Well I figured I'd find out who it really was if I just looked up "Wild Horses" and here are some of the possiblities I got: Tori Amos (that came up, so you could be right) Indigo Girls & Michelle Malone Sarah McLachlan & Jewel (apparently) Chantal Kreviazuk (says it's her live) and of course, a lot of guys such as Garth Brooks, Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, Bush, and a group called The Sundays, where this song was apparently on the "Fear" soundtrack. (even though I know thi I couldn't tell you who it is for sure, but the voice at the beginning talking is definately not Jewel (anyone who knew Jewel's voice well enough would know that) but once I opened the one labelled Jewel, the actual mp3 (the writing in the player) said Chantal Kreviazuk.... :) ~ Sandy - ----- Original Message ----- From: "cymbaline" To: "EDA" Sent: Tuesday, December 05, 2000 8:10 PM Subject: [EDA] Who sings this???? > Okay, well I was looking for Jewel mp3's.... for anything I did not have, > basically. (i felt like a complete dork, but i always call them up on stuff like this (they have started to sendme free samples of music, so it cant be a bad thing) and i asked about the song, one had never heard of it, so i called up a few more (group consensus) and they all agreed that it was The Sundays. But several people had done covers, more often actual cover done by Tori Amos... yay to the radio stations Jess angel with broken wings _____________________________________________________________________________________ Get more from the Web. Tori Amos actually has her own song called "Wild Horses". There is a singer commonly found on certain online mp3 resources named "Jewel Akens" (I don't know if I spelled that correctly) and maybe that's her. I have heard that certain song and there are other songs on there with her singing. Hi- I hate to bring this up again, but I was reading Chasing Down the Dawn last night and I read about a story when she was going out to lunch with her friend and she was stopped by these same 3 people who asked her for autographs the night before (when a concertwas over). She gave them another one and went to lunch. When she came back, they were still there and asking her for MORE!! She refused and the girl got mad and ask her, "Don't you remember what it's like to be poor?" They followed her, screaming at her, down the street... it's on page 85 or 86...in the eighties. BUT, anyhow... it made me realize how Jewel feels about giving autographs. She is okay with giving them, but she sure can be put to limits!! I feel bad for her now. I would hate to endure people like that. So, whoever thought that Jewel was selfish and rude b/c she did not give autographs, then read this story in Chasing Down the Dawn. Since the instructions were posted last month, 11 EDAs have contributed a total of $360, which will go toward completion of the EDA/HGH water site in Hondurus. If you would like to contribute and be counted in this year's EDA totals, Shane Kilcher's previously posted instructions and related info follows. THANK YOU to everyone contributing to this project! MrBB Subj: [EDA] From Shane: Jewel's Gift & EDA/HGH Project Instructions Date: Wednesday, November 8, 2000 9:35:28 PM Greetings all, I'm going to hand you over to Jewel's brother Shane today, who's here with the EDA/HGH project information many EDAs requested. For new folks who were not here last year, many EDAs raised almost $5,000 for HGH/Clearwater as a Christmas gift to Jewel last winter. This money, combined with a $25,000 "Smooch For A Cure" grand prize, (which the EDAs helped Jewel win for Clearwater), led to a Clearwater site in Gualcea, Honduras. This water site was specifically funded from this $30,000 total and is officially dedicated to the EDAs. You can learn more about your water site at: www.clearwaterproject.org/cchonduras.html The funding for this water site is being implemented in two stages. The first stage cost $30,000, which was the money mentioned above, that initiated the Gualcea water site earlier this year. The second stage will cost approximately $45,000 and will be sent sometime this coming year. Many of you have indicated that you want to continue this effort, as this year's Christmas present to Jewel. Your contributions are very appreciated and along with HGH fundraising efforts, will help complete this project. Here's Shane and here's to great success with this year's holiday project! MrBB ******************************** Hello EDAs! It's been quite sometime since i posted. I've been busy with my job these days and somehow down here in Philippines we have been experiencing bad weather and sometimes the internet connection is not working well . To ease my loneliness and weariness, i watch movies on my VHS at home. I don't have my own computer but still and will always remain an avid fan of one and only JEWEL.Lately, i've watched an old ones which were "Jerry McGuire" and "Here on Earth". As i've watched the two movies, I've noticed that Rene Zellweger of "Jerry Mcguire" and Leslie Sobeiski of "Here on Earth" have a strong resemblance with Jewel. I did enjoy watching them both 'cause i felt as though i watched Jewel did the acting on those movies. I haven't yet seen the movie which Jewel starred on (Ride With The Devil) 'cause it's still not being shown here and besides i can't afford to purchase the VCD of it due to dollar devaluation. As of these times, Philippines is having an economic crisis and record sales of any foreign artists are not doing well .In spite of, I still haven't lose my interest on Jewel. She's my idol and i believe there will come a time that i'd be able to meet her in person. Whenever i come home late from the office, i would lie in bed and scan over the different channels hoping i would see Jewel on entertaiment news for she could ease down my restlessness. Way back in 1998, Jewel was featured in Rolling Stone Magazine. For this, I would like to ask anyone of you an article from that issue cause I missed that copy. Im desperately trying my very best to have a copy an article about her from that magazine. Please send it to my e-mail addThank you all.. Till here God Bless Everyone!!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! The singer's name is Harriet Wheeler and they released a cover (primarily piano, acoustic guitar and her voice) of "Wild Horses" in the early 90's (on their 2nd album called "Blind"). Although that cover version is quite nice, most of their originals are far better. I love Harriet Wheeler's voice and I think they're one of the most underated bands of the last decade. I'd highly recommend checking out their first album "Reading, Writing & Arithmetic" and the 2nd one "Blind." Both are wonderful, in my opinion. And just to get some actual Jewel content in here; Colm O'Reilly, Jewel's favorite monitor engineer was The Sundays monitor engineer when they were touring during the early 90's.
