A handleful of concerts on the west coast and promo in the east coast, but nothing in the midwest. I don't want to start any conflicts or anything, but she's always either in the west or the east. She plays all these places in those ares but never thinks to do a show or two here and there in maybe milwaukee or chicago. The last time she was in either one was last august on the spirit tour. That was her second milwaukee appearance, and in chicago only two times before, visit each with lilith fair, and chicago one more time on an earlier tour. We miss Jewel, is it to much to ask for her to come here? Or are we gonna to have to wait for another album for another tour, while she plays numerous show's in the west. Whatever happened to the higher ground show that never took place. The riverside in milwaukee would be a lovely place. And i'm not just a milwaukeeian who wants to see her again, i think everyone in the midwest deserves to see her again. I know i can't afford to fly to the east or west to do that. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Nov 2000 05:00:16 EST From: Spenser68@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Losing Sight??? Hi all it's just Spenser here with a few thoughts? 1. What is an EDA, I think we all what this means...yes? 2. Who put groundwork for this into place, I think we all know this as well. My point? Abraham Lincoln had this Idea that we all should be treated equal, we were not property to be bought or bartered. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Had a dream, though the country has a long way to go, as a whole we have come a long way. These people had their supporters and critics but still believed in the idea that unity is a much stronger and vocal power. Yet I seem to spend a lot of time reading post that are tearing the list apart! Jewel is a medium for us to come together and be the difference that makes a difference...yes? In the Grand Scheme of what we call life does it really matter who meets who or who gets credit or acknowledged? Are Our lives dependent on whether or not Jewel comes out to say 'Hello" ? If you stop and really think about it her message is in her music, that is her medium to us. Believe that! not a tabloid or a specific outburst to a rude observer. Jewel and Lendra have given us a road map to help ourselves while helping others. Though the road may have different paths but the end result I believe is the same. They should be applauded! Maybe we should remember that instead. In the words of our Chief, Dancing Thunder (my Wife and I have been adopted into the Susquehanna tribe of Florida). Hello- What happened here? It went from a discussion about Jewel to dumb people in Florida....?? I don't really understand it... I've come to realize that maybe I was wrong earlier about the whole explosion of my thoughts about how Jewel should take more time to her fans. All of you are right when you say that Jewel has given us a lot. For we have given her a lot in return. She must be exhausted from all these people.... I know that I would have to stop and breath. I think that she's a wonderful artist. I guess that I will have to wait for that day when I get to personally meet her.... and I won't hold my breath too long either... :) It's a dream of mine to meet a person that I look up to for music. But, like I say... I apologize to those who I have offended and I apologize to Jewel for judging her based on rumors. I have heard her talk during concerts on some CDs that I have.... and she seem,s really funny and nice. Judging people based on their opinions and appearance really is so ignorant. We're not laughing at the post... We're laughing at you, Kris. Big ol belly laughs.... I do not know about Gina and the rest that were laughing at you (and believe me, the list is long and distinguished) but I almost peed my pants, laughing at the thought of you hunched over your computer, angrily, malevolently typing the stinging little nuisances you call posts. There. Now that I have your attention while you frantically start trying to find a way to taunt me, and to find a way to belittle this post, no, I mean this flame, listen, I have an idea. Why don't you just unsubscribe for a couple of years while you grow up. 1. Yes, we take jewel too seriously. 2. Yes, we take ourselves too seriously. 3. Yes, we take each other to seriously. 4. Yes, it does seem that it is taking awhile in Florida for the vote counts..(whether it is the people counting or the courts, I dunno) Do we need someone calling us "dumbfucks"? No, I guess not... Are there people out there that are so pathetic that the only joy in their day is to post to a touchy-feely list (like the EDAs) to bait people (like me) into a flame war? Yup, and Kris has volunteered to be that person today(or maybe even for the whole week). I love a good argument, and I love hearing opinions different than mine... Though your arguments seem more on the pathetic side, feel free to email me privately. And while you are spending your nights lying awake in you bed, desperately trying to find something to say that will piss me off, or make me feel bad, maybe everyone else on the list won't have to listen to you. Mike, I do apologize to you for my recent uncontrolled e-mails. You could say my cheese slipped of my cracker. You do have to admit though Mike this list can be very frustrating. I have been on this list for 5 1/2 years now and I can say that I have read every post. Maybe not word for word but every post got opened. I just got so tired of the immature analizations of everything Jewel says and does. It's ridiculous. Not just that however, because with the kind of life she lives that is to be expected. Some of these children do seem to make a personal issue of each breath. I have been idle for a while. I think all the older EDA's will agree that you start posting a lot at first until your only reading them or you slip down into mass deletion:) That's what happened to me I slipped down into no longer posting but observing. Which gives the same effect especially during discrepancies as listening not talking. However the whole Jewel is mean she didn't sign the wheelchair girls whatever brought me out of the woodworks. It took on more relevance to me than just the list. It took on people assuming things about a person without even knowing them. People assume the have the right to be judge and jury. I believe that no one has the authority to make accusations as to someone's attitude or frame of mind until you have physically walked a whole day as that person, and as that person would have walked it.So in conclusion I apologize to those who were offended. ~Kris~ Also a note for Mike. I don't know how you have done "this". Had I been you the list would have crashed years ago. Thanks ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Nov 2000 13:36:30 -0500 From: "Kerri" Subject: Re: [EDA] Jewel forgets about Midwest, once again umm, California and New York City are hardly the entire east and west coasts.
