ITS NOT LIKE WE ARE ASKING FOR IT!! We all think of thigns we can't have thats what makes them so interesting. If you don't like this topic why don't you think of one that will stimulate and get the whole board involved. Wow! She released a video last year that must have been such hard work!! Would you rather have us talk about pieces of you for the five hundreth time. If i say who would want to date jewel and why are you going to get mad at us for that, because we are being too demanding. How old are you, grow up! I want more videos! I want > more concerts!" Jewel is NOT Cinderella, Jewel is HUMAN and deserves to be > treated like a human being rather than a superbreed. I don't think anyone's treating Jewel as a "superbreed" and hell, the times I've met her, she hasn't treated her fans as human beings (but that's another story) - the point is, Jewel has to do precisely nothing here. The live material exists, Michel wants *ATLANTIC* to get their asses in gear and release a live record from all the great archive material which blatantly exists - the radioshack concert, her performances on TV shows, the Netaid webcast for goodness sake! That would make a great CD and could perhaps even be used to support charity? Nobody's asking Jewel to do anything. I can see *both* sides of the story here, and I think that although maybe cymbie was jumping to a conclusion, whoever replied to her message where she said she wasn't going to say a thing *provoked* her. Sure, it was clear that she was being sarcastic in her reply, and that was the point. If you'd just let it pass, she wouldn't have said what she did, and we wouldn't be here discussing it. You pretty much asked for a reply that you *knew* by her first reply was going to have a certain tone for it, and when you got a reply, you were unhappy about that. In that way, although cymbie's email may have offended you, you kind of brought it on yourself. I don't think cymbie's in the wrong here - it's true, I constantly hear people being WAY too demanding of Jewel as if her only concern in life should be popping out albums and music to make her fans happy. She has a regular life, and cymbie's right, too many people treat her as a "superbreed", as if she's some not human, and doesn't hunger for a regular life. Now, on this note, I'm also going to say I don't think that's what Michiel meant here at all, which is why I didn't reply myself, *but* I can see how cymbie jumped to this conclusion because Michiel has said some very demanding things about Jewel in the past, and I think that, no offense to Michiel, cymbie is just tired of reading not only his demanding posts, but other peoples from this list. I can't say I don't feel the same way most of the time when I hear people complaining that Jewel doesn't do enough, or doesn't do what her fans want. I think the best thing to do in this situation is agree to disagree - there are always going to be people who want Jewel to be superhuman, and those of us that realize she needs to be a normal person sometimes herself. One of the reasons that Jewel disliked the music business is because she felt like she was losing herself among record sales, videos, appearances, performances - and this time off is a chance for her to find herself again, to re-develop the love for music that she lost. So many people who complain about her not doing enough, complain that she's not the same anymore - maybe you just have to give her a chance to feel human again.
