Nay. It's *really* saying something about us if we can't use our own common sense when posting... Or in some cases, deleting :). <> Hi List :) Two points: 1. What boring conversations must Alan have with Jewel if all they talk about is 'how the EDA's are acting at the moment'... I just can't see Alan chatting to Jewel or whatever and coming up with that kind of conversation, whether the EDA's are arguing or getting along. What he probably *would* talk about though, would be how much we're donating to the Clearwater Project - so if you really want to do something good then do that. (Yes I *am* planning to donate myself, I'm not that much of a hypocrite). 2. Would Jewel really care how the EDA's are acting? I doubt it... We may spend year upon year obsessing over every little Jewel detail, but I'm sure Jewel has a lot more important things on her mind than what's going on with the EDAs :). I think that puts a lot of pressure on the list owner, and is unfair to him. Secondly I believe the "moderation" should be put on us as the list members. Also I think the "posts" in question are more or less snap judgments rather than responsible inquiries or statements, I do think we all have it in us to be thoughtful and responsible list members. We are in this together and should act accordingly. true people will have a different view at times but I hope that we can all resolve our differences in a fashion that would set an example for new Jewel fans and list members. OK I'll keep this somewhat short. lol I am thankful for all of you for reading this! To me it means your all alive and hopefully getting ready for a day with loved ones and lots of turkey. I am thankful for my mother and sister who have left this earth to a better place, and I know the are watching over me. I am thankful to my father, who taught me that being caring and thoughtful & sensitive to those around me is just as important as looking out for myself. I am also thankful to Jewel. Her strength and integrity is an inspiration to us all. And I am thankful to those I do not know, but understand Walk in Peace and Happy Turkey Day!! I thought you might want to share this with the EDA's. My friend sent this to me after his wife's aunt passed away in hospice. Thanks. Chopped Liver (Charlie) watkins@selway.umt.edu http://members.aol.com/cwatkins/jerra.htm - ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Fri, 3 Nov 2000 15:18:46 -0700 From: To: "'watkins@selway.umt.edu'" Subject: Jewel songs at the Hospice Dear Charlie, I would like you to say that Jewel tape 2 of 3 "JewelStock" played twice during my Aunt-In-Law's, Mona , 87 years of age, waiting for God to take her OCT 30th at Aurora Life Care Center's Hospice in Aurora Colorado. She asked to be transferred from the Hospital's life support/Kidney Dialysis machines that were prolonging the pain of dying with Lupus and Kidney failure, at Aurora's Hospital last Friday, OCT 27th, to die in the peace and quiet of the Hospice with her immediate family holding her hands, rubbing her arms and legs, and talking with her while she gathered the family around her. Once her brother Colin arrived from Calif. on the 30th, she gave up the struggle and within 10 hours passed away in peace. Gregorian chants, and music for the dying played until I asked to play Jewel. The Episcolpalian female Priest, a singer herself, Diana, had never heard of Jewel before, but loved her voice quality and control. Jewel helped celebrate the life of this great lady, Mona, who throughout life exemplified the best of traits of humanity, and made a difference in the lives of those she touched. Thank You for those tapes Charlie. Sincerely, John ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Nov 2000 10:03:09 -0500 From: Scott Evans Subject: [EDA] Happy Thanksgiving Happy Thanksgiving, y'all... You've all been (for the most part) great company, kept me entertained and informed for probably three years (for the EDAs... for the EODA list, since it started)... Who's with me? Nay. We is doin' just fine. I see nothing on this list that warrants full moderation. There were many various reasons we went to full moderation in the late fall of 1997, and NONE of them exist right now. >We have a direct line to Jewel here, through MrBB... If he tells Jewel what's >been going on here, don't you think she'd be disappointed in what we've >become? No, not at all. There's nothing NEW going on here that has not gone on before. To be perfectly honest, it's been pretty mild here when compared to what used to go on in 1996 & 1997. The J-team has been a part of this list nearly from day one (Feb 1995), long before MrBB's wife joined this list and long before MrBB eventually began working for Jewel. So they've seen it all, been through it all....the mild discussions of differing opinions that many of you call fights....the REAL major fights that many of you have never seen....the days when this list used to AVERAGE well over 250 posts a DAY, and often topped 400 posts a day, a majority of course being NJC. (so the digest subscribers can relate, the digests used to be twice as large and on those days we'd get upwards of FOURTEEN digests). Nah, I see no reason here for this list to need full moderation, at least not when compared to the reasons it went into moderation the first time. Mike - The "I will ONLY consider fully dislodged chads in this moderation vote" angel P.S. Don't get me wrong. While a lot of "bad" stuff was going on in the past that required the full moderation, a LOT of good stuff was going on too. TONS of it. Stuff that would blow your mind. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Nov 2000 09:22:21 -0600 From: "Tom Skyles" Subject: [EDA] Re: jewel-digest V5 #419 Doesn't she live in Texas with Ty not in California. She said last year that she only gets to be there about 2 weeks a year.. So maybe she was there at that point, switching around.. Or maybe she missed California.. It WAS where she got her break in the first place.. And she DID do Austin City Limits while she was in Texas..
