Therefore, you can't really judge whether or not she does it often. 2] Many times when people think Jewel was/is mean, they took it the wrong way. Have you ever said something jokingly and have someone think you are being mean to them? You made quite a good example of it by at the HGH concert. I was there too. To me (yes, another perspective), it didn't seem mean at all. Not only is it a sarcastic statement, but she even said that in a jokin manner. 3] She is a performer. Her response to someone in public is a performance. When she takes something either silly, harmless, or offensive and makes it into a joke that people laugh at, she is performing. 4] Why does everyone look at Jewel and think she's an angel? I certainly don't and never have. Take me for an example. I am all in all a nice fun guy to get along with. But I can be an ass sometimes. Actually, I can be an ass a lot if someone pisses me off enough. However, I am extremely sarcastic and a total smart ass, so some people think I'm attacking them. (tho there have been times where I've said some pretty crappy stuff that I regretted later, but who hasn't?) I have more friends than anyone I know, yet some people think I'm a total dick (few and far between, but they do exist). However, I have no problem with that. If I notice someone taking that stance, I'll adjust my approach, but if someone is going to be offended by something *I* don't think is offensive, I'm certainly not going to sweat it. Does that make me an ass? Maybe. Does that make them overly sensitive? Maybe. More so, I believe it's the lack of understanding of communication and intent than anything else. I take the view that if you're going to be offended by something, that's your deal, not mine. Thus.. I certainly feel no compassion for those that think Jewel is a total jerk. Granted, I don't think she's an angel or anything, but don't you find it strange that those who hate Jewel are the ones who started out thinking she was a perfect goddess? Think about it. When was the last time you said something to someone that you now feel you shouldn't have? What if you were inundated with people all day and that slipped out more often? Those who are perfect.. throw the first stone. Eh? Gerrit Agent BB wrote: > > This issue of Jewel cursing out her fans and being > rude isn't the first time it's been discussed. I'm sick of hearing that she's too good to meet her fans.... that is a crock of shit. If she didn't want to become famous and have to deal with the world, then why doesn't she just say that she's done? I'm sick of hearing all of these things like she doesn't have time. Fame and fortune REQUIRE time and people. If she can't deal with it, and if she doesn't like it, then why doesn't she quit bitching and do something about it. I'm sorry that I am so harsh about this, but I'm just outraged about how Jewel is handling this. PLUS, most can tell that she wants to be home in Alaska. That's all she ever talks of in her new book. I'm sorry about offensing everyone, but Jewel's attitude stinks. I never want to become famous... I'm glad that my songs that I have written really suck. Goodnite. Everything is really strange and ever since I did it, my computer has been acting really wierd like it doesn't like it or something. I need input please!!! (and thank you). Bye bye now. I'm sick of hearing that she's too good to meet her fans.... that is a > crock of shit. No, I think that is a crock of shit. I personally think that people who go waiting 2 hours outside a venue expecting jewel (and other celebs) to come out and mingle and sign autographs are living in a fantasy world. not only that, but they are RUDE and do not repsect her privacy! Does jewel's whole life have to revolve around meeting fans 24/7, everytime she steps outside? How would you like it every time you step outside, people will not leave you alone? How would you feel? You would want privacy. Quiet time. Away from people except maybe your close friends and relatives. To be famous you do NOT have to mingle with fans and sign countless autographs. And If I were famous I sure as HELL would not go out a door I knew alot of people were outside waiting for me. For all I know one of them can be a psycho obsessive fan with a gun. Selena was killed by a FAN!!!!! >. Fame and fortune REQUIRE time and people. That is not true at all. You would say differently if you were famous. You CAN be famous by just performing and making records/movies etc. There is no law that says "you have to sign autographs and mingle with people you do not even know nor will ever see again" Alot of people expect for Jewel to be a perfect angel or whatever. And like I said many times before she is human like the rest of us. Fame does not change the fact that she's human. I do not sympathize with the people who lost disrespect for Jewel because she MIGHT drink alchohol (although there is NO PROOF that she does), and all this other stuff. Get real...
