And a few of us (ok just me :) felt that it was unfair treatment since the only times we could see her-if any of us felt like wasting a day- would be maybe getting into the Tonight Show, big maybe. d)its warmer over here...(makes a face) nah nah na na nah ;) Thats ALL what I Think about it folks. BTW- I got to see Jewel play piano and sing decently, which was a shocker to the system. Did she play piano in cerritos? Living Room Concert at the Verilings probably isn't gonna happen cause last I heard, Jason hadn't called anybody yet. I'm gonna shoot for having one in January again, like the Project Warmth LRC about the same time. I'll bug Poltzie's answering machine and see if he'll want to do it. Even Mike told us he didn't want to do it anymore :) and seriously? The list has been *way* more calmed down and friendly as of lately - we've been *mostly* discussing rather than argueing, and it's nice to see. I just wanted to comment on this: > Since moderation ended the digest is just huge and the content literally is > junk mail. What is junk mail for you is something that others may want to read. Also, I haven't noticed *any* difference in the amount of email resulting from being unmoderated. The only reason the digest has been huge (or we've been receiving more individual mails) is because Jewel's come out of hiding and is more involved in the media and such, and has given us something to discuss. I've seen *way* more email in the past when the list WAS moderated and Jewel was in hiding, and all it consisted of was arguing about things that didn't even really concern Jewel. > This was a fantastic list when it was moderated, a really good atmosphere. I haven't seen the atmosphere change at all since it changed to unmoderated. This wasn't something that just happened - Mike didn't announce it and only slowly did people begin to realize that he was no longer moderating. Now that everyone realizes that, they've decided that things have changed. I haven't seen any difference except the possible occasional post that might have been held back before. Heck, I thought we'd go straight to arguing mode once everyone found out it was no longer moderated - I'd say we're doing pretty good considering. Besides, we should all be mature enough to 'moderate' ourselves. We know what we should and shouldn't be saying and doing - and Mike still has the ability to remove anyone who is really misbehaving, and is still giving warnings for the name calling and such. > im even starting to see subject: Re:jewel digest xxxx. We all knew in the > past if we did that it woudnt get on! we all took care over what we wrote > and waited for it to be on. There was a real good vibe to it all. I remember seeing the subject Re: jewel digest xxxx while we were being moderated as well. I'm not taking any more or less care with what I write than I did before, and no one else should either. Just because posts can't be held back now because of a "taboo", there are still consequences with what we chose to write, and Mike is still reading these, and still has the ability to boot anyone he wants. The list may not be in top quality mode right now, but I'm not getting bad vibes...I've seen it worse - even when Mike was moderating it, because everyone was arguing and insulting each other in response to an opposing opinion. It *was* nice to have Mike there to stop the arguements before they got through if they went too far, but he can also at any time he wants stop them now if he really sees it necessary. So, since Mike has already said "Nay" to moderation, and it's soley his decision, then we don't really have a choice... I'd just like to say I approve of that choice. I know I couldn't be bothered to look over every single message to the list several times a day if I had the other responsibilities he does. I'm surprised he moderated for as long as he did :) ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Nov 2000 18:36:11 EST From: GnG849@aol.com Subject: [EDA] just a thought hello angels 0=) this is a far stretch, but does anyone know if jewel will possible be in arizona from december 27 to january 2??? i know, probably not...sigh...i live ion the east coast way up here in new hampshire where NOTHING ever happens. will jewel be visiting boston any time soon? i saw her 2 summers ago on the spirit tour, i'm carving more jewel =0) i finished CDTD in 4 days, i read in between classes! i love the story about the religions and the one about jaquie dying made me cry, literally. there is a picture of jewel in one of the sections and on the top it says life on the road. i'm nor trying to sound gross but there is something on her pants ummm,er,down south if ya know what i mean...just a though hehe. well have a great night and don't eat too much left-overs!! love megan, the smiley angel =0) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Nov 2000 19:03:53 -0500 From: Paul Schreiber Subject: Re: [EDA] All opposed to reinstating moderation, say Nay Nay. let the kids play.
