they have some copies at half.com for way cheap. Here's the link: http://www.half.com/products/music/detail.cfm?item=1769711 I just love half.com! Might find some Jewel stuff while you're there too. :) Steph theVWluvin'Angel ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 06 Dec 2000 13:47:15 From: "Rowdy White" Subject: [EDA] Breaking Colts breaking colts... well, when you get a wild horse that has never been rode before (there are still a few wild herds of mustangs in the Americas, though not very many( they are very spirited, and do not take well to having humans telling them where to go, and being rode, and so are prone to biting, bucking, kicking, and later on trying to rub you against every thorny plant in the area..) this also goes for young horses (colts). So, they are broke for riding.. Basically it is running them through exercises to let them release some of that wild energy, and in the process as a beginning to trust humans to an extent. For some thickheaded horses this involves getting on the horse, riding him until he throws you off, and keep getting back on until the horse gives up on throwing you off, and will listen to a bit more. Some of the exercises to wear the horse out a bit (and save some wear and tear on the person breaking the horse) is to tie the horse to a contraption that looks like bike wheel mounted parallel with the ground, and get the horse running, to expend some energy. In some places it is called "lunging" the animal. That is pretty much what breaking a colt is, though I'm prolly not exact on it. I was always more of a plowboy than a cowboy ... Oh, and for a certain EDA that was wondering, and asking for some... I'm finding that cow patties do not make good frisbees, but maybe it needs more research.. I'll send some to you soon... anyway Rowdy >From: "Kris Tetzlaff" >To: jewel@smoe.org >Subject: [EDA] Jool in School >Date: Tue, 05 Dec 2000 23:17:23 -0600 > >hey- > >Apparently psych professors are down with Jewel too. If you hadn't said female, I would have said it was Guns N Roses which they had on there setlist almost every night during there Use Your Illusion Tour from 91-93. Could it be Sarah Mclachlan? That's just a guess of course. Oh yeah, I know this is off the subject, but for you closet Guns N Roses fans check this post out: Sorry if this is just a waste of space for most of you... tom the "cactus" angel http://mypage.goplay.com/tippasaurus As I posted first to the mailing list I've been maintaining since 1993 of GNR fans .... Attention all Guns n' Roses fans! I am shocked to be able to confirm to you that our recent rumors of a surprise GNR gig in Las Vegas on NYE are now a reality ... it's just we had the wrong venue! I received the confirmation phone call yesterday, but have been unable to speak to the details until now. Tickets for the show, which will be at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas, will go on sale on Wednesday, December 6, 2000 at 12:00pm Pacific Time through the following web site: http://tickets.artistdirect.com/gnr/?network While the ticket price is not listed on the web site, I believe it will be expensive. But, since I cannot remember what was quoted to me on the phone last night, I'll not say anything here. According to the web site, the showtime is 1:00am, but it also said that's when doors open. According to my sources, however, showtime is really 2:00am. The HOB web site has not yet been updated to include this schedule. It's been a long time coming, and it looks like United States GNR fans will get to revel in incredible New Year's glory! Remember where it came from first ... since 1993, I've promised this group to bring the most accurate information as soon as it was available!
